Lexus LS460 control arm failure and knocking noises are a common issue and complaint on these vehicles. Watch my videos and you can fix that! Some AWD arms are different than RWD.
2007-2009 (and 2010-2011) Lexus LS460 RWD CAN upgrade to the revised 2012-2017 control arms. Lexus does NOT advertise this.
1) The steering knuckle is the same 07-17. This is good news if we are going to start swapping different part numbers control arms. That tells us the geometry is going to be the same.
2) The front lower arm was revised from silver to the black painted version, per the TSB related to knocking noise when braking.
www.clublexus.com/forums/atta...
3) The original part numbers for this front lower arm are 48620-59015 and 48640-59015. The revised part numbers are for the 2012+ fitment and are 48620-59035 with 59055 replacing that one and 48640-59035 with 59045 replacing that one. Based on the TSB, Lexus confirmed that 07-17 lower front arms interchange, but websites only show the new part numbers as fitting 2012+. Beware! If you have a 2007-2011 there is a great chance that Lexus will sell you the old, original silver arms referred in the TSB.
3) Lastly, while there is nothing official, the same conclusion can be said about the revised lower main arms that only show fitment for 12-17. Original 2007 part numbers are 48620-50070 and 48640-50070. The revised better bushing versions show on websites as "only" fitting 2012+ and are 48640-50131 and 48620-50131. Beware! If you have a 2007-2011 there is a great chance that Lexus will sell you the old, bad arms seen in this video.

Thanks for the great summary video dispelling the myths.
I try to remain factual and to the point!
@@LILEVO you accomplished both. Thanks
My bushings are starting to wear. Thank you for the excellent video!
Awesome video! I've actually been a customer of yours in the past, you rebuilt a speedometer for me
5:42 spider just hangin out😂
Thanks for the info. I have an 08 Ls460L with just about every common issue these cars get😅
fuuck yeeess!!! exactly the information i was looking for!! i put all new bushings in old arms with Febest bushings, that rear lower arm bushing took a crap after 3k miles. Was going to check if the revised arms fit and you just proved it! Thank you very much!!
The spider @ 5:42 😄
I will come back to this video when my bushings eventually wear out.
hello, good afternoon, which front shock absorbers of Lexus LS 460 of the year 2007, what do you recommend? greetings
Thanks
So are you positive this will fit an 08 ls460?
5:42 😱
hurts to hear, but thank you. Almost 200k on mine and it definitely needs a full suspension rebuild in the front. Saw some people had luck with the rockauto kit but Im just gonna drive only when necessary and just get the oem parts.
I have tried poly bushings and aftermarket arms in the past and in my experience they only last 10k miles or so
@@LILEVO appreciate the insight 🙌🏼
See that darn spider
Have the same issue with my 08
What’s a preload?
Damn, that made my finger start hurting.
Great video;
I have 2 Qs
- How much are the 8 front OEM arms
- does this car have control arms at the rear wheels??
Thanks
No issues in the rear. OEM arms can be found for $100-$150 new on Ebay up to several hundred dollars each from the dealer.
Great video. Would these work on an awd with air suspension?
I updated the description to include both AWD and RWD part numbers.

Do the AWD control arms differ greatly? I just bought a 2008 LS 600hL that definitely needs new control arms.
Lowers are different. The uppers might be the same
Am having the same problem with my 2007 Lexus LS 460 L what was the price for the arms
original from factory part, this japanese guy on ebay (username jp_oosa) has them for about $220 free shipping (new revised 2013-2017 arm)
How much do i torque it when its on the ground
I was wondering that too
So did Lexus finally start using the good control arms in 2013+ ls460’s from the factory ?
Yep
would the rockauto control arms kit work just as well?
Any experience I have had with aftermarket press in bushings or aftermarket cheap controls arms is they will last you about 5-10k miles and you will need to do it again.
@@LILEVO damn i just bought some frome mevotech lmao. imma definetly check out the updated versions tho
Can those newer 2012 front arms you used, also be used on the 09 AWD LS460? I know there are differences in the RWD and AWD arms. Can you also explain what preloading is? Thanks!
No, AWD has totally different part numbers and arms. Preloading is ensuring the car is resting on its own weight, simulating sitting on the ground.
FYI those redisigned arms fail the same way, just as fast. Sad really.
What?? Noooooo!😭
Or, Figs polyurethane.
unfortunately didn't work for me . the parts didn't fit 2010 LS RW
What didn't fit? If they fit a 2007 they should fit everything in between
@@LILEVO , the main lower control arm didn't fit ,it was off by 10 mm in width and longer than the original as well. think i have to buy the original 48640-50070 / 48620-50070. these Lower main 48640-50131 (2012-2017)
Lower main 48620-50131 (2012-2017) ddinot match my 2010 LS RW 460
@@naadly02 You bought these from Lexus? Do you have photos? 48640-50070 and 48620-50070 are the same part numbers for a 2007-2009 and are what was installed on my vehicle when doing this conversion.
@@LILEVO actually i was wrong , i managed to get then to fit, i got these from Ebay imported directly from Japan, thank your for help man,
@@naadly02 - Did the Japanese Ebay arms work out for you? Im contemplating purchasing them, too from Ebay seller but I wasn't sure of the fit/quality vs OEM sold by Lexus dealer.
The after market control arms work fine it is the CRAP RUBBER Lexus uses in all their control arms. You will pay at least tens times more for dealers parts ps it was always bad engineering on the suspension. Why don’t you tell us what you pd at the dealer for these control arms ? 😳. Remember he even said the rubber bushings were crap from the dealer. The control arms are easy to duplicate so whether they are made in CHINA OR INDIA etc… the problem is the inferior rubber bushings not the control arms themselves. The dealer does not sell the bushings only. This is the only major thing I replaced in my 2008 LS460L AND THE ONLY FLAW the 2007-2011 or 12 has mechanically 137,500mi and replaced at 90,067mi. The dealer at two Lexus stealerships wanted almost the same price to replace the upper and lower control arms right and left side at $9700. I bought the control arms online had a mechanic remove and replace them in 2.5 hrs and my total cost was less than $800 and didn’t need a 4 wheel alignment Any mechanic can do & this mechanic had never done this before and no special tools needed.
True, but the aftermarket rubber or poly bushings are even worse than the factory rubber. Any time I tried aftermarket press in rubber bushings, press in polyurethane bushings, or aftermarket arms I was replacing them again after 5-10k miles or 1-3 years.
In 2020, I paid $1653 for all the new OEM arms:
48620-50131 $234
48640-50131 $234
48620-59055 $120
48640-59045 $245
48610-59135 $150
48610-59125 $150
48630-59125 $280
48630-59135 $240
