Welcome back to the channel ladies and gentleman! Today we meet up with Josh who is the owner of this $140K DINAN Stroked BMW E92 M3 that just happens to do 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds or less. Mad! Great catch - the 4.6 Dinans are super rare, 527 crank was great power when they came out.
Current 4.6 strokers with 292 cams are putting down close to 500whp while retaining Vanos.
Absolutely bonker power in a naturally aspirated E92 M3.

On paper, FI exceeds/beats NA on price/performance. But this beast is in another league, it’s what the GTS should have been, and that too is an amazing package. This car, as the first and last M3 V8, is the poor man’s Porsche 911 GT3 (almost). You’ve made me reconsider the Dinan stroker. 🤨

Just an FYI, harness without a HANS device is extremely dangerous, you'll snap your neck if you get into an accident. Should NEVER wear a harness while street driving.

Only Ilhan it’s a device that stops your neck snapping when you come to a sudden stop. Seatbelts are designed to slack off when you crash so your whole body moves forward. With harness’s your body is strapped in and your head moves. You can only wear Hans with a helmet. To add though you wouldn’t suffer as much on the road as you don’t have the added weight of a helmet

Only Ilhan Adding to what Dobbo said, it looks kind of like the neck pillow that people wear on planes but it's made of strong materials. The belts also go over the device instead of directly on the shoulders. Basically helps keep the neck straight and distribute the forces during a crash to save the neck, shoulders, and spine

Maybe I misheard but a stroker works by lengthening the stroke (up and down of the piston) inside the bore. It doesn't lengthening the engine. It's just the distance the piston travels.
That is correct. I gave a broader description that didn’t make it into the video and this was the most basic explanation I had at the time. Apologies for any confusion! I do believe that the stroker crank is longer than the factory one and by widen I was referring to the internals.

After the stroker kit they start to sound like a coyote and in mho it takes away from it's uniqueness. Definitely still an awesome car!
First difference, your m4 plays audio speakers of a virtual engine in the cabin to cover the lacking 3.0 I6 sound (no bias there, that is pure fact, i mean what exotic plays audio engine sound to fool the driver that is where bmw started to fail), whereas the e92 m3 is all real hardcore, no phoney audio trying to recreate sound, it IS the engine sound. Other thing i can tell you're used to your m4 low end torque, you need to go up there in the 6k-8k RPM for longer times. It's a different driving style.

Yes, that doesn’t help if you prefer the original sound. Only a few reasons it is able to have the higher pitched sound actually. One is it’s around 8500rpm another is incorporating the “H” pipe between the mufflers, and a few other ways...It’s hard to maintain this sound with these cross plane crank V8’s in the E90 chassis the typical “euro” V8 sound we commonly associate with Ferrari and McLaren and the Porsche 918 for example all use flat plane cranks. It’s my personal favorite sound 🤙🏼 I don’t want to bore you on how it produces it sound but basically the cylinders fire in descending or ascending order giving a more linear sound this achieving the that unique tone and pitch... anyway there are ways to tune you’re exhaust (equal length headers, X pipe delete etc.)
@@skizzlemane1 one thing I love about the E9X M3 is the high strung nature of the car. I wouldn't want to spend that crazy money to take away that characteristic. Does the stroker still rev high?

in fact it has a 100 rpm increase 👍🏼 it would just be a matter of choosing an exhaust to compliment the conversation and continue to suit your taste... I reiterate, the best option would be adding equal length long tube headers, even to a stock setup, this would have your desired sound signature, and be that much sweeter 🤙🏼

I have the e60 m5. Currently on my 2nd one. I was contemplating getting the m3 but I didn’t want to be slower. I always wondered what a stroker m3/m5 supercharged would put out in terms of sheer power.
A guy did it, 5.5L Stroker with an ESS blower. Thing does 190mph in a standing mile drag race.

Where did the 3.1 sec 0 - 60 claim in your title come from? A S/C'd M3 with drag radials run mid 3 seconds to 60, which has more power than the stroker kit. As a owner and fan of the E92 M3 chassis, probably should remove that claim for our sake.
That claim comes from my drag slip. 3.1 to 60 at Milan drag strip with drag radials on a prepped surface, ran an 11.3. Didn’t know being an “owner and a fan” meant trying to tear down others with negativity and unfounded ignorance.

For 90k you can buy brand new fully load Z51 vette and hit 0 to 60 in 2.9 sec SMH. And you have midengine sports car. Add S/C or TT in Z51 and your in supercar territory for less than $140k
