- These days in 2021, Kevin Durant is chilling out on the Brooklyn Nets with his buddies Kyrie Irving and James Harden, and also Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldrige and Patty Mills (Kevin Durant really loves superteams), and it can be easy to forget about how that one time on July 7 2016, KD disrespected every person in history to ever pick up a basketball and snaked the Oklahoma City Thunder to sign with the Golden State Warriors. Goodbye Russell Westbrook, hello Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, Zaza Pachulia, JAVALE MCGEE and a free couple NBA championship rings. Kevin Durant is a snake, a pathetic slithery slimy, anorexic snake that took the easy road to a championship. He choked to the Warriors in the 2016 Western Conference Finals when he helped OKC blow a 3-1 lead, and two months later becomes a Golden State Warrior himself. KD definitely ruined what could have been one of the best finals rivalries in recent memory lol... the first two were great and needed closure, and suddenly KD just shows up 😂
Not to mention the Thunder weren't No Scrubs either they could have easily won the championship they were up 3-1 against the 73 Warriors... and then on top of that imagine if the Rockets ended up getting Chris Paul like they did in real life there would have been so many good teams that could have won the championship instead of it just being the Warriors

Also three of the 5 stars in Golden State were draft picks and if you were the warriors gm and KD wanted to join, you’re not just gonna say, “No go back to OKC we don’t want you.” You will instantly do your best to sign him. And honestly, we would’ve been better without boogie. Also, the thunder were a terrible organization that kept getting rid of great players for picks when they could’ve been great in the moment and started to rebuild when they needed to. I think he made the right decision for his career when he left and joined the warriors cause as long as he was on the thunder, they weren’t going anywhere but down.

This subject is always fun. I agree with you on Kevin Durant joining a team that had down 3-1 like come on man?! As for LeBron and the heat him joining the is similar but different. The Warriors had a complete team already. KD just made them waaay to good. LeBron joining the heat yes their team was good before he got there. And the way he handled it was awful. They still needed to play together to get use to each other. KD and the Warriors really just like the rest of the team all he had to do was shoot 3's.
For players having to get super stars unfortunately this day and age it's showing you have to win. Only team showing otherwise right now is the heat. One of main reason i want them to win. Lebron is a great player and made mistakes but he's making up for them. KD he seems very passive aggressive.

I think there should be a rule in place that prevents current all stars or all nba players from joining a team in free agency that already has 4 all stars on its roster. Such a rule would prevent the creation of super superteams

Although there is one part I have to disagree with you on. You said he had an amazing team at OKC.. Which he did, and it was much better than LeBron's team during his first stint at Cleveland, but KD realized that he couldn't win with Westbrook. Westbrook is probably the worst decision maker in the league. The amount of games they blew because of his shitty decision making is probably one of the main reasons he left OKC. But believe me, I 100% agree that he's a snake ass bitch for going to Golden State.

So you can excuse lebron for leaving because cleveland failed to build arround him, yet the fact that OKC got worse supporting cast for each passing year, is not an issue. Oladipo was borderline net negative on OKC, so obviously there was more than just a problem with the people on the floor considering how good oladipo actually was. KD needed help and got none. russ got worse and worse with the tunnel vision and the coaching staff never seemed to make an effort to set up a system.

Love vs Draymond basically equal each other out. Love is probably a slight better individual player but always underperformed due to his role on Cleaveland, while Draymond's role allowed him to excel. Dray is also a DPOY
Zaza vs Tristan equal each other out and aren't really a factor.
So basically, Warriors individual matchups with Cavs are either equal in impact or way better. And as having 2 much better players is 40% of the players on the floor, 40% is a massive margin to be better.

Shaq did the same thing. He ran away from the Orlando Magic and Michael Jordan to join the LA Lakers as a free agent to become a champion. And about KD leaving OKC. Not one discussion mentions Russell Westbrook's ball hogging during OKC series defeats. Loyalty only makes a great player a nice guy, but not a champion. Deep down, I wish KD stayed with OKC, but despite the roster being stacked, the OKC Thunder were definitely not world beaters. I know fans love Steven Adams, but I've seen plenty of games where he was eaten alive down in the paint during the KD years with the Thunder. Legacy wise, KD prior to joining the Warriors was in serious danger of not ever winning a ring. I can only imagine what fans would say to KD right now if he were still lacking a championship ring. He's got two of those bad boys now in his possession, the burden is now off his shoulders. How is Russell Westbrook doing? The guy seems to have a meltdown every time he's in the playoffs. I guess still not having a ring brings all of that frustration to the surface. I don't care how great a player is, no great player wants to have the same legacies that Karl Malone, John Stockton, Charles Barkley, and Patrick Ewing have hear about all the time: "All time great players that never won a ring."
Shaq's situation with Orlando and LA is completely different. The Magic low-balled him with their offer while the Lakers had no problem giving Shaq the money he deserved (not such similarity with OKC); but more significantly, Shaq went to LA to build something great, KD just joined it.
Also to say KD can't win with Russ isn't true, they made 4 conference finals appearances in a 6 year span in a very tough Western conference. Two times they missed an appearance was due to either Russ or KD being injured (2013 and 2015 respectively).
And that OKC team was actually set to come back a lot better in 2017, with newly acquired Oladipo coming off the bench, and Al Horford ready to sign as a free agent (although this was on the condition that KD resigned). I sincerely believe he would've won a ring in OKC by now, and he would be a unanimously loved and respected player for it. His two rings from Golden State don't mean jack, and when probably 30-60% of NBA fans also agree that they don't mean anything- then they end up not meaning anything.

Why? because deep down the Magic still loved Shaq. And if the Magic low balled Shaq, they let their true colors show, they weren't willing to pay Shaq what he deserved. Thunder fans won't admit it, but deep down, they definitely miss Kevin Durant. I know it still hurts. The players have the freedom and power to make their own decisions. That's the beauty of today's NBA. The owners and NBAPA all agreed to modern free agency. We all shouldn't be surprised of the results even if we dislike them.
