    This suggests the star shaped forts would be effective.

      The star shaped forts were the ultimate point of that evolution, considering not only shooting at the attackers from sides but also ricocheting their artillery shells.
      For archery warfare just any protrusions would be enough. Actually, towers are supposed to be such protruded platforms for archers. It's a pity we cannot use towers in this game the way they are intended.

      We have a star shaped fort where I live. It was never breached. Sat ontop of a steep inclined hill, with a deep trench built around it with plenty of view ports. Citadel Hill it's called and it makes me want to build one in Manor Lords. Once we get City Walls not just Manor Walls.

      A simple castle with walls could be a cost effective variation of this given the size of battles for Manorlords as for now. A starfort will cost way too much resources and time to build while probably having the same effect as a castle.

      It inadvertently simulated a few troops climbing over. However, it also demonstrated why that would be a terrible idea in real life. It breaks up the attacker's formation and allows the troops to be picked off one by one. So, even if a few exceptional militiamen were to hop the fence, they wouldn't make it very far against an organized garrison in full force and in formation. Seriously though, that AI needs work. I hope they add proper bulwark system and AI interactions sometime in the future. Walls were a big thing in the middle ages.

  • @kaleckton
    @kaleckton Před 24 dny +3

    I dont have ethe update going yet but i would point out that wall design looks cool but typically they would only build the walls to the space they think they can fill up. So having lots of empty space is pointless defensively as there is more wall for the attacker to use to block arrows. And it be better to have the gap deeper than that so you can better line up archers on bother sides. Especially if they let armies get bigger than this in game.

    • @AgentGB1
      @AgentGB1  Před 28 dny

      tbh, best way to find out is once they put a claim on your then attack. What i do know is that if the battle site is in a heavily built up area, that may restrict path finding for the ai, it seems to move it to another location. So this may help somewhat in predicting the area. But obviously the only sure way to know is once the Baron attacked you once. Just remember to not build up too heavily in that area is wishing to preserve that as the battle site.

      @AgentGB1  Před měsícem +15

      The beta update, they have received a buff, but i'm still playing on the current build because i'm trying to get that steam achievement on challenging mode. What I've fount is, is that archers do alot more damage when shooting into the flanks or rear of an enemy unit with "fire at will" mode. So when i created those defensive, i did that with that in mind.
      If you decide to wall up your manor, would probably suggest double laying the walls to stop some of the ai troops from clipping through it. That's what i plan on doing next.

    • @danielg2167
      @danielg2167 Před 29 dny +1

      Let's make sense I probably haven't updated the game yet when I was playing it I had to archers and this was without being inside the wall. I would use my spear units to attack the unit's head on and send my archers to the rear at fire at will or direct fire and they did no damage whatsoever
      Even playing and please excuse me for not knowing the name but the units that don't carry Shields but long swords. Have the enemy AI shoot their archers at that specific unit for about three solid minutes until it started getting closer to the battle being over. Realized that archers did no damage

    • @BiglerSakura
      @BiglerSakura Před 29 dny +1

      Archers inflict little physical damage, but lower the enemy unit's morale which finally causes it break and run away though it still has many soldiers alive.

    I'm new to the game, how do you know where the battle happens?

    • @AgentGB1
      @AgentGB1  Před měsícem +4

      Only proper way to find out is once they put a claim on ya & start the war. It can sometimes shift, if for example you've built an entire city over the area and there isn't really anywhere feasible for the battle to take place without causing the ai path finding issues. Then it will choose another position. Otherwise its in a fairly static & predictable position.
      Just need to weather the first claims, find out where it is, and then nail down the area with a manor.
      With my first town there, i placed the manor between them and the battle site, from where they usually enter the map, because my town encompassed nearly the entire region, it actually placed the battle site in the next territory over. So, the game will move the battle site if your buildings are at risk of causing path finding issues for the ai. Otherwise, will mostly be static.

      Mostly yeah, can clip through. As you can see though, was somewhat in the process of still building it.
