the Arsenal invincible is the most overrated team in history(AC Milan, Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen this season could very well end up Invincible) So Invincible seasons aren`t special nor are their all that rare.
if you wanna argue that the PL is the best league in the world, fair that is true in the modern day, but it wasn`t when Arsenal where Invincible.
the iconic argument is weird, because it`s purely based on nostalgia, obviously United`s 99 team, or the Invinicble team will benefit from having players who are now considered icons of the league in their teams.
But like i don`t want it to happen, but if the current Arsenal team wins the CL, then that is more significant then the Invincible team as it`s a feat the Invincible team never managed and they would be doing it in the current day, but like Rice or Saliba or something wouldn`t be considered icons of football if they won one CL with Arsenal.

1. How many teams have been unbeaten vs. how many teams have done the treble? In the top 5 leagues, more teams have done the treble, so technically, being invincible is more special based on stats, not feelings, even if Leverkusen join them this season.
2. An argument can be made that the Premier league from 2002-2009 was the best league in the world alongside Serie A. While Serie A had Milan and Inter, the Prem had United, Chelsea, Arsenal all fighting it out and making deep runs in the Champions league. So, the Invincibles shouldn't be discredited there.
3. Arsenal winning the Champions League this year would be as significant as the Invincibles (coming from an Arsenal fan) since it's the first, but this team won't be considered better than the Invincibles. Why? That's easy. Do you consider Chelsea's 2021 Champions league winning team better than the Invincibles or Man City's Centurions? Or do you consider Real Madrid 22 CL winning side better than Jose's 100-point Madrid team. Team success is one thing, but football isn't just stats. We watch it ourselves and see the stuff that stats don't show. Ask a Madrid fan, which side they would say was better Jose's vs 22 they would laugh and say Jose's no hesitation because they were just better. The personnel was better, they played better football etc. Same with the Invincibles
If I had to make a combined squad of Arsenal today(assuming the win the CL) vs the Invincibles, the Invincible would dominate no questions asked.
So, back to your original point of which Prem team is the best, it's more than just the points total and trophy haul. Thr treble City winning side didn't play in a strong European Cup. Madrid was the only decent side they beat. PL wasn't as good with Liverpool crumbling, hell, they even lost to Brentford TWICE. All I'm saying is that it's not clear cut, and the Invincibles deserve to be up there in the discussion as the best team the Prem ever saw.
The greatest PL team of all time is the City team of 18/19. (The season after they did the centurions)
That team won all 3 domestic Cups and won the league with 98 points.
They lost in the CL vs Spurs due to VAR ruling out a sterling last minute goal in the CL.
That team had 2 XI's that could genuinely win the league, ive never seen anything like it.

I hated losing to that team by 1 point, but getting 97 points, there's so much you can do.
Yes, this is the best City team and arguably the best team in PL history. They had too much depth and too many ways of hurting the opposition. Control, x factor, elite quality and depth, and everybody at their arguable best, all in this team.
Also, its kinda funny that nobody mentions 07/08 United, who are also very high on the best PL teams list.
I think the teams shouldn't just be judged on trophies, because it doesn't always reflect on quality, and its a boring conversation anyway.
18/19 City team is way more scary than the treble winning City team, despite not winning the Champions League.

@@lionelsheja6381 good list. 18/19 Pool is heavily underrated. That whole year they had 103 points off a possible 105. I think that is one of the most incredible achievements ever. Salah, Mane, VVD, Alisson, Robertson, Trent all at their peak. Henderson having his best season, Wijnaldum very promising and Fabinho arguably the best DM in the world at that time. They were outstandingly consistent and literally unbeatable.
@@AravindNair-gq7fj I think you're talking about 19/20. Which is really underrated, and they were phenomenal. And I agree that trophies shouldn't be the only measure to judge these teams. Like City winning the treble, the level of European football had fell a level. In 18/19, the level at which Liverpool and other clubs were playing was phenomenal. Them missing out narrowly vs Spurs shouldn't exclude them from this list.
Poor Real Madrid? Poor Bayern team? City beat the champions league holding Madrid. A Bayern team that won the treble a few seasons ago. They also didn’t just beat them they absolutely demolished them. The 4-0 against Real is one of the best performances in European history.

The way how they are downplaying and trivializing City's treble, you would never think it was only done once in 25 years since Man Utd's. And Turkish's idea that Utd's one is better because they had more trouble facing teams is silly because you are basically holding city's superiority against them. When you are up against a team with players like Zidane, Edgar Davids, Conte, Deschamps, Inzaghi,etc... and managed by Carlo Ancelotti in a CL semi final in a total knife-edge of a tie that could have gone either way, you best believe it was epic stuff.

City's centurion team would have been a stronger shout than the treble team, to be honest. In terms of assigning a unique achievement to each team, 100 points should have been City's one.
City's team that won the 3 domestic cups and won the league with 98 points in 18/19 season was better than the Centurions. I'm a City fan but don't forget City were battered by a pre Alison and VVD Liverpool in the CL quarter finals in the centurion year, and lost in the 4th round Vs Wigan in FA Cup.

However, the Invincibles achieved something that hasn’t been done till this day and for this reason, they are the ones that get mentioned.
I hear the argument about the City team that won 3 domestic cups, but we know the wider public (besides City fans) would only acknowledge the treble-winning team and centurions due to the weight of their achievement. My argument here is there’s only one 100-point team, and that would have made the conversation more interesting.

The centurions Got battered 3-0 in a CL quarter finals against Karius Liverpool is not good they even lost in the return leg at Etihad and were dominated in both games. I genuinely can't remember a single big game in 18/19 season where City didnt dominate. Also, don't forget City's back four was walker Otamendi Stones Delph for the centurions. Kompany was injured the whole season. In a hypothetical alternative world The 18/19 team would beat that City team imo.

I think the biggest black mark against Manchester City's treble is that there wasn't a WOW factor, more like a cold inevitability about it with an underlying feeling of what took you so long? Vincent Kompany was talking about achieving a treble 10 years. Trebles aren't supposed to be expected. That was hurts/kills City's treble the most for fans everywhere, chuck around money at it, hire the best manager in the world and eventually it will happen.

This is a real fact. I admit that I have not been watching football since 1990 or 2000. But in the past 15 years which EPL team has been this consistent in the Champions League before the Klopp-Pep era. Just to give you facts Real Madrid has won 14 times and all EPL teams combined have won 15 times in the Champions League.

They went out to Liverpool after Salah scored from an offside, Jesus scored and it was given offside when it wasn't, clear penalty on Sterling by Robertson, clear handball in the box from Milner, and Sane given offside for a goal he scored when he wasn't offside at all. They were better in 17-19
Covid is the only thing that stopped 19/20 Liverpool from getting about 105 points and becoming the undisputed best ever Prem team. Record of 27-1-1 prior to a 3 month long break that killed momentum; 5-2-2 record after.

Liverpool 19-20 isn’t even Liverpool’s best team. The 18-19 team was better. The only team to accumulate 90+ points and win the UCL in the same season.

Liverpool were also what, two games away from winning the quadruple two seasons ago? Got 99 points to win the league one season, and also lost one game the entire season and got 97 points I believe? They were close to topping THREE of these iconic teams. Almost got more points than the Centurions, almost topped the Treble winning sides, and almost went invincible with more points than the Arsenal side. The only thing separating them is the word "almost". Just like how they lost the league twice by one point, these achievements were only JUST out of reach. But I wouldn't say there was a clear gap between then and ANY of these listed teams and they could definitely beat any of them in a one off game. If it weren't for City beating them to the league twice by one point, that Liverpool team would be considered one of the greatest in Premier League history. It's finishing just short on multiple occasions that puts them down the list unfortunately.

As an Arsenal fan Liverpool winning the league was massive because it been so long. For a massive legendary club to win after 30 years is huge. The pressure was huge.

As an Arsenal fan I definitely agree the Invincibles should have done more. The 2003 title we let slip and the 2004 CL was wide open to be won.
PL ACHIEVEMENT don’t let the detractors fool you, If the question was about overall then yes but it’s PL team nobody else has gone 49 games unbeaten FACT. If it was so easy why hasn’t anyone else done it.
You guys got confused between ranking the quality of the teams, and ranking the esteem in which you hold the landmark achievement of each team. Those aren't the same thing.
I have been watching football for more than 15-20 years. Obviously, as Flex told at the end trophies count but in the year 2021-22 for any English club in the year they can play a possible 63 games. Liverpool played all 63 games winning the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, reaching the Champions League final with 14 times Champions League winner playing their best game till now in finals losing 1-0 and just losing by 1 point to the Premier League champions Manchester City (Stronger both financially and squad value). This is as close as the English team had ever reached so as a Liverpool fan that was my golden time but the result of those games, the 2022-23 season an injury-hit, fatigued, aging midfield and did not even qualify for Champions League 23/24 since 2015-16.

The only game Chelsea lost in the 04/05 season was a 1-0 defeat against City. And that was a penalty.
Winning a treble when you are expected to actually arguably is more difficult because of all the pressure and expectations. And to do it while winning the toughest league where every point counts. Don’t discount pressure and expectations effect, look at what it did to Arsenal last season.
Well I'll say winning a treble while being dog shit from the start of the season (98) till December that year then everything clicks and you start playing good is great achievement while facing some tough teams

In other words, Fourmidables and centurions did a great job in proving they cant run rings on European giants, but local Huddersfield and Watford.

I’m a Man Utd fan… but the slander on Liverpools 19/20 is an embarrassment. Liverpool had more wins more points more goals scored, and won it in a record amount of time. People don’t pay money to watch Chelsea keep clean sheets all the time. They pay money to be entertained, and Liverpool were far more entertaining in their title winning campaign than Chelsea EVER were. I'm just going to say it: the 1999 Man U team are overrated - in fact, their 2008 team was way better. Don't get me wrong - a treble is a massive achievement, but they had plenty of luck along the way. And overall, they won the title with 79 points. Most PL seasons, that'd get you, what, 3rd? 4th even in some years? City's Treble was more emphatic.
I honestly don't get this whole points tally crap. If a team win the league with 100 points and the closest team to them is 20 points behind how is that competitive. Majority of SAF's league title winning campaigns are close, some 1 point gaps, 2 points and at large 10 points. Highest point's tally was 92 ( i think, correct me if I'm wrong) which proves the league was way more competitive back then compared to now.
