This Benelli SuperNova Pump-Action Shotgun is reminiscent of the fun you get with running a manual transmission versus an automatic you're just more involved.
You are more connected with the actual gun.
As I'm out here plinking around, that's why it comes across as a little bit more fun.

I've trained with that shotgun. The trigger guard is shaped that way for a reason. Put the gun on its back, push the lifter down (it will stay down), place two shell in the loading port and shove both in. The shape of the trigger guard allows space to do that. With a 4-round tube, you can go from an empty gun to fully loaded in seconds.
this is the type of skill i aspire to have
They got a supernova tactical model that comes with collapsible stock and 7rd tube it cost $650
@@pouyanesfandiary8929 That's a damn good price.
You forgot what really makes it stand out against the 590/500 and 870. The button on the pump lets you eject what’s in the chamber without loading the next round. Perfect for unloading to cross an obstacle or to change a load as needed. Great feature
The "Shell Stop" button as Benelli call it... seems like it could come in handy.
I love that he loves what he is doing. Firing a gun makes him happy.
Firing a gun makes me happy.
Colion could be my spirit guide or spirit animal.
I agree the way he is laughing and giggling after each shot puts a smile on my face
It's hard to believe that he's a lawyer.🤣
Spirit guide for sure 🫡

Glad to see someone shares my enthusiasm for the Nova! I'm 52 and when I say I've shot pumps as much as any other person my age, you can believe it. But the longer I have my benelli novas the more I appreciate and like them.
And btw you did about as good a job of showing how fun it is to run a good pump as cold have been done man. Excellent work
I've had a NOVA for years and it's a beast, eats 3.5" shells and is the most fun gun I have. (8+1 has a +4 Nordic extension)
how would u attach a light? I have one too and want to make some upgrades to it
@@20mfranklin Steiner used to make a light that attaches to the forend. They are still available with some searching.
@@gregrobertson5576 okay for sure, do u have a side saddle you use?
@@20mfranklin Mesa tactical makes a very solid product.I was using a neoprene one but it stretched out over time. The Mesa one has a rail section on top,if that's your thing.I prefer the ghost rings.I paid about 80 for mine.I don't know what they run post Covid price.
@@gregrobertson5576 oh my gosh I could buy you a drink. thankyou
I got one a few years ago I love it. The sights are just dead on. Love my benelli.
Have the Nova pump and absolutely love that gun and by far the funnest beast to shoot, shooting a 3 and a half is special
Lol, special because of the need for special dental work after the shot?
I have not shot a lot of 3.5 inch 12 guage . and none out of this gun. But man they are just savage in the recoil department.
Got mine in the no longer made color dessert camo. Added side saddles an extension sling and a light. I own and have owned damn near every shotgun brand and my supernova tactical is my favorite.
Dessert camo? Sounds delicious!
Cool. I just spray painted mine to desert to be honest
Nice. I got the side saddle, vickers sling, extended tube, red dot and a surefire light mounted.
@@trentimus5700 very nice.
If I'm going to have dessert, it's gotta be camo. 😅
😂🤣 a Benelli Nova has been faithfully by my side since I was 18. Just realized how long that's been (20 years now)-- the Super Novas are a great upgrade to the original design!
Bought this pump gun last month as my first firearm! Literally the same model. Glad to see it getting some love
Love my Benelli' shotguns, the M4 (highly customized) /14" SuperNova /18.5" SuperNova. All have the adjustable stocks. Incredible quality and they reflect their purchase prices.
A +1 extension is a great addition to the 14"!
How much for the 18.5?
@Mike Unsworth do you know where I can get one of those adjustable stocks? If I can't find one, I'll get the urbino stock from mesa tactical. But I've owned a super nova for about year, and the original pistol grip stock is too long. Any ideas?
@@BIGkearney get one of their after market gel butt pads. The original was too hard and too long a length of pull for me and I got the shortest one. It now fits me perfectly and helped reduce the frlt recoil.
Be advised they are pricey but worth it.
Also I removed the tactical pistol stock and bought a comfort tech stock....now much better and more comfortable. I hated the fact that the tactical stock had to be loosened needing an extension socket just so you could remove the trigger assembly group so you can field strip the damn shotgun. Not an issue now.
This was my buddies first shotgun that I got to put a lot of rounds threw. It's a great gun that is made for the elements. It's a little long but that can be changed. The feel is more of plastic then metal. It shoots great and is smooth to operate. Overall it's a great outdoor shotgun.
Yeah, but I need a good indoor shotgun.
@@Rcqtballr1 perhaps a Mossberg Shockwave for indoor defense?
through not threw
@@Rcqtballr1 this is a good indoor shotgun too. I wouldn’t want a pistol grip without a stock for HD
I've been looking at good shotguns to get when I turn 18 next year and well considering I live in California, and I have limited options of choices and since I'm not gonna be 21 well ima have even less choices. So far my choices are Mossberg 500, Remington 870 and now the Super Nova.
Had mine for a few years. Added an extended magazine tube, and that's it. Love this shotgun; fun to shoot and has been absolutely reliable. It's what's next to the bed for things that go bump in the night.
My cousin had a Benelli shotgun and after he passed, his dad (my uncle), gave it to me. Needless to say, it’s going to stay with me for a while and hopefully be a family heirloom.
My Grandfather (RIP) gave me a NOVA in 20 gauge for my 14th birthday. I've taken hundreds of geese and duck with it. It now belongs to my wife and it's her home defense long gun. It is a fantastic shotgun.
My go to, had mine since 2008. Nothing but love, especially that I can easily do a chamber round change.
Yeah so the Benelli Nova has been the greatest bird gun me or family members have ever used. My brother has dropped in the water then picked it up and fired without issue, he never cleans the thing and it just runs, hell he's used it as a boat paddle before. Just made a trip to ND to goose and duck hunt, left his $1200 semi at home cause it has frozen shut before, he took the benelli and had zero issues. I really gotta get me one one of these days
BTW trigger guard is so weird cause it has plenty of space for a heavily gloved finger to fit inside there.
I just got one for turkey and trap
I ordered my first shotgun online last night by the benelli name, price, tactical. Came here to check video reviews. Loved the excitement over this shotgun. New subscriber nw Louisiana.
Loved mine straight out of the box. Added the messa tactical rail with side saddle, 2 round extension, extension nut, barrel clamp, Teflon follower and spring. Runs even smoother with the Teflon
I’m ordering mine today! May I ask, where did you find your extension mag and other upgrade parts? I’m on Benelli’ website and don’t see much for the SuperNova tactical Pump. thanks in advance!
@@Jthach007 NORDIC COMPONENTS
Dude you literally took the words out of my head. When you kept saying it was hard to tell which you enjoyed more. I was going to say it's exactly like an auto vs manual. Are auto's faster now? Yeah, but driving a manual just connects you with the car exactly the way you were talking about the m4 and supernova! Perfect comparison bro!!
Love my SuperNova, I put a +2 tube extension on mine and it accepts 3.5" shells. I used it sauirrel hunting before and it did better than expected with an 18.5" barrel. It was my first Benelli but since decided to get an M2 which I enjoy also.
Got my Supernova about 20 years ago. Love it's action, ruggedness and look!! 🇺🇸
This shotgun was an Xmas gift to me several years back. Colion, Benelli does make several different super soft after market gel butt pads.
I shortened mine with a 1/2" thick one which shortened the length of pull and reduced the felt recoil.
I also got the after market Benelli comfort tech stock and two round extension magazine.
"Lets go Brandon"
Can you get this in20 gauge?
@@jasoncastle4818 Benelli does make 20-ga Super Nova shotguns. Like all Super Novas you can use 2¾" to 3½" shells.
Remember that 20ga shotguns don't have the variety of shell types a 12ga has. Plus, 20ga shells may be harder to find. Specifically those non lethal type shells. Other than that a 20ga has all the standard shell types available, buck shot, bird shot & slugs.
Let's Go Brandon? How do you conservatives still not have anything more clever after all this time?
@@87channels Nothing else is needed. The point has been made.
@@87channels Shouldn't you be somewhere complaining on Twitter about how all of your problems are everybody else's fault?
I like the analogy of pump compared to a manual transmission. Never thought of it like that but it makes perfect sense. I think I’m gonna borrow that.
I’ve had my super nova for 7 years. Absolutely love it!
I have one. Had it for 12 years. I love it!
I got a mossberg 335 and love the fact it'll take everything from 2 3/4 all the way up to 3 1/2 inch shells and the benelli m3 you can pump for low recoil shells and semi auto as well
I came here to see a review on this specific gun, needless to say your enthusiasm easily convinced me what I was thinking of doing is the 100% right choice.
The one time Counter Strike is realistic, the Supernova being cheap asf

I love to see someone REALLY enjoying their 2A , and getting excited with their new firearm.
This is my first pump shotgun. I love it.
My first two firearm purchases are actually the same as you too. SR9 and SR40.
Glad to see you have good taste :)
RUGER!!!!! I’m a Ruger girl. Nice to see another fan!!!
@@tdeeb6359 I just now got a notification about your comment. Sorry for the late response.
Riger is fn amazing. I am a big fan boy. They rule!
Rob, Excellent❗️I must say you have good taste yourself. Thank you. My first pump was as a rookie cop…. As a small woman, but not a weak one, the dept was using old ( in 1982) Remingtons. The stocks were so long I went from a 98-100% shooter to a barely 60%!! so I bought a pump Mossburg and cut almost 3 inches off the stock, and put a really good rubber butt on it. God I loved that weapon! Back to my normal scores I went Then all the women and a few of the smaller men borrowed it and improved their scores too! I’m sorry to say if the ladies weren’t taught to use a shotgun before they got there, the women didn’t get much attention because they were office workers and not road deputies . Made it my goal from then on to help them…and I did. I was lucky enough over the years to help them with the huge wheel guns they were given, to introducing them to semi automatics too. I felt awesome that they trusted me and was honored to help them. My thanks to the sheriff, who had faith in me too. Who knew he would be fond of a young, not so outgoing (then), but a Dam Yankee for sure, single mom? That man gave me the opportunity to have a great career with lots of excitement!!!! May you rest in peace, sheriff.
“Peanut” (the nickname he gave me)
@@tdeeb6359 Oh damn that's interesting. Well thank you for your service.
@@Robdoggierob Thank you. My pleasure. 🥴
Thanks for this video. I got two semi-auto shotguns. I just got my first Benelli Supernova and my first pump shotgun.
I believe I made the right choice. I took out the plug. I added a 3 shot extension mag. now I get 8+1(2 3/4") 6+1( 3")
4+1(3 1/2") shells. I'm thinking of getting a 4 shot ext. mag......This Benelli Supernova is chambered for 3 1/2" shells.
Great video thanks Robert.....
I’ve had a Nova for years, it’s my go to shotgun.
Cool video and love your range! That all other shotguns could be this nice at this price point! I've got two of them for that reason. The Tactical with the 14" and collapsible stock is my go-to fun device!
Got a Benelli Nova 12ga several years ago for Christmas and it's by far my favorite shotgun I've shot. Tbh, i like it better than my buddy's Browning A5. The minimal recoil is the best part. I just wish mine was semi-auto instead of pump, for skeet shooting, but i love it still
For how little I get to shotguns, the Nova tactical has been an excellent fun choice for me. I can’t justify the cost of an M4 with how little it would get used. I mean I’m going to use something else for home defense anyway.
Idk if I could justify a shotgun inside the house. That's a big ass mess with criminal guts everywhere

The careless whisper bit had me rolling 😂😂😂
That extended pump grip is a great feature, if they add an adjustable stock that could be a great option for smaller people due to arm length.
We definitely need more of these videos!!!!
Thank you!
That slow move action racking with the hearts and the music had me and my wife cracking up. Editor killed that
Your Careless Whisper montage had me in tears!!! 🤣🤣🤣. It was enjoyable watching you have so much fun… you were giddy!
You had me at let's go Brandon. Have the Benelli M4. It's good. Pretty low on my most used or treasured. But absolutely reliable.
My first gun ever in the late 90's. Benelli Nova. Still keep the tube topped off and ready for a quick pump.
Love your videos man. All topics. Great content. Keep it up brother, the 2A community needs it. Amongst others lol
Sharing the love for SuperNova. Picked mine up this summer! 👊🏻
I've been shooting 3gun with a Comfortech stocked Supernova for years and it is the most fun shotgun I have ever picked up. Just watching this makes me want to take mine out to the range and knock some steel over.
Great video and content as always and keep up the great work .Also, thank you for your channel.
I have the Benelli Nova Pump Shotgun and I love it. So smooth.
I have one....never put one round thru it! Love this video, makes me feel good about my purchase!
Thanks for your videos. A firearms channel I can trust. And I understand falling in love with a gun when everything about it is right and you feel you can always count on it. Let’s go Brandon!
I love your videos! You make them interesting, and you seem to have so much fun. Keep it up bro!
Love the comparison to manual transmission vs auto! Feel the same way.
A Nordic magazine extension would do wonders. I owned a Benelli Nova some years ago. Good shotgun. Colion a tip for increasing your rate of fire. Practice cycling the action as soon as you squeeze the trigger. As you let off the trigger you should be cycling the action. I use practice rounds for this. With practice you can really increase your rate of fire. Nearly as fast as a semi auto. I’ve a Mossberg 590 SP 20” barrel 8+1 capacity and it will go through 9 rounds pretty quickly using this method. With use the action in this Mossberg has become buttery smooth.
I just ordered this today. Cannot wait to get it this weekend.
Love that distinctive fixed stock design remains the same with M1 and m2 and so on
The first shotgun I ever owned was the Mossberg 500 then sold it for the Benelli M4 & I still have it to this day. However as soon as the Rock Island Armory VR60 I bought it just recently traded it in for the upgraded version VR80 & I really like it as my primary shotgun.
Love mine, had it about a year. Sometimes, ya just NEED a 12 gauge. For a low end scattergun it shoot well.
I got a Nova a few months ago. It was what was available at the time. I'm happy with it.
Oh and just got my hat from you guys, fits perfectly and I love it, keep being great!
save the $300 and just get a maverick 88. Literally just a less featured 590 for $200 you cannot go wrong. Love mine for anything, clays, hunting, fun at the range. Shorter barrel for home defense and uses the same mossberg parts if u wanna upgrade.
yay tactical reloads, I qualified with a Remington pump, but I've been a fan of Mossberg for a while since it was my first shotgun, great video.
I was kind of expecting a Maverick 88 from the mobile notification I got.
2:20 Dude....THE BIGGEST LAUGH LOL I'VE HAD ON Y.T. IN YEARS!!! I have this same gun, but you killed it with that.
Awesome man, love the review! Got a supernova myself, loveit love it love it . Also; what an amazing range you got!! Greetz from sweden
I love your video's when you really love the weapon you are shooting. Thanks
just got mine yesterday, great timing for a review
Had mine since 2009. Smooth as butter to this day. Haven't ever had a single issue with this Italian beast.
I had wanted a pump action shotgun since my early 90s Benelli M1 Super90 Defender can balk on lighter loads. I'm loving my SuperNova now, and I can use cheap(er) field loads with it!
I went down a long run of almost buying this exact shotgun, to wanting a 20g field nova, to buying a sweet walnut Browning 20g BPS. And I'm still jealous of that Nova action.
Mine was affordable but wasn't Rem 870 or Moss 500 affordable nor as reliable as either.Had to send it to Benelli to fix,I'm assuming the extractor.Works great now.Hate that there isn't alot of aftermarket/customization for it.I love the ghost rings on mine, the magazine disconnect feature, and the action and smooth cycling. Absolutely love the fact it shoots 3 1/2 inch shells.
Just got one of these for Christmas. Really excited to get to shooting. It’s my first firearm!
Gotta Love the shotguns ... reliability 💯
I've been waiting for this video for a while now. And I'm excited for it.
Great demonstration awesome review. Right to the point.
Buddy is having fun.... love to see it great video
Great video! Always appreciated, Colion!
I don't know I think I'll stay with my M4. I have an old Remington 870 I truly cannot imagine anything being smoother than that shotgun once again a Great Entertaining and informative video.
Good to see you with a shotgun. My only 12 gauge is the Winchester 1200 pump shotgun. Cycling the action seems to come naturally between shots.
10 rd ext. tube is awesome. It takes 3 1/2 shells so there's more versatility.
My 1st firearm purchase. The SuperNova tactical version
My first shotgun 15 years ago. Love it
Only a snapshot in time...one year...I worked the gun counter at Cabela's and out of all the pump-action shotguns we sold, this one came back the most. Either for a trade-in or for maintenance. Granted, we also sold a full Benelli line and all associated shotguns...Beretta, Franchi, and Stoeger (ew). Browning as well but I never seen one of those come back.
Anyway, Novas and SuperNovas were always on discount and always had some kind of issue. The ones that run well, run REAL well, but the rest...meh.
My pump of choice...870 Police Magnum. Weighs a ton and works as a bat, window breaker, 1/2 ton jack, drywall removal tool, teenage daughter suiter deterrent and can be used to test those rattle can projects BEFORE you goober up your AR.
This was my first shotgun. The thing can be completely customized. Love it
I have the waterfowl version and shot skeet a lot and would regularly out run semi autos and over unders. Love it
Got one on the way, can’t wait!
Got mine a couple of months ago for $599. Identical to this one...pistol grip with ghost ring sight. Outstanding shotgun.
I love the review! Entertaining and informative. The funky trigger guard is from the SBE2 I believe.
My first gun. I love it. I have the same exact model you’re holding. Supernova Tactical
Bro!!! 😂😂 swear I been looking at these for weeks!!
You cant get them new anymore but if you want a really smooth operating shotgun the old Winchester 1300 is amazing, they even have a recoil assisted pump. (including the new winchester sxp)
Winchester 1300 Defender is an excellent pump shotgun. ☯️🎩♠️🏁
@@silverback7659 yeah those old shotguns are super smooth, ive got a highstandard 4011 that the pimp slides all the way down if you hokd it vertically and hit the bolt release

Love the shirt and the video!
Ive had a super nova since they first came out. Its my go to "beater" waterfowl gun with the 28in barrel when im not using my SBE2. I use it where we are hunting in sandy areas on the columbia river (washington state)....smooth...not really. My old remington 870 wingmaster is way smoother. I feel that the nova has a super gritty stroke with thousands of high base rounds through it but it eats everything and i love it.
Just picked up my first Benelli shotgun a few weeks ago. 1986 m1 super 90 hk import and I must say… its made to run…
It makes me miss the good old days playing CS:GO with the bois.
Thanks Colion! I just bought a supernova today. I’m really looking forward to checking it out myself.
I've had my banelli for quite a few years I love how you can even change the shells on the fly by using the little button on the pump to chamber either buckshot or slugs if needed
Mossberg 500 is a really great option
I'd rather have the 500 for the tang safety.
He's talking about Benelli shotgun you're right Mossberg 500 tactical money I'm going to save from not buying a Benelli I'll spend it on ammunition besides it does the same damn thing
This is my toss up. I really want a Mossy 500 because it's so common with great aftermarket options. I am not sure if I can be swayed away from a good ol 500.
@@chavezhead I've got a 590a1, absolutely zero regrets. Wanted one for years before I bought it tho so I'm admittedly biased
Got a beefed up 500 with a standoff barrel and a 12” LOP hogue stock. Only 36” long nice and short. Super maneuverable.
I got one of these on a whim and love it. So much that I bought a tactical version. My only gripe is that I wish they came with a simple bead on the barrel...
PS Mesa Tactical makes a 12.5" pistol grip stock for the Super Nova. The Urbino. One with a cheek riser and one without.
I have a regular Super Nova and fell in love with that thing instantly. Same firearm but seems different from this one, but let me preach a bit more on some great points on either fashion of SuperNova. Ever play Duke Nukem and he just "dumps trash" to reload? You know, just toss shells in and they just happen to land and charge? I can't do that with a Remington pump. I see you doing this in the video too, don't care, just toss shells in and it fires (maybe one misfire? I dump shells in there and get 25/25 in trap).
The one I bought have inertia inserts in the stock, no ghost-sights (despise them personally) but regular goosegun fiber sights, and you can change the angle of the stock with inserts. I mean, all that made it my favorite shotty on top of what you already feel you found in this video and was rooting on you to tell the following...The Super Nova is a $500 shotgun while the M4 is $1,700.
That button on the charging handle seems like a big deal to someone like you to play with more, but not myself. I'm done with battle but that button to just hold a reload during a rack to toss a slug in seems useful for those targets that don't want to fall with target loads.
And finally, guns need love to. Stroke that thing until it says stop, oil it some more, stroke it until it's a mess with zero regrets...it'll take it. I didn't laugh at all at that moment, I just nodded. "yup, that's just what we do"
