- We've started filming random little reviews of campgrounds we go past. This one is the Wayside Campground in Foremost Alberta. It features around 30 campsites with full hookups. The water was off for the winter, but rates seem on par with other campgrounds, with a good value on the tent camping.
Hi everyone! I'm trying out random campground reviews on our travels. I figured it would be a nice way to showcase smaller campgrounds that people haven't seen or heard of before. Let me know if you think this is an ok idea or if I should quit now and never make another one haha.
Cheers!
Love the idea, as someone with little camping experience I wish you would comment on the price for the experience. This place sounds reasonable for Canadian dollars? Love the content keep it coming.
I’m never going to find myself in need of reviews of small town Canadian campgrounds, but I’ll be darned if I didn’t watch every minute of it and will watch every one in the future. My vote is more!
I love these series.
This is a great idea. I also liked seeing the town. Kind of like the Old West. In the last videos, I loved the tour of the badlands.
I’d enjoy seeing more camp areas of Canada. I’m from the states and from what I’ve seen so far there’s some killer places there! Great content Steve! Keep em coming bud! Stay safe out there!
I like that this one is First and Foremost in the series!
Haha I didn't even catch that! you're way more on the ball than me today.
yes , me like
I will be disappointed if episode 2 is Furthermore.
Caught that too! Lol
😂
Steve just reviewed a slide and a see saw for us, the people. What an absolute legend
I could watch anything with your delivery and witty antidotes
Why thanks!
Antidotes for the rabid bunnies I suppose. Anecdotes would be good for other purposes.
Anecdotes ?
@@bobbyk6585 lol
Maybe that’s that Steve is: the antidote to everything else.
Thanks Bud. My Sister in Law and hubby stopped in at Foremost and the campsite was full for a ball tournament. A fellow stopped them and asked if they needed help. Turns out he was the mayor and he brought them to a city lot and told them they could stay for free and to give him a call if they needed anything. Fine people down south! Check out Writing On Stone and Cypress Hill provincial parks if you have time. Stop by Cochrane on your way home and you can do a stealth camp under the giant cowboy sculpture. Great city/mountain views, “off hours quiet spot”and the night sky’s are great.
Wow. What a wonderful Mayor.
I've got small children and cannot camp as much as I used to in my youth, I watch your videos to get out of the house while still in my house. THANK YOU STEVE!
My earliest memory is a set of some "flashes" from the time my family went camping at a place called Blackwater Falls. Just bits and pieces; it was in the early '70s, and I was but three or four years old. When your kids are out of diapers, and toddling instead of crawling... take them camping. And not to one of these "parking lot campgrounds," either. Start them off young enough that their first experience isn't colored by feelings of resentment because they had to leave their electronic crap at home, and you will be doing them a great service. . . .
Dont let having small children stop you from camping... you may need to change up your style a bit depending on what kind of camping you are used to but camping is such a great activity to share with little ones.
Take the kids camping im sure they'll love it once they're there 😉
Watch, Outdoor Boys channel...lots of great videos on camping with kids. Very fun father and sons on adventure camping.
Yeah don't let your kids stop you...well unless their really young. lol But get out their once you feel comfortable with your kids. Some of my best memories are of when I was 5 or 6 going to Northern Manitoba with my parents. If you can get out there and explore. If anything to save your kids from becoming phone zombies. 😂 Sorry its what I call my older brother's girls cause they are always glued to tablets or phones. Something I don't see in my younger brothers kids who live up in Whitehorse. Now there is a great place to visit. I've seen the territories but I got to see BC and maybe spend a few months in the Maritimes. I got to get on that one.
This is going to be an amazing experience. Steve Wallis will be to camping as Rick Steve's is to Europe. ❤ I love it! God bless you and Beautiful wife!
2:12. Steve, relives youth and goes down slide.
Bird....aaahhhhhhhhhhhhh
I don't know why I found that so funny. Great video!!!!
A random Camping with Steve video... my night is a happy one.
Glad to be part of the very beginning of these reviews!
I'm still watching old material to support my favorite utuber.
Keep these kinds of vids coming. And ur right if ur gonna be there or passing by places why not do these kind of reviews/tours. Great stuff!
Steve was generous with the two Star . But , again this is the first . Can't wait to see a one Star .
That place is pretty grim unless you drive a rolling hotel.
Give it till Spring. It'll look way better with some green on the trees and grass.
One star's gotta be the wal mart parking lot, or under a high traffic bridge.
@@jttech44 Every Walmart parking lot is at least a 2 1/2 star, given all the amenities. Can go to washroom till late closing, pick up hot rotten ronnies, tape, tarps, rope, lighters, snacks and food, all in one place and free camping to boot.
I like your random videos. You keep makin' em, I'll keep watchin' em happily.
How good would it be if this channel was the number 1 source for actual decent info on non-provincial campgrounds in Alberta (and beyond)? There are websites but most are super outdated and inaccurate. Makes roadtripping difficult. Stick with it Steve!
Perhaps this could be a whole 'nother channel? Yay, more Steve!
Oh man don't get me started. Everyone skips over Sk and they shouldn't. Not that the prov gov would EVER give you reason to. Get into the tree line areas North of Yorkton and Saskatoon and there are allot of great places if you need trees.
Thanks Steve for introducing us to the "Steve Star Scale". Keep on keeping on Steve! You make it and I will watch!
As someone who actually is into camping in Alberta, I plan to watch the hell out of this series.
Met too!
I know right everyone skips over Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta and goes straight to BC or Ontario. When there are great gems in the Southern Western provinces but absolutely fantastic camping as you work your way North into each provinces tree lines. My home town of Sturgis Sk has a fantastic little park in our river valley along the river with amenities and nobody goes there. We are just as the tree lines starts and there's actually great places to go as you work your way North of Green Spirit lake. You just need to find them.
Introducing the Steve Star Scale! 🌟
2:01 - 2:20 I think that bird was laughing at you! Good video and review. Loved it.
Haha beautiful wife had a laugh when she saw that part of the video. Birds flying off when I buckled the end of the slide and it sounded like a shotgun
LOL! I thought that same thing. :-D
Love the idea for a series. I have always liked seeing around the places you are hunkering down at.
This is a great idea! It was quick to the point, yet we saw all it had to offer! Perfect!!
Thanks so much!
Awesome idea for a new series. I live just a couple hours from the Alberta border, so these reviews will come in super handy for me!
2:15 the wildlife laughing at him on the slide lol
Offering simple area campground reviews? Heck yes, Steve.
This is my favorite classic episode of Steve's classic campground reviews
Loved this. That playground looks like it’s from the 70’s.
heck yes, already love this series!
There is showers in there! I worked for the village of foremost and spent my fair share of time around there. Thanks for showcasing it Steve the people of Foremost will love this.
* waving to the good folks in Foremost *
Thank you, both of your channels are really appreciated. You and beautiful wife take all of our family to places that, otherwise, we couldn't afford. we love the way you respect people and all life in general and we are always waiting for the moment when you cook your delicious meals. The Taco's recipe is our favourite. Greetings from Wales and best wishes with your future projects! 😊 💚 🌈
Two Steve Stars is generous. Like you, I love trees, scenery and privacy, most importantly. Great series, Steve!
I hope Steve doesn't forget about these campground reviews. There's a TON of potential here! Much love, Steve!
I appreciate these types of Videos. Back to Basics but still great knowledge. Thanks Buddy 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Now I just want Covid to be over so Steve travels the continent reviewing campgrounds.
I’ve always wanted to see Steve across the border in Montana in a video being it’s so close! It would be even more amazing to see Steve explore some of the SW us. In my humble opinion the SW like Utah and it’s national parks and red rock are some of the most spectacular places in the USA and really the whole world
I think we can all agree, just being outside is beautiful. That's why I like Steve's channel, I feel like that's the perspective.
The Steve star scale...love it..great new series this will be..cheers from Toledo Ohio!
Thank you for the reviews Steve...👋
Love to you playing on the slide bring out the kid in us we love you Steve you make life better just by being take care god bless you are such a blessing ❤
Since you've been wearing that beanie, I've always wondered why there was a maple leaf with a name of Carlada. I've just realized it actually says Canada.
I was more impressed By the town than the campsite. It's nice to see traditional towns and buildings that haven't been spoiled by big supermarkets and developments. More of the same please Steve.
Excellent Idea Steve. Thank you for the Good information on these camp sites.
For some reason, seeing Steven do an excellent review of a common campground is hysterical. I love it and look forward to more.
If they ever reboot Mutual of Omahas Wild Kingdom, I think you'd be a shoe in as host.
What a nice idea. When I come back to Canada one day, I should have a nice idea for where to camp. Thanks, Steve!
I love this! :D If I ever find myself in Foremost... I'm ready.
There are many of these kinds of campgrounds in southern Alberta. A lot of them exist because Farmers and their help like to get away in the summer, but can't leave their livestock, crops etc. unattended for an extended time. These shacks for campgrounds with hookups for the RV, fill the need perfectly and some of them are quite fancy, while being stuck in the middle of no-where.
My wife and I love your videos. Keep up the great work!!!!
Brand new CLASSIC!!!
haha, I was hoping someone would catch that.
you know you are magical when you have 34 views and 41 thumbs up ------- LOVE IT!!!
Stealth camping in plain sight. Cheers
Oh. My. God. I spent two solid weeks looking for a video like this for a local state park (I’m in Texas) that shows the actual campground features and amenities but I came up empty handed.
I wanted to know what kind of electric hookup they had (what kind of plug could I use), what the water hookup looked like, etc. I’m new to camping and it was my very first time to camp so I had no clue whatsoever on what to expect once I got there. I found lots of info on RV hookups but I was in a tent. I wish there was a video like this one available. Instead I found 48843476468733 videos of drone footage of scenery and people showing off their RVs and fancy expensive tents and equipment. Like, dude, can I just get some actual info?
Every park and campground should have a video like this. This was perfect. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Think I'm learning more about Canadian geography in these little snippets than anything else. Cheers Mr. Steve!
We get more Steve? Awesome!
At first blush, it looks kinda like a field with a hedge down the middle... Saying that, it's probably a 'safe' and affordable place to camp on a trip or a visit, in a town most likely full of great people... so there's that, I suppose! 👍🏻
I love the new series idea! Can't wait to see more...
Haha it’s definitely a dreary little campground but any camping is better than none eh?!
@@turkey4957 The barren flatness just accentuates the dreariness of the camping-lot. yuck.
Its rural western Canada. Trust me its as safe as being in your house. Lots of people don't even lock their doors in rural western Canada. I know some find that hard to comprehend but I found it hard to comprehend when I moved to a city and locking your house door. 😅
I like watching the small town tours/mini documentary. It reminds me of PBS shows when I was younger.
I'll definitely be watching these videos.
Great new series the play equipment review and test was a hilarious part.
I get such a kick out of
watching you. I love your sense of humor.
Keep them coming..
Cheers to all
Awesome idea! A recommendation from Steve Wallace is a win in my book!
This video lead me to learning about a town in Alberta called 'Medicine Hat'. What a great name.
You should google 'Moose Jaw'.
@@King_T better yet, GO to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and while you're there, check out the Al Capone connection (under-street tunnels and all). Hidden gem.
@@King_T No do not go to Moose Jaw for camping! 😅 Go see the park, especially the mineral spa and the Capone stuff but I went to school there. Its a service city to Regina and a school town because of SIAST in the middle of a Prairie basically. If the wind isn't freezing you're ass off to death its the dust storms covering everything.
Although stealth camping that park could be fun. The park is like the only good green space for like 80km until you hit Wascanna in Regina or get into cypress hills.
@@loganholmberg2295 You may have missed that my post was just about interesting names, not camping.
This is a really great idea! Will be fun to see different places and I am always up for seeing different campgrounds!
A good topic for this channel, helping both campers and campgrounds which can only be a good thing.
Steve uses a slide? Best Camping with Steve EVER! :)
Im from Germany and most likely will never camp there. He just got something satisfying that makes me watch all of his videos.
I paved the highway through Foremost and a secondary road by Etzikom when working for Border Paving. Very hot and dry there in summer with Rattle Snakes. Great review Steve. The South East part of Alberta has some interesting features.
Good stuff Steve 👊🏼😎! This a REAL campground review that People can trust. Keep em coming Brother
You're a true Canadian, Steve....will watch and enjoy all your videos!!
I have no intention of camping in Canada, but to be in on the world premiere of the Steve Star Scale, is something I'll always be proud of.
If you ever do the Northern prairies are great, especially Manitoba (BC doesn't count too easy.😅) . Also if you're in the Toronto area you only need to get about 100km north of the GTA find some great forest areas where you start to get into the Canadian shield like you do in the Northern treeline in the prairies.
This is such a great idea! I would like to visit Canada and camp while touring. Knowing where some of these camping sites are and what they look like ahead of time is so great! Thanks Steve and Beautiful Wife!
What a great idea Steve, a practical preview of campgrounds by a pro. I thought you would try the swing for sure.
Great review and love the idea for campsite reviews!
Much love and Hunker Down forever
Steve's getting into logistics lmao . Love it
Very nice. Very good location 👍 😃
Thank you. Please keep doing these
Loved it! They need to plant more trees...the slide brought back childhood memories and I laughed when you went down it, that was awesome. Thanks for the warning to stock up on beer! Ha ha ha - do more Steve reviews!
Great idea with the campsite reviews! I'd love to explore more in my backyard and having helpful reviews of Alberta campsites really takes the guesswork out of finding a good camp ground!
I'm going to LOVE this series. Living in Alberta and loving camping, it would be nice to find new campgrounds to visit
Ahh. Steve on a Tuesday! Didn’t have to wait till Thursday’s for my dose. Thanks Steve.
Great series! Can't wait to see more.
I like it! Good Guy Steve, helping out ppl while passing through town
That’s really nice 👍🏼 review, keep them coming @Steve and on plus side we get to hear from more often than just every Thursday 🥳
This is a good idea. Please keep doing this review thing.
The Steve Star Scale. Really like that rating system. Glad to see this addition to the video fleet. 👌
Can’t wait to see a 5 star campground ⛺️ Canada is beautiful. Agree looks like a two star but certainly ok just to pull over for a night or two.
Like this New Steve’s campground ratings vlogs.
Really enjoy this new series, thank you for making it.
Canadian parks seem so safe and clean. Thanks Steve.
Love the review. Please keep them coming.
Steve, this is excellent! Love this series.
Nice addition to the channel! Always good to see updates from you 👍🏼👍🏼
This is really cool ! Im allways looking up reviews for camp grounds now you got vids!
Thanks, Steve. Always looking for spots to stay with provincial parks getting so busy.
this is a great idea and i very much look forward to seeing more episodes. thanks again steve!

Another awesome video, Steve!
What a great idea. Great info for people looking for places to stay along their travels.
Sooooo glad you went down that steel slide!!!
This seems to fit well with your style! More “Camping(or campgrounds) with Steve” is a good thing! 👍🏼
What a cool new idea for a series! Im looking forward to part two :)
I got to give you two Thumbs up for the first time your give information and teaching people and not putting down bushcraft
