The evil eye ability is likely influenced by the myth of Balor One-Eye, who was the king of the Formorians in Irish mythology and had one eye "that wreaks destruction when opened." No information on if he had a ruby-quartz visor.

Once had a Fomorian wearing a cloak of Elvenkind...as a loincloth. Oddly none of the party wanted that piece of loot. They later sold it to a Svirfneblin merchant who proceeded to clean it with Prestidigitation, and the Dwarf Wizard began to weep after realizing he could’ve done the same.

I have liked and commented! I continue to serve the grotesquely beautiful dungeoncast! There's little time for greetings milords, as I write this letter I am hiding in the underdark. After last week I decided to investigate for troglodytes, they were easy enough to slay, but it turns out they were merely slaves to fomorians living below our feet this whole time! These uglies ordered the troglodytes to come to the surface to bring back new slaves. There's an entire tribe of the damn things down here! I have to stop them before they take action against the city above now that the troglodytes are dead. I've managed to avoid the gazes of their over sized eyes so far, but they know something is down here. The time for combat comes, and soon I will have to leave the safety of the shadows. Until next week milords, have a good day. If I'm even able to write you then...
Always love a good giant episode. I personally prefer them as more akin to giants than having them be fey creatures, but either way their awesome. They remind me a lot of clan nosferatu from vampire the masquerade, who are a clan of monstrous deformed vampires, who also get their own unique deformities. They also remind me of a character I've wrote up for my own fantasy setting, without getting far into details I have a demi god who's a patron to all things hideous, he himself is also responsible for making orcs in my setting.
I finally have a new idea to share. Here's a concept for a bbeg, imagine a fomorian who acquires the eye of vecna and replaces his none magical eye with it. A powerful magic using fomorian could make for a great bbeg.
Lastly just a thought. If a fomorian gets sad whenever he sees clothes, does that mean they'd take their slaves clothes? Nudist slave colony?
Ok that's all my dumb thoughts this time, see you next week guys!

I'm at the end (ish) of a heavily Fomorian centered homebrew campaign. My GM tweaked some things and made them aberrant to fit the setting and the story he was going for, but they're definitely still nothing to sneeze at! When I saw that they were the focus of this video I got so excited.

Folks gotta make a living, man 🤷‍♂️ it ain’t the most terrible thing in the world, just gotta skip. If anything blame the societal/economical gap between the rich and mid/lower class which then leads to content creators physically needing to have as many adds as possible just so they can make enough money to keep getting by, meanwhile the rich are taxed less (per capita) and are allowed far more leniency in an overall sense.
My bad that kinda dragged on 🙃

For historic context, people used to see deformities as a sign of evil. They thought the mother had sinful thoughts or actions while pregnant which is why the baby is deformed. Many were left in the wilderness to die. Look up "Mooncalf" and "Maternal impression" for more info.

  • @TKnightcrawler

Good episode. Fomorians are the main villains of my campaign since I figured out a really cool dastardly plan they could have. I've read a lot of stuff about them. There are some conflicting sources about whether they can still cast magic. Specifically, I think some sources say their evil eye is the only way they can express their magic now. I think I read - or maybe I just head-canoned - that their curse makes using magic incredibly painful to them, so in my mind only the strongest-willed or most masochistic fomorians might use magic. I don't think it's that unusual that some would enter the Underdark from the Feydark; there are fey crossings down there. Too bad there is like a single short paragraph of detail about the Feydark. I was really helped the other day by an AJ Pickett stream where he mentioned that Fraggle Rock could basically be the Feydark. I couldn't watch it as a kid, so I am gonna try to watch it soon. I've even been juggling the idea of making them somewhat cartoonishly-evil in the Feydark (like a Jim Henson villain that actually kills people while singing), and unemotionally-evil in the Underdark (closer to how they were depicted in older sources, like "The Lost Mythal" novels). The idea behind that is in their attempts to control the magic of the Feywild, they had to connect themselves to the plane (which they were originally immigrants to) on a fundamental level. They might not even realize that they change so drastically when leaving the Feywild.
