  • After buying the EDS Scangauge and being disappointed I thought I would compare the two most popular scan gauges and address the pros and cons.
    I think anyone that heads off road and remote should be investing into a gauge to read and delete any codes so they can get themselves out of trouble!
    its very cheap insurance!

    Not boring, I have had a Scangauge2 for probably about 10 years and you just taught me about the Xgauges. Thank you for that.

    The most useful X-Gauge is Distance to Empty, after a few tank fills, it gets really accurate.

    The EDS is a relabeled TurboGuage IV, they can be found for as little as AU$50 on sale or about AU$65-70 at normal price.

    If you choose to use the boost instead of map, you need to calibrate it. You turn ignition on, let the SG load up, and you should see it go to zero. Then it's all good.

    Buy a Rolex or a Chinee knockoff. Have my Scan Gauge 2 since 2008. Now on my sixth vehicle. Most vehicles don't give voltage or actual engine temp. Many of the parameters are beyond the average driver, just program the ones suitable for your needs. It could save an expensive trip to the shop with the code reader function as well.

    • @crabtrap

      the bluetooth type scanners readers have awful data lag and also can be glitche inducing to your obd2/ECU. scangauge 2 is a very solid lab grade unit.

    The 'EDS' is a bit of a knock off - and does not seem to be available in the US.
    As for 'soft plastic' on the EDS, yes that fills very cool as long as it lasts. But that soft, rubbery plastic - often used to make cheap stuff 'appear' better - tends to break down into a horrible sticky mess. If unlucky, not even a dose of isopropyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, or even acetone (which can do real damage) will clean up the sticky mess.

    • @SarahandKeelanTravels

    • @SarahandKeelanTravels
      @SarahandKeelanTravels  Před 3 lety

      Ive heard of them however haven't properly researched it. Those gauges generally speaking arnt programable (same as EDS) I know a lot of them if not all of them won't show you Torque converter temps and EGT's which are pretty essential if your towing.
