    You hit the nail on the head: this car is about the driving experience. If you want faster for the money, buy a corvette or something boosted.. but this car offers the best feeling for the price. Where I really fell in love with mine is on the track. These cars were designed with road racing in mind! Don't be scared of higher mileage cars as long as they have records. I have 114k on mine and stole it practically for 17k.

    I own a '13 M3 convertible. I just bought a Mkv Supra that's faster than the M3. I've sold or traded in 3 cars, not boring cars, expensive fast cars and guess what car is still in my garage?.. That M3 is timeless. The downshifts, the lines, the style, the sound, not to mention the high reving V8. It's an instant classic that I'm never getting rid of. My supra us faster for sure but the M3 is an amazing machine. Buy it correctly and you'll have literally zero issues. I've had zero issues with mine but I'm meticulous with my maintenance which by the way I do myself since day 1 (bump those $300 oil changes at the stealerships). Buy one now for LESS than 1/3 of the price of a new one and watch how many thumbs up you get, years after it came out. Cool video Cody. 👍

I've heard of many people who got F80 M3s and went back to the V8. Have you done the GTS tune on your transmission? I did on mine (software from BPM) and it made a big difference. Shifts are quicker up and down, and it's more refined in auto mode as well.

But the sound, the feel is better than a majority of the cars in the same category at the M3 produced today. One of the better owner reviews I have read on the E9X M3. I have had mine for 3 years it’s a Comp Pak and standard. It my 3rd M3 model and to me the best. Yes the F80 is faster but does not drive as well as the e90. And as you have said that is what you buy one of these cars for. Yes there are better cars. I would love a Porsche but for the money these are without a doubt the Best Bang for your Bucks. I will do a tune and most likely test pipes as that combination seems to smooth out any issues and does give that initial take off a nice boost and grows the smile one of these puts on your face. Thanks for posting.

    My first Bimmer was the 330i w/ sports package; got rid of it after 75k miles as it continues to have issues; then got a 5 series 535i; it was a big upgrade compare to the 3 series. At around 80k miles it starts to have issues; water pump, Ac system just to name a few. It was becoming a money pit. Got rid of it and switched to Lexus RCFsport; what a difference. Yes, it’s under powered compare to its rivals but not much and unless you’re racing or tracking it that won’t matter in the public road for daily use because it’s a reliable king. However, I’ve always liked the m3 e90 - e92 and thinking of getting one since it’s naturally aspirated; how’s the reliability and maintenance?

    The driving enthusiast is a dying breed. These days its all about 0-6 times, pops and bangs, and turbos bro! I wouldn't own an M3 because they are just too heavy to me. That being said, if BMW had done the right thing and put this engine and a manual gearbox in the Z4M Coupe, there would have been a title with my name on it.

    I bought my 2011 e92 m3 in March and the 2nd day of owning it I bottom out and messed up my transmission pan and oil cooler lines which was a 2.5k fix with new motor mounts, then 1 week later I was on the freeway and there was an accident that had recently happened and I ran over a bumper and it tore my belly pan and transmission cover. I haven't fixed that yet but I do have the parts but man it sucks that all that happened in 1 month of owning it

    In the market for this car but idk how its power stacks up with current times. Even with full bolt ons and tune it'll get you to about 400 to the wheels, which is just the m2 stock. Stock mustangs/camaros are also pulling near or over 400whp out the box. I love everything else about this car, it looks awesome and sounds beautiful. Currently trying to find a low mileage one but they're up there in the mid to high 30-40s.

    Be prepared to drop $2k every 50k miles on rod bearings. It’s not a one-time only service. Add in quality tires and brakes, this car starts to cost you - not counting any BMW surprises that come up without a warranty.

    • @zaknefain100
      @zaknefain100 Před 4 lety +1

      The issue isn't the 'design' of the rod bearings or the crankshaft oiling, which would be one reason for cyclic failure, it's that the original bearing specs are too tight. Buy a quality rod bearing, set the correct clearance and your problem is solved.
      If you do purchase one that hasn't had the rod bearings changed, make sure you're doing oil analysis. Blackstone or any other company that provides this service can tell you if bearing particulate (Cu, Sn) levels are high.

    • @alloutcars2872
      @alloutcars2872 Před 3 lety

      no you don't. the clearance in the rod bearings oem is too tight, once you do them with a good quality set i bet your fine for 100k miles. you also have to understand 50k miles on this car is at LEAST 5 years, 2k every 5 years is not a big deal. especially for the quality of car,. actually immensely reliable. just an insane car all around especially the sound

    So i bought a 2009 e92 with 100k (rod bearings done at 90k)....what would be the most affordable way to add real power and what kit? As in turbo/supercharge...it already has exhaust and intake. Not in a hurry to get the tune just because i dont feel the gains are worth the cost. In fact its my understanding that there really is no gain, just a re map. So basically the difference between driving in standard vs "m" mode. Any truth to this?

      I’ve been looking at e92 M3 or c6 z06. Unfortunately, due to the nature of pushrod engines the LS7 only revs to 7000 rpm, which is A LOT for a pushrod. But with almost 500lb ft torque on tap from 3000 rpm you don’t need to rev it out! Also, the newer gt mustangs have almost 450 hp and rev to 7500. So pretty close and no rod bearings to deal with 😅

    What car do you get after this? Not much else. Like this car tops out most cars, so yeah it's not the best car but it's one of the best cars. People ask me what i'm going to get next, well I have thought of it but there isn't much of an upgrade from this car to the next. I'd have to get an exotic to "upgrade" but i'm losing the practicality this M3 and it's similar competitors have. The transmission thing, yes sometimes it's a little jerky but sometimes its smooth. No its not slow for todays standards.This m3 with the DCT is the top ten fastest shifting transmissions in the world. The steering wheel thing, I feel it direct TBH. I love this car and I wouldn't get anything else as a daily.
