It was, is. They sang so well nobody could top them, but at the same time they made it seem like they were just having a casual conversation with you. I like the fact that you very seldom had a problem making out what they were saying.
I didn't know what to expect when I decided to look at this. I saw the Temptations and the Dells at the Regal in March of 67 on a Friday and the next Friday I was on the critical list. I would go see the Temptations whenever they were in Chicago. I got off a bus and ran to the record shop for Beauty's Only Skin Deep in 66 the Temptations were and are still GREAT.
The Temptations - the complete package... Vocals, Style, Swag, Choreography and Music. There is nor will there every will be a group the comes close to The Emperors of Soul. THE TEMPTATIONS...MUCH LOVE ALWAYS
Can't say enough about the original 5 with Ruffin and Kendricks. Their abilities, skill set, and detail were without equal. Like a dynasty type championship team, being combined made them exceptional. All 5 could front a band. All 5 could dance and perform. Kudos must be given to Ruffin who was on a par or even better than any of his peers. This would include Cooke, Redding, and anyone from across the pond. Dylan and Lennon could pen a thought, no doubt. But Ruffin, like animation, could bring it to life.
Sammy Davis Jr. was called Mr. Entertainment, but I think that title should be shared with David Ruffin. The man is simply fantastic. He defines cool and soul, let alone his magnificent vocsls. What a loss to all when he passed. RIP
Nobody else put it down like this, when David felt pressed, he'd hit that split. Paul choreographed their dances, wish he'd sang lead on more, he had such a rich voice. I luv em all tho.
They were both great and I also saw the both of them in concert at the Auditorium in Chicago. Eddie Kendricks was one of the few artists who survived the disco era. 💯

True, I'm a temptations fan all day, but look up the unifics, them boys were bad ass steppers, a lady turned me on to them, she said they opened for the temps back in the 60s and they actually out stepped the temptations, I think she might be right
The thing about the Tempts is (like the Supremes) they could sing anything; whatever they were given to sing, they sang - and not half-ass, but with all of themselves in it. Saw this lineup many years ago as a child and they were an enormous presence on stage. Full of personality (also like the Supremes). We'll never see the likes of them again.
