- I'm back! I've got more time now to dedicate to the Step 2 Channel!
Haha, well.. pretty much as described there. I got skunked out hunting for a campsite. It pretty much takes me a day or so to get things lined up and check out potential camping spots to be sure they will work for a video. This is my life behind the scenes :)
Cheers everyone!
Happy Step Tuesday everyone! We're on the road for a few weeks getting as much filming done as possible. There will be just little snippits of life behind the scenes popping up on this channel until we get back and put some house updates up. Hunker down!
Have fun!
Cheers
I hope you have fun out there and more importantly stay safe. Stopping in Cold Lake would be nice as well🍺⛺️🤞
Welcome to Medicine Hat. You should check out police point park while you in the city.
@@stephenbolger4581 great idea
I dunno, pretty sure the highest density of “cougars” in North America is in the bar down the street from me 😅
lol nice one
😁
Sounds nasty
Address please. Hahah
😂
Who else gives Steve a like before watching the video?
Me! Automatically!
It's inevitable
First
Haha me too!!
Me!
Cougars, always around in the weekends and happy hour
I know a place where happy hour attracts Sabertooths 🤣
@@alexp123e I have a rule , it is time to leave happy hour when a honey badger starts looking like a barbie doll
For that reason.....i so glad i quit alcohol 12 years back now.
Lol
🤣😆
I feel this guys decency and integrity as an honest , down to earth , genuine guy ! Shines through the camera ! He could video paint drying and be very very likeable ..,wish you every success Steve ! The world would be a better place if we had more gentleman like you !!
Yep
Love the shoutout to Medicine Hat at the very end I want to recognize them for being the first city in North America to recently completely eliminate homelessness with their Housing First Policy. I’m an American and I wish we could get our act together like our neighbors to the north on this issue. I love Canada and can’t wait to visit again when the border opens up.
Howd they do that? Pay them to move camp to a town over?
We don't always think about all the extra work that goes into filming and producing these adventures, so I sure appreciate this! Thanks for all you do, Steve.
I was watching something else then jumped to this that’s how much I like this guy👍
Me too..👍
Same !
Absolutely 💯!!
Crazy!
Don't let youtube change you.... Be yourself and let the cowards deal with it!.
Thank you for bringing us along on your little adventures.
If I was him I would block them people so they could not bug him again.
@@charlieretro internet is to big for that my friend, you gotta do what OP said, don't let the tube change ya and just know when ya step out that room or shut the laptop closed turn off ya phone etc gotta know to leave the tube world behind
@@charlieretro why would he do that? Steve's not a pussy.
Steve, you need a liquor sign like that. Just post it at any of your campsites. 🍺🍺🍺
😂😂 That’s a really good idea.
Steve: “This is in the area of the largest density of cougars ever recorded.”
Me: “Awesome!”
Me (a few seconds later...): “Oh, he means the animal kind.”
Love how Steve has all sorts of camping types down to a science at this point. Really like the behind the scenes stuff. 👍
I honestly thought this channel would just be Steve sipping on some step 2's but this is just as good :)
There will be! I've cut way back on step 2's to shed a few pounds before beach season haha... but there will be some beer chats on here.
even better, thanks for the interesting update Steve.
@@SteveWallisStep2 you should check out grand forks. It's out by bow island. It would be similar to camping in lions gate park by the river
@@wanderingwiththewhitbos4518 lions gate park by the river? in west vancouver by the capilaino river?
@@mrbillmacneill story I'm talking about the one in medicine hat alberta
I love imagining Steve in his car with his hand up to the side of his face staring side eyed through splayed fingers, pretending not to look, as he rolls slowly by a wooded bluff in some greenbelt area-- just stealth creepin'.
When it comes to cypress hills, the good camp sites aren't easily accessible in winter, areas like Reesor Lake, Spruce Coulee, Nickle Springs. Spots like Firerock, Ferguson Hill, and Lodgepole are past the Elkwater town area. I'm from Medicine Hat, and used to camp these areas as a child, not so much anymore as the misses is the hotel type.
Thanks, Steve! It looks so easy when all we see is the edited video. It's interesting to see some of the prep work and missteps you have deal with to make it happen.
would love to see updates on your property and your house. The tree house and so on.
Thanks for the drive, Steve! Never seen the Cypress Hills in snow. Yeah, and I never once saw a train go across that thing in Lethbridge, so thanks for that video, too!
Being from sask. The cypress hills is one of my favourite spots to camp!
Thanks, Steve - it's interesting to see a little 'behind the scenes' action of how you identify sites. Much love to you and the beautiful wife.
We’ve camped a few times out there, at the all yearcamp site though, when there isn’t anyone else there. Lol, spent lots of time there, never seen a cougar yet! Beautiful out there. My daughter and her family live in the Hat ❤️ really cool to see familiar surroundings in your film!
This is the man that's living the dream.
I had most of the family talked into a group holiday in Canada, but hearing about bears put our mother off. Now I can reassure her we'll know if there's a bear around because the cougars will go into hiding, probably in our tent. Thanks Steve!
Idk what it's about steve's face, it's very calming.
Any video of Steve is a good video ! Love coming home to a new video! Onya Steve
Bonus camping with Steve! ❤️
The Reesor Lake camp sites are just a little farther down the road. The registration is by the boat launch then keeping going around the lake after a small stream crossing. Nice place to stay if you’re ice fishing. It was awesome seeing you in my home town, can’t wait until Thursday and see where you found to hunker down
A Steve Wallis video on a Tuesday?! Well my week just got significantly better!
well ok beautiful wife wasn't crazy about the idea of you camping with "COUGARS " anyway 🤣🍺🚫
Are these the kind of cougars i keep getting ads about that are in my local area?
Awesome! Thanks for sharing Steve. Hunker Down forever
"Hi, and welcome to driving with Steve!"
“Is there firewood available?”
- Questions Canadians ask when they “go out”.
When they go "oot".
The cougars in my area are usually hanging out at the bars. The kind of bars that are dark inside because these cougars like to hide too lol
WooHoo! New video. I'm psyched. At first I thought you were stealth camping in car wash. Then you threw me with the "cougars" comment; I immediately thought bar. Thanks for the view at 2:45.
I had to LOL when i saw what you called your 2nd Channel, “Step 2” in deed!
I enjoyed this video.
It’s nice to see your campsites preferences and
see a different part of Canada
Looking forward to see your final pick!
Take care ❤️ 🇨🇦
The largest collection of cougars in North America is in The Villages, FL. Just sayin'
Hahahah
I just watched "Some Kind Of Heaven" the other day -- this is 100% accurate
Happy Step TWO-sday..... love it!!! Our last names are almost identical and pronounced exactly the same... brothers from a different mother.
You impress the hell of out me with your fearless camping in sub-freezing weather. Most people wouldn't last two hours in those conditions. Keep on keeping on, Brother Steve! Cheers from New Hampshire, USA!
Thanks for this update Steve. Good luck with finding a campground. Stay safe. Best regards from Australia.
I like the more regular content we've been getting here and on FB. Keep up the great work.
Awesome. I never miss an episode
Yet Another Interesting Video.
It's always nice to watch something from You.
Greetings!
I like the Intro Steve's analogy when I am not camping I am looking for a place to camp....
Glad to see that you guys have Popeye's Chicken up in Canada! Always remember to ask for Cajun Sparkle because it tastes amazing.
Love the reconnaissance mission video.
good enough steve, just good to know you and beautiful wife are well.
..exploring with Steve,,cats beware,,lol...stay safe..
Hey Steve! I’d love to see a Hunker Down podcast at some point. I know you’re super busy at the moment so I don’t mean right now but maybe some point in the future? Hearing about your boondocking adventures and life stories would be fascinating to us.
Was just there, i grew up there. I can remember in 1990 my dads freind spotted a cougar and was told there is none. They started returning from Montana around then. We seen on just east of Irvine recently , Great campgrounds there
Awesome vids Steve buddy....from one true Canadian to another....my fav time is cruising back roads and looking for neat places...
It's so fun. I love driving those back roads checking for animals and camping spots. I could do it for weeks on end!
@@SteveWallisStep2 yes sir....i am from northern Ontario so lots of lakes and back roads...and tons of FREE camping...plus at these sites all the step 2s you can have ...tons of easy fire wood too...
Always great to see you Steve, keep living the dream 😁
Very cool!
Lots of cougar's. My kind of place...
Makes me appreciate all the work that goes into the planning of your videos. I'm learning a lot about Alberta. Thanks Steve!
Appreciate the behind the scenes look. Always nice to have a different perspective.
Woo Hoo just saw this. Nice to see you before Thursday 😊
At this point I would watch Steve go to Canadian tire to hunt for new gear.... and the store to see what’s for dinner.
Cougars...after the young bucks no doubt
If you're young and small a cougar would love to sink their claws into you.
@@SteveWallisStep2 well that leaves me out
@@SteveWallisStep2 phew I'm safe then
Haven't been to Medicine Hat since 1984 when on exercise up the road at Suffield. Anyone else remember the "Sin Bin"?
Just love watching you videos before I go to sleep, your the best thing since Survivorman!
I’m looking forward to this one Steve. Can’t wait to see the spot you’ll find. I’m also guessing that beautiful wife is worried about those cougars 😁
loved this ! now i'm looking forward to thursday's video even more! and yes, please give us all the updates you can!
Good luck, looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Cheers!
What a pleasant surprise...
You're awesome Steve!
We just spent 4 days at this park on our bicycles, cycling from Elkwater to Centre block and back during the hottest weather recorded for September. Didn't see any cougars, just lots of cows. Some of the more remote self serve campsites are really nice, but there are also some touristy spots if you want mini golf or ice cream. It's interesting to see the landscape with snow on it!
Oasis for cougars? I can confirm older women love when you play them wonderwall.
I'm amazed how mild March weather looks to be in Southeast Alberta.
I'm feeling you, Steve. I tried to get to my usual state forest site today and couldn't make it up the mountain with all the ice, guess I'm stuck until things thaw down here in Pennsylvania. Better Luck to you soon!
Rock on Steve! Love the behind the scenes action... midweek even! 💪😁
Love how positive this channel is 🥰
In my area a Cougar Oasis is called "The Grocery Store"..
Love the step 2 channel!!!
"The place is crawling with Cougars."
Careful Steve...you know how them older women are.
😛🤣🤣🤣🤣
Next car needs to be a 4wheel drive Steve, take us to some awesome places then fill in the rest with the usual stealth camps.
You should title these "behind the Steve"
"Behind Camping with Steve... with Steve"
Behind the tent or behind the camp
Hey you took my recommendation!! I live there. But that first spot at spruce coulee is a walk in tenting site. You may have been able to stay there!! Its only 50 ft into the trees
Great update brother
I like the Canada hat you’re wearing. Good video
I grew up in the Driftless Region in the extreme corner of SE Minnesota. It’s an area the glaciers completely missed, so it’s a beautiful area of rolling hills and the bluffs along the Mississippi.
Looks like there would surely be some awesome spots out there
Thx steve Be safe bro ✌🏻🇺🇸
I like this Day in the Life ki d of with Steve👍🏼
Great video, only way i will get to see some of Canada. Love it
Would love to see a mountain side camp!
Steve you should try camping on this island I've heard about. Prince of Wales Island. No tourists! Accommodations scarce.
Looking good Steve
What an awesome job to have.
Oh and meant to say - really enjoying your extra vids Steve . Great if from the UK 🇬🇧
Sorry “ greetings” caught by autospill!
Damn Steve! You drove so long that you ended up finding some snow.
The Ferguson Hill and Lodgepole campgrounds on the Elkwater side of the Cypress Hills are pretty nice! Tucked away from the townsite and some nice views. "Stealth Camping On A Cliff" at the Conglomerate Cliffs on the Saskatchewan side would be pretty cool too. ;) There is also a really crazy spot called the "Mystery Rocks" on the Saskatchewan side that would make for an amazing video. All the best, Steve! Looking forward to the next video as always.
Great video Steve
That scenery reminds me very much of some of the areas in the former USSR that another CZcamsr travels around - Bald and bankrupt
Saw a fan of yours camping today by the round about while getting on the freeway
Great video Steve!
Have you ever thought about stealth camping in a golf course.. Courses by my have a patch of woods
Steve I camped last week in the East Block in Saskatchewan side of Cypress Hills. Super nice 👌 sites and tonnes of free firewood.
what epic views from where you stopped to stretch your legs , nice area , But having people around naw, id rather no one be around where i camp myself . nice wee video behind the scenes.
Look at those mountains!
