I still don’t know how they did the double over Wolves that year💀
They know wolves they struggled against the big prem teams
Wolves were doing gods work
@@Vizehprayers up to your Burnley team playing City 🙏🏻😭 Maybe Kompany will pull a miracle
Wolves were the Robin Hood of that season. They took the points off the top teams and gave it to the bad teams
Don't remind me loooool
Another team that was pretty horrible in their second season up was Sheffield United. They were fighting for Europe and they next thing you know they are relegated with 23 points. Interest to see how they do this year…
23 points was more than the previous 3 last place teams at the time so wasn’t as bad as it looked at Xmas. As a blade hoping we won’t have a repeat of that 20/21 season
@@christopheralexander6833 Ok yes but 2 of those wins came at the end of the season with 3 games to go with nothing to play for. It was really more like 17 points they amassed, much like Huddersfield Town

All 1 goal losses where we either missed massive chances in the game or conceded stupid goals. Gave similar amount of effort as the season before but lack of fan among other things completely destroyed us
The fact that they even survived for a second season was an achievement in its own right. Especially since their last three games were at Man City, Chelsea, and Arsenal, and they managed to draw two of them to earn safety.
Nobody talks about how they drew 0-0 against City at the Etihad. If it wasn't for that City would've had 102 points in the prem
And they beat Man Utd that season.
We took points from the previous 4 Premier League Champions,we inflicted Man Utds first defeat of that season,we drew 1-1 with Leicester and then needing 2 point to stay up,we drew 0-0 at the Etihad the day City were crowned Champions and then drew 1-1 at Chelsea who had been last seasons champions.
Good to see this about my beloved club. Well researched and very accurate.
It was a great time to be a Town fan, sadly as quickly as it happened it went horribly wrong and we've still not properly recovered from that disastrous second season.
There's been some big recent changes at the club and I pray we once again can grace the premier league.
If you guys and Luton can do it, it’s still possible but it does look harder each year, thank you man❤
It's like Derby, they never really recovered from that infamous season and even lost two playoff finals depsite getting all the shots on target against QPR while they had just the one that they scored from. Now they are League 1.
It's like the footballing Gods are punishing them and your team for "embarrassing" a worldwide brand, but with you though, your promotion and survival were and still are totally unexpected achievements and part of Premier League history in a positive way.
Well researched? Really. I thought it was an absolute load of shit myself. Factually incorrect in places.
how do you see Wagner now?
@@theterrier5476 Yeah it completely missed out the dog bothering...
As an Aussie, always had a soft spot for Huddersfield as Mooy was playing quite well for them. A shame that they failed in the transfer market trying to bring in goals - just goes to show that even a team living the fairytale of promotion to the PL, how important it is to nail your transfer business. The margins between successfully staying up and being relegated (and potentially feeling the repercussions of bad signings for seasons to come) are so severe. Doesn't help that for a lot of these 'surprise' promoted sides, they probably don't have owners or scouting departments with the resources or prestige to attract players - making it even harder to sign proven talent if they have options elsewhere.
Would love to see them back in the PL one day
Mooy was insane I can’t lie, Luton may be trying to follow the same script of staying up, need an element of surprise
@@Vizehhe was amazing for Celtic last season. He still had it until he retired.
Absolutely loved Mooy! Probably one of the best to wear a town shirt imo. So many great memories thanks to him!
Fellow Aussie living in the US, here. Mooy will truly be missed. He did a lot for the socceroos and I wish he would’ve done better at Brighton when Matty Ryan was in goal for them.
fellow aussie here, he was a legend of Australian Football, he will be missed. Once Irvine goes we wont have a real leader in the midfield
i think just the fact they survived the first season is fairytale enough for them, although it also helps to not be the worst PL team of all time
I don’t think any Huddersfield fan can have any issues looking back on it too much
@Vizeh very proud of that 1st PL season, got some good results and were relatively comfortable for quite a chunk of that season (just towards the end the PL grind nearly caught us!). Just wish we hadn't shat the bed in the transfer market the summer after, not that I think we wouldn't have still been in a relegation battle again but at least we could have made the fall back to the Champ more comfortable!
Respect to Wolves and Brighton. This put into perspective how far they’ve come
Wolves from 7th to 13th?
Wolves are going down this season for sure
Wolves were absolutely exceptional when they came up, easily one of the best promoted sides ever seen in the premier league. You could make a case for the best.
The way Brighton are selling their players, they will end the same way as Leicester. Wolves just refusing to invest and hoping to make up numbers in the Prem. Both ways all lead to eventual relegation. :/
@@gatsbygoodwood2575Brighton have been selling their best players since they got promoted and have improved nearly every season. Not saying anyone is too good to go down, it could happen to Brighton, but it would be a shock.
shocking season indeed, so much has changed in the last 5 years
How Corberán almost dragged Huddersfield back into the Prem was incredible
I find it funny how the top half of that year was nearly the same except that Wolves and West Ham swapped places in the table and Everton barely survived instead of Brighton
Being a Huddersfield fan is basically signing a contract on not having a stable heart rate
Welcome to the beautiful game😂

As a Forest fan, I have nothing but respect for Huddersfield, they've had some unbelievable highs and some unbelievable lows and I sincerely wish them the best
You too mate
if it wasnt for huddersfield town we'd be in the championship now
It will always bother me how we could’ve really built on that first season in the prem but poor recruitment absolutely destroyed us. 2018 summer we were linked with Adama Traore, Andre Silva, Tammy Abraham, Ante Rebic, Xherdan Shaqiri and even James Maddison the january before… and ended up with Diakhaby, Pritchard, Sobhi, Mbenza etc
18/19 was hard to watch as a fan but we were unlucky with refereeing decisions and injuries (especially Mooy). We still probably didn’t have enough to stay up anyway though
Also, I love how well run Brighton are but it does hurt a bit considering we were promoted with them. What could’ve been with a different DoF/or if we landed those targets!
yes, I remember how we nearly got Maddison and I think Traore agreed to sign but changed his mind,... hope we can turn it around after we were just an own goal away from a shootout to the PL year before last
Their championship season they came up was crazy, the only team in English football to win promotion with negative goal difference. They won 25 games, 22 of which by a 1 goal margin. Crazy that their first premier league win 3-0 vs Palace was a bigger win than 45 of their matches in the previous season. Also they won promotion from League One and League Two via the play-offs and won both on penalties, with their league one penalty shootout vs Sheff Utd going all the way to the goalkeepers who decided their fate. Always had a soft spot for them, sad to see them collapse, hopefully they'll be back one day.
I am a legitimate Huddersfield Town fan, and that relegation really hurt. The Championship has been such a yo-yo, but seriously how do you finish third one season and have a terrible one next? But all I'm saying is we will return one day!
I would love to see a video about one team from the polish Ekstraklasa from the 17/18 season, 99% of you all don't know Sandecja Nowy Sacz but they managed to go 22 games without a win, it's a pretty similar story to huddersfield but they actually relegated to the 3rd tier this season, it would mean a lot to me if you did a vid about them
Kurde ale Sosnowiec też tak będzie w tym sezonie
Crazy what Wagner managed to achieve with those players.
Was a great job at recruitment too!
The plight of Huddersfield and others trying to establish themselves in the Premier League makes Wigan surviving there for eight seasons with one of the smallest budgets all the more remarkable.
Even the year they were eventually relegated they finished on 36 points - more than enough to survive ordinarily - and won the FA Cup.
That Josh windass mug looks brilliant, I might get one for Christmas as a Wednesday fan
A lot of people love the Windass to be fair, thank you!
I remembered Huddersfield having an awful season that year, but I didn't remember it being that awful for them.

Great Video as always Vizeh. Take nothing away, it was a great achievement for them to stay up in their first season, but whilst they got the goals when it mattered against teams around them, they were also blessed with the fact Southampton, Swansea, Stoke & West Brom were all in complete turmoil that season, all changing managers so was almost like they were blessed that there were 4 worse teams having their own shitshows that year, and as we all know, that can't be bet on 2 years in a row. Whilst there was a bit of that anyway in the teams around them in the second season, it wasn't as bad as the ones from 17/18. We saw them lose wagner in january and just seem down and out for the rest of the season after and the others were lucky to not finish bottom because Huddersfield were THAT kind of worse team in 18/19, similar to that that kept them up the previous year.
Yes Julio! Forgot to mention they did the double against us 🤣🤣
I do think the 17/18 year was a poor Premier League season, purely on the fact Burnley we’re 7th that year too haha
@@dan.k4317 Only cus Vizeh eluded to it in the video, Wolves took points off the top 6 and gave them to the bottom teams modern day robin hood🤣
@@juliolleshi751 True lmaooo
Hudds looked decent in their first season, and regularly dominated games. They lacked the fire power to finish above mid table, however, and poor signings saw them fall apart in their second prem season. I wouldn't put them in the top ten of worst prem teams even in this second season, though.
Serious lack of research here. A lot of us expected us to stay up in the first season and we did. The 2nd season, although I agree we were the worst side in the division we weren’t actually that bad and dominated matches against teams such as Liverpool and Spurs far more than we did in the first season. Also we’re does this myth come from in the modern age that we were “mainly a 3rd tier club” or whatever your word were “prior to getting into the Premier lge”. That’s just not true. In our 115 year history (minus the war years) we have had 22 seasons in the 3rd tier and just 6 in the 4th tier. In contrast we have spent 32 seasons in the top flight and more than 40 in the 2nd tier.
Aaron Mooy, Celtic icon. So sad he had to retire at 32, in the middle of his second prime essentially, because of a recurring back injury. He was a key starter in our midfield for a couple months and I don’t think we’d’ve won the domestic treble without him.
Got a feeling Luton will be added to the list but i hope not i do love an underdog story.
Luton will be on the level of 15-16 Villa, but I don’t think they’ll be close to Derby, and probably not around Huddersfield
Maybe in their second session, think they'll surprise a few this year especially when they play at home
As someone who was born and raised in Huddersfield, I never supported the club (Newcastle United Is My Club). I was still so happy to see my local club get into prem. The town was so alive for two years and was a quite cool time 😂
I will never stop wearing my Huddersfield jersey, even though nobody in Holland knows who they are
As a town fan we were just happy to be there but the board mad some were shocking decisions, recruitment was poor , managerial decison was a howler but that first season was something special
Exactly some cracking memories too
The fact we somehow drew to them in the second to last game made me question how why I support United. Ngl that season was horrific and loving the videos

I'd like to see one on Birmingham. These last 10+ years since we were last in the Premier League have been hard for us and hopefully things look to be on the up with the takeover
2:53 In the 16-17 season, 22 out of their 25 victories were by one goal, including all 10 on the road. Defeats were sometimes heavy; Fulham outscored them 9-1.
I think the full saying is actually “hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard”
As a Terrier, beating Man Utd in our 1st PL season was a fever dream
you only won because you were at home, if it was at old trafford you would have gotten slapped up
As a long-time fan of town, it's a fair video. Another reason that wasn't in the video that the board had a lot of the say in the transfer market as well. Now with a new owner only time will tell how things will go now. Keep up the good work 👏 UTT
As a town fan we had the worst transfer window in the clubs history before the 18/19 season.
We were nowhere near ready for the PL in all aspects so it bound to end disastrously. Paying for those shambolic players has hurt us until recent seasons, even now we’re still shit.
Also the Mbenza deal spending all our championship budget on one player was the most disgraceful transfer business I’ll ever see
I love this club js bc I did a whole 15 year career mode w them. I've followed them ever since
In 2018-19, Huddersfield only scored 3 goals in a single game one time... They lost that game. The defense and spirit just collapsed compared to the year before

Concerning Ramadan I saw an interview he had in Arabic, he said event the day he arrived with the terriers he was told he woudn't be having too much game time.
I just remember when Huddersfield was playing at West Ham away they were up 3-1 chanting “we want four”, only for West Ham to win 4-3
Was there in that away end😂 thanks for remind me😢
Painful season for us, granted teams like us will probably never establish themselves in the premier league but we went down with a whimper. Things looked up in November 2018 with wins over Fulham and wolves but that was as good as it got.
I didn’t see us win during our 2 years in the premier league but I never thought I’d see us there in my life so I’ll take that. It was a 45 year wait and no matter what happens we got there.
in fairness you's did win the league title 3 times in a row, granted it was the 1920's, but if a team was established once no reasn why they can't become established again.
Depends what you mean by establish. I’d consider 5 seasons as establishing yourself. Smaller clubs than us have done it and we did it ourselves albeit not since the 1950s.
If you aren’t a London club or a northern powerhouse it’s very difficult to do it these days.
Outside the modern top 6 anyone can go down in most seasons. I’d probably exempt Newcastle or to an extent Brighton from that these days. West Ham will be comfortable this season.
It was a miracle that we got promoted to the premier league in the first place, it was an even bigger miracle that we stayed up!!
That Huddersfield side were woeful, but I'd cast a vote for the Villa side that got relegated in 2016. Horrendous.
Also a shout for 2006 (i think) Sunderland. Awful team who resorted to cheap shots and the only thing they accomplished was sending Alan Shearer into retirement
Shearer was gone by the end of the season anyway and for his last kick of the ball being top bins against the mackems I think he won that particular battle 😂 but could not agree more on villa they we're woeful

I may be biased here being an Argyle fan but I really think a video looking at the rise of Plymouth Argyle would be good from going into administration and almost dropping out the football league in 2011/12 and still being in league two in 2018 to winning league one last season against all odds and building towards becoming a sustainable championship club with good signings this summer. This has all been done with little investment and a small budget compared to the teams around us! Love your content man keep it up!
as a huge town fan, this season was inevitable after our crazy escape the year before. in the end, hopefully we can get back to the pl one day, but either way, up the town.
As someone who goes to Huddersfield games regularly, this is painful
They got promoted against all odds via the playoffs on a very limited budget and managed to stay up in their first season so you gotta say fairplay to them for that, a lot of teams have spent way more money than they did in the past and did a lot worse! Am not a Huddersfield fan either but credit where credit's due 🙂

You might not want to, but could you do a video on the downfall of reading fc, from championship points record to points deductions, financial problems such as not paying taxes and struggling to register players in league one.
Fun Fact: David Wagner is also one of the reason of Schalke 04's enormous downfall. After the club was hit by a serious financial crisis relating to Covid, the club had a winless streak in the entire second half of 2019/20, but still managed to avoid the relegation, largely due to the numerous draws. However, things got even worse during the first three games of the Bundesliga 2020/21, where they got embarrassed 0-8 by Bayern Munich, 0-4 by Leipzig, and 1-3 by Werder Bremen. He was sacked after this, and Schalke didn't return their good form again with 3 wins, 7 draws, and 24 losses, and had 4 managerial changes in just one season.
What does Wagner have to do with their downfall?
@@messi9991 Actually he is not responsible, but the club itself that had a big issues with management.
Also, the crisis initially started a long time before Covid. The club achieved lowest notes in European competitions, losing 0-7 to Manchester City. Domenico Tedesco (currently the Belgium coach) was sacked afterwards, and the club was unable to maintain consistencies in Bundesliga, finishing outside Europe twice in a row.

Huddersfield was that one team you dared your mate to play with while you used a godly team on FIFA 18 (I still lost :( )
Don’t know why Swansea were given as the example of second season syndrome, their second season was the ‘Michu’ season, one of our best 🦢🦢

Huddersfields last time up they beat city I think, at their stadium, which is beautiful I may add

As a Huddersfield fan I have to say Wagner was so special. Even before the start of our promotion season there was a feeling of something special around the club. Hopefully with us being relegated this season we can have a fresh new start and go again and try and bounce straight back up but I’m not that confident to be honest
Coventry. Everyone talks about Luton when they were in League Two. But also with them was Coventry. Coventry have had an incredible rise in the last 5 years. Plus they just lost the play off final to Luton. This would make a perfect video...

Predominantly Tier 3 team!!?? In over 110 years of existence, Town have only had 22 seasons in Tier 3, we’ve had loads more in BOTH the top 2 tiers!! And at the start of the 16/17 season, loads of Town fans thought they had a chance of going up, maybe they thought it was too much to ask, but they did think, and I think a lot thought that we’d stay up the following season (definitely not the one after, we knew it wouldn’t last…) Also, Wagner was Borussia Dortmund II coach before he managed Town too…
It amazes me in this day and age with information so readily available, people get things so wrong. Town hadn’t been below the top 2 divisions in our first 63 years. Even since then it’s now 28 seasons below the 2nd tier and 23 in the top 2 tiers.

Their relegation/subsequent poor performances didn't shock the Premier League, though. Huddersfield went from a team finishing 19th during the 15/16 season to a team getting promoted via the play-offs a year later. It was a miracle that they survived two seasons in the Premier League.
