At least a dozen years ago I stopped using Hi-Tack gasket spay except for rare applications and instead use Gasgacinch which you can now buy on Amazon or at many parts store, additionally you can also buy at Summit or Jeg’s because Eddlebrock now rebrands as one of their products. The stuff comes in a can with a brush and spreads thinly and easily and unlike “gorilla snot” (weather stripping adhesive) will not spit gaskets and is water and oil resistant but still is easy enough to remove when service of that part/gasket is required.

If you ever get out west towards Jackson, WY, give us a shout. We have an amazing RV site you can stay at and we will hire you to go over our 1994 Wanderlodge with the 8V92. It is a very unique coach and we are putting it up for sale next week. It has been modified/upgraded extensively to be used as an off-grid boondocking machine. It has a complete Outback system with dual inverters (for redundancy and just because), dual solar controllers and 1680 watts of solar panels on the roof with a custom tilting mechanism operated by a key fob, and 1250 amp hours of agm battery bank (brand new) and brand new Michelin XZE tires. Has 70K miles on it. I enjoy your videos as always!

Wow what a job and a dirty one.
But hey one more happy bus.
    Q. you’ve been on your property for a while now could you do an updated toolbox show and tell.
I love watching you bring the old buses back to full health.

The drive shaft that would mate up with the blower, looked like the updated version with the coarse splines. I could relate a 5-day nightmare back in '94 where the truck I was driving crapped out due to a stripped out fine-splined shaft. Also chewed the sprocket. The shop I was in ordered the parts (shaft and both end sprockets) but some idiot kept on sending the wrong damn parts, where sprocket and shaft wouldn't mate up because of the different spline setup. After the third failure, my boss back home went to our local shop, got the correct matching sprockets and shaft, and shipped them via BAX. Once they arrived, truck was up and running just after lunch. Glaser Diesel, pretty nice people, but whomever they dealt with for their DD parts was a complete idiot. I mean, GEEEZ, after screwing it up twice, you'd think somebody would look at the damn parts inside the plastic bag to see why they kept getting returned.

Man! Old age and treachery sure came to the fore on that seal!
Jerry did a beautiful job of cleanup. That was a chore. There's something satisfying about making things new.
Today's task is similar on my end. Going to pull the turbo and intake on a 6.0 Powerstroke today, replacing the oil cooler in the same position. I'll be sucking plenty of oil and detritus from that engine.

Do you have to order a lot of parts, like the seal and gasket? Seems doubtful you maintain a full complement of seals, gaskets, hoses, hardware, etc for even a few common engines. Do you have a place close by that stocks any or they can be shipped to them? Or are most received by mail/UPS etc? Seems like it would be often you get into a job, and find "oh, we need a hoosywhazzit"

I was beginning to wonder where they put the aftercooler in these engines. I would had thought it was before the blower and not after.
Last time I had to deal with an oil leak it was in a Ford Focus with a Duratec 20/Mazda LF engine. It is quite common for them to develop a leak around the valve cover. When it happens oil will fill up the holes around the spark plugs and drip onto the heat shield on the exhaust manifold.
