THE "FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE" LIVE PERFORMANCE
In my opinion Paul generally sang songs humbly and with great joy and careful excellence, extending to the hearer a pure and genuine love and happiness... He truly loved singing and performing, and he was free in that element, he didn't feel the need to force it. However I believe that beautiful humility was no match for this song on this night. Paul as always is still beautifully humble here, but the song and performance is not. In this performance the song is bold and piercing. It seems as if everything within him is onstage on this night, and the listener cannot help but to feel it... Paul's Passion for Love truly shined through here, and even if only for a few moments, we're truly blessed to be able to catch a glimpse of such a magnificent Love...

We DO NOT need a Special Day
To bring you to our minds.
The days we DO NOT think of you
Are very hard to find.
Each morning when we awake
We know that you are gone.
And no one knows the heartache
As we try to carry on.

I saw the Temptations perform @ 1962, at the Uptown Theater, in Philly. 20 years later, I sold the house Paul Williams was renting. We got to hang, and he was one terrific guy. He was about to buy his first home, ever. He gave me an autographed poster. Pretty sure I gave it to one of my sons....but it may be in a closet I seldom open. He was a genuinely nice guy.

I wasn't born until 1965, but Motown has always played an important role in my musical life. Paul Williams was also my favorite Tempt. He was such a joy to watch!!

Paul was a good singer,why did so many give this a thumb down I don't know he did his part even sick. Sad he passed in 1973. Have some respect, give Paul his due he did great job here. I too am a lifelong Bi Polar sufferer ( fighter, survivor) still up to now and l'm 75. I love Paul . I feel his pain. May he have found peace in his passing. A true Genius. The very soul of the Temptations Paul "The Voice" Williams. He will never be forgotten. He always sang from his heart to our hearts and I am thankful I could enjoy him. R.I.P Paul Williams.
Both Paul and the Temptations never let anything stop them and as a result, they left us one of the greatest legacies in pop music and performance.
Paul had such a marvelous baritone voice... He is sadly missed. For once in my life is the song that was really his signature song. Riip Paul never to be forgotten😞🌟❤
Paul's voice was magic. Only one Temp left. I saw them in '65 in Detroit. Visited David Ruffins grave. They are missed... motown treasures...always!😥
Saw the Temptations original classic line up in Georgia, Fall 1969 with David, Eddie, Otis, Melvin, Paul Williams my favorite, he was like a magnet on stage and unforgettable, they were in concert as the headliner, along with other Motown acts (Mary Wells, Marvaletts, Drifters, Four Tops…) they all gave exceptional performances. Years later 1984 met Eddie Kendricks as a solo artist in a new area nightclub promoting his music, he was sitting alone when I ask for his autograph ✍🏽 on a napkin addressed to me, very friendly too and I still have it 38 years later. R.I.P. Kings.👑
You will never, ever hear another soulful voice like Paul's again.....
I am only 27 years old, but my father, who is 74, introduced the Temptations to me and my brothers. He always told us about how great of a group they were, but it wasn't until I started researching their performances and music that I gained a HUGE bit of respect for these men! They set the standard for all R&B male groups for all eternity. Paul's death must've been super tragic. May he, David, Eddie and Blue rest in peace.

Paul's eyes said so much. He was in pain physical and emotional. Sickle Cell is a painful disease. Portraying him as a drunk was just wrong. I respect his talent and listen to him still 2020

Paul for some reason was my favorite temptations, he just look like a caring person and his dancing stood out to me, remember I'm 8,9,10 years old I'm 61 now. My mom died in 1970 her favorite temptation was Eddie Kendricks, there's a connection here Paul & Eddie was the best of friends coming up together !

David Ruffin had a great voice and unquestionable showmanship. Paul out sang him with pure bluesy emotion. There would have not the quality of the Temptations without the influence of Paul. He just didn't sing a song, he lived in it.

This was a great tribute to Mr Paul Williams. He is my favorite Temptation and favorite singer period. He had the total package. The voice of every emotion, the moves that were smoother than silk, the personality that make you fall in love, and he was handsome as all get out. His smile was a heavenly light, but on the opposite end, his eyes could also show you his pain. He was a sensitive, beautiful soul that deserved more. He had more to give. Gone too soon, but is now resting in peace. I hope you know how much you were loved and adored, King. We will continue to spread your legacy for generations to come, sweetheart 💜

Leandro Santos Don't Look Back (one of my favorites and Oh Mother of Mine; I also love Paul's rendition of "For Once in My Life." He sings with such heartfelt emotion in this song. Each time I listen to it, I get the sense that he was really crying out for help, love from someone...

I was a teen in the sixties.....and so loved that wonderful Motown sound! The original Temptations of that time were my favourite group! I miss them all so! Each one of them had their own unique and special God given talent! Now at 70 yrs. I Thank you guys for the great music you left that I still love and enjoy today! RIP and sing on in Heaven!

Paul was always my favorite Temptation. He was always accesible and charming when you met him. He was real and the type of man who didnt hide from his celebrity. You would see him dring his caddy all over Detroit from Ecorse to the West side side of Detroit to East Grand Blvd and Mack picking up a shrimp dinner from Dot and Etta's. Happy Birthday Paul which would have been # 79. August 17th 1973 God called you home to rest. Kids who were not born or even thought of. When Temptation movie was aired Paul Williams seemed to be the favorite. I know my daughter is crazy about Paul. When records store were still around. One day I went to one and this lady came in frantic and asked the young gentlemen which album is I want a love I can see on. He did not know I said to her here it is Meet the Temptattions album she was so grateful. Her daughter was only ten and loved that song. She told me that if she went home without it her daughter would have had a fit. She said you would not believe how her daughter loved his voice.
Just looked at how Paul was love by watching someone portraying him in a movie. The young man who played him did a fantastic job.
That's a lot of love. Rest In Peace Paul you are so loved.
I remember the For Once In My Life performance like it was yesterday. I have a relative who was a musician with Motown back then, and he told me that Paul was in a lot of pain at that time. He really left it all on the stage with that performance! RIP.
