Very detailed review. It answered all of my questions and shared the user experience. It provided all the important details without getting too technical. I intend to get the three Viltrox AF 1.4 lenses for my Nikon Z fc and this video got me a lot closer to deciding. Thank you!
Thank you for the detailed review Paul! I got this lens a few days back for my Z 250. So far great pics. Will explore more in the coming days.
very informative video sir, thank you 😊 please make more videos on Nikon Z50

Outstanding video!
Thank you very much! Appreciate the support.
Nice review Paul looks promising .
Thanks Jim 😀
Yes! I have this lens, 33mm for my z50,
nobody really saw the difference between the full frame & apc-s
thanks to the 1.4 aperture.
I love the red car 🚗 picture!
Thank you for the feedback and for watching 👍
Sound great, I also have the Z50 and like car photos. How do think about it now after 10 months?
Thanks mate! That was a perfect review for me. Having a Z50 and likes car photos and wonder about how it works in low light with no IBIS. Your review answered all my questions :) and BTW, I think I liked the car photo best :)
I am.really enjoying your videos and tips. Thanks for the great shots of Dadz65, she looked amazing. Mal
Cheers Mal, will have to hook up again sometime for some more shots.
Paul.
Great videos.I heard that TTArtisan going to release a 32mm Zmount AFlens, will you have it to reiview?
Thanks Paul for a very interesting review. I have seen it advertised here in the UK but yours is the first review I’ve seen. I have just purchased a Nikon Z5 so I’m looking for an alternative lens. I’ve got to say I’m very impressed. I loved the portrait with the lad with the tattoo’s plus the musicians. Thanks so much for putting this lens through it’s paces. All the best Graham🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍📷📸
Do note that this is a lens for APS-C (Nikon Z50 and Z fc), but not for the full frame Nikon Z5.
Viltrox has another two full frame prime lens, the 24 mm f/1.8 and 35 mm f/1.8
These would be suitable for the Nikon Z5.
@@stevenlau9180 thanks Steven!
Thanks for the video. How does the AF perform in video mode?
That's a new intro. Very nice!
Glad you like it Candice - thank you.
Yes the new intro is so much better :)
Tried the 56mm lens for my z50 and did a few portait shots and fell in love with the pics and just went to buy a 33mm lens to do some street and fashion photography
thanks Chris, I'm considering to buy the 56mm lens, too - to use it on my Z50. I currently own their 23mm f1.4 and I love it. Paul, will you do further tests/reviews of the other Viltrox APS-C lenses?
Hi Paul I’ve already got a Canon nifty fifty, do you think I should get this viltrox 33mm for the zfc?
Another great informative video Paul, thank you. Wondering if Viltrox has the same lens for a Canon mount?
They do but it is designed for the M series mirrorless cameras.
Paul would the Canon M lens version be good for my car videos I do? Mal DADZ GARAGE
I don’t see why not, but for video I would probably go with a wider lens. Viltrox also have a 23mm version which might be worth considering.
Paul, did you do any video using this lens?
How quiet is the autofocus? I need a lens like this to record with. My mic is always picking up the autofocus on my current lens. I need to have my mic next to the camera for some of my setups.
Great review man! For the price point of this lens, the Viltrox 33mm f1.4 is truly value for money. I'm blown away by the fact that both the lens and hood are constructed from metal. Nikon Singapore was kind enough to loan me their 35mm f1.8 lens for the Z mount and even their lens (that costs a grand too!) uses a plastic hood. Really great stuff from Viltrox, may actually just get one of these for my Z50
Hi, im new to digital photo, I have a nikon z fc and wanted to buy the nikon z 50mm 1.8 but now I know about the crop sensors, I saw the nikon 35mm 1.8 but the price is very expensive in my country, should I buy a viltrox 33 or 35mm? Or going for the nikon z 50mm? I used my film camera mostly for cosplay portraits with a 50mm rikenon also have an adapter for pentax k to nikon z
@@pinceno if you're using a Zfc, I would definitely recommend you getting the viltrox 33mm f1.4 lens. The Nikon z 50mm is great but if price is a concern for you then you should definitely get the viltrox option. Cheers mate
@@alanchan569 thanks, actually I was worried because of the crop sensor, they told me that if a want a 50mm I should buy the 28-35 nikon, just ordered this viltrox, any lens advice for cosplay photo shoot? Also should I order the nikon 50?
@@pinceno Nikon 35 MM lens will be nearly 53mm on Z50, and f1.8 will become f2.5 something when using that lens on Z50 & Zfc
I have purchased this lens how do I use the micro usb is it for updating if so how?
How is it performing on full frame frame bodies like the Z
hi photo genius please i need an expert advise about some lenses i own !! can you please help me about this topic
i have 2 old lenses : 1 - EBC X-Fujinon Z F = 35-70mm and a second one 2- Planar 1.4 / 50 Carl Zeiss 6049185
so my question is i have a canon 700D can i use those 2 lens on it with a rig amount !!? and which one should i bring or do i have to buy 2 different rigs for each one of them ? thanks for help in advance

I can absolutely recommend the Viltrox 33mm f1.4 which will be perfect on your zfc and no adaptor required. Thanks for watching.
Hello, Very good reviews,
I also bought Nikon ZfC and like to buy prime lens, is it possible for you to review Viltrox 56mm 1.4.
Also please create video how to setup i menu and other settings in ZfC. Thanks
I don't have the 56mm to review I'm afraid. I will be putting together a Zfc review video and maybe a Zfc tips video as well if I get enough interest.
Thanks for watching Amit.
@@photogenius thank you. I love see tips zfc
Hello Paul,. Thanks for a great suggestion. I bought one for my Zfc. One drawback that I found was that there wasI no Vibration reduction available when this lens was attached. Did you also find this to be true? Gina
Hi Gina, I haven't found the lack of stabilisation to be a problem, with such a wide aperture, the shutter speed should mostly be fast enough for camera shake to not be an issue. I am sure you will get some great photos and fall in love with the lens.
Thanks for watching.
@@photogenius Thanks Paul. I bought both my Zfc and my Viltrox 33mm after watching your reviews.
I am an artist and wanted a camera with which I could take my own reference pics. I wanted a capable one that I could learn with and these are proving to be fantastic.
Thanks one more time for all of the great camera and photo info. One day, I will make it to Australia and when I do, I hope to join a hands on class or two from the one and only Photo Genius!!
Cheers! - G
i have it and cant get it to work on zfc? i updated the camera firmware and the lens firmware nd it still marks (f-) so it wont focus
Can using ND filters in bright sunlight solve the colour fringing issue...??
Link for these raw pictures please?
Sir can u make video on moon photography with 18mm-55mm
I'm afraid you will not get a successful moon photo with an 18-55mm lens, you will need a much longer focal length, I would recommend 250-300mm ideally.
@@photogenius thank you sir
I have a nikon z50 camera which I am using for vlogging. Can you please recommend an affordable, yet good quality, lens for video blogging.
For Vlogging I'm guessing you will want a wider lens, might be worth considering the Viltrox 23mm which is coming soon... see link.

@@photogenius thanks
I have never heard of that company either but looks interesting.. where is the lens made?
China
The silver version of that lens should exist for the Nikon zfc! C'mon Viltrox!
is this one good to capture northern lights in videos?
I don't see why not, but the field of view may be a little narrow.
Ich habe mir auch diese Linse gekauft, aber bis Blende 1.8 / 2.0 kaum zu benutzen, die Farbsäume gehen kaum weg, sonst in Ordnung, Fokus gelegentlich lahm.
Thanks for saying Nikon properly, as nee-kon, which is how they say it in Japan. Americans usually say NIGH-kon.
Thanks Peter 👏
