    First time viewer, wanna start by saying I respect and appreciate your opinions, personally I feel this game isn't being given a fair shake if it's going to be continuously compared to Fromsoft, it's certainly inspired by their work but I don't think you gave enough credit for what the game did really well. Some of the negative points you brought up seem to be because of your personal playstyle, if your big sword is hitting the walls then change your weapon, and I mean that as kindly as possible, much of the point of having this character who is more than human is the ability to adapt. On almost every encounter the player can approach it like a puzzle and problem solve a solution that will help them overcome their obstacle, the game is giving you tools to augment your playstyle and there is plenty of variety that there isn't one right answer to every problem. And when you finally fit the pieces together just right you feel a real sense of accomplishment. If the boss is too difficult, summon the specter, the game throws the player various improvements to this very mechanic, the game is constantly giving you the material needed to summon a companion and even if it doesn't last the full fight it gives the player an opportunity to limit their spending of resources for the second phase. The weapon customization, the build variety, the upgrade system are all excellently executed and it wasn't really given much attention in this critique, I mean even the use of the grindstone to augment your damage type for the specific encounter was a great addition. Again, I respect your opinion and it's a bummer you didn't have more fun with the late game, I think that they did a great job with this game and personally I'm excited to see what they can come up with next. I'm gonna subscribe because I want to see what you come up with next too! Peace and Love Gamer 🍻

      i guess the whole point of the uncanny valley comparison was that because Lies of P is so good it gets compared to better (or higher budgeted) games and then falters in those comparisons. like, if it was a worse game it wouldnt be compared to fromsoft titles as much. which is a concept i found interesting which is why i focused on it. also i think i said in this video that i didnt mention most of the good things Lies of P does, and instead focused on what frustrated me (pretty sure i said this but it may have been cut i dont remember). if i failed to communicate that clearly then that's on me, and i failed to be coherent

      @@Lawllin Thanks for taking the time to reply, it's possible that you did but I think on the whole it somewhat seemed like you were almost disappointed by Lies of P, that's just my perspective and again your opinions are your own and I respect that, I did a full blind playthrough that I've been uploading to my own channel and so that has also influenced my own opinions of the game because it helped me slow down and take things in a bit more and I came to really admire a lot of the decisions they made. Very impressed by their take on this genre and for having not produced something of this caliber (haha, caliber) I thought it was pretty awesome. Peace and Love to you Gamer!

    i add that apparently i played a version of this game before/ without the patch that has since reduced boss HP. so actually, i think this game is worth playing (tho maybe not on gamespass where it's suspect if the was applied)

    Other than the black rabbit bastards, I wouldn’t call any of the boss fights bad, but the phase 2 bullshit gets old.

    Very fair take! It's my second souls like game and I am currently enjoying at chapter 8. Now the patch dropped making some boss HP lower and it hit that point in your video. I'm excited to see if it makes the fights more enjoyable as I do agree some of the bosses just take a very loooooong time to whittle down

      @Lawllin  Před 8 měsíci +1

      glad youre enjoying the game! hopefully you enjoy it up thru the end. whats also nice is you got a pretty good selection of fromsoft games to try next. tho if you want something similar to lies of p id probably recommend bloodborne for the atmosphere and general style. or sekiro for the emphasis on parrying and prosthetic arm attachments (sekiro is a lil weirder tho cause it has a jump button but it’s also pretty unique)

    Good takes, good review. I will say that putting end game bosses in a review where people are most likely watching to decide if they want to play is lame. I am what I assume to be 95% of the way through, currently facing door guardian, and was thinking I could watch people's reviews spoiler free, then I see Simon and got a little sad since I hadn't gotten to him yet. Listened to the rest of the vid out of curiosity, but didn't watch. May be an unpopular opinion, but I think reviews should only have clips from major story beats/bosses in the first 10-20% of game, and any clips beyond that are just small snippets of environment. Just my thought.

    • @Lawllin
      @Lawllin  Před 8 měsíci

      i would say that if people are deciding if they want to play the game or not then they wouldnt know which is a late game boss or not without context (an none was given in this video). and games can shift dramatically after the first 10%. it took me 25hours to beat the game and only incorporating the first 2.5(?) hours of lies of p wouldnt be representative of the game especially when my main issue arose with the later boss fights. and im sorry you werent happy seeing a boss fight you havent gotten to

      @@Lawllin I think you can conceptually speak towards issues with late game bosses without needing footage of them. If you are insistent on putting late game footage in your reviews, I think it would at least be fair to state spoilers in footage/content. Or have a section of the video dedicated to it, so people can skip if they want. I know plenty of other content creators who do that in their reviews. Just providing feedback, follow it if you want.

    I did not find much problem with the bosses, but I heard the same complaints from some friends of mine who playes strength builds. Most bosses on dex weapons felt really good at least for me.

      well ggs that’s on me then lmao. i just miss my claymore from dark souls 1 so i try to use something like it in any soulslike i play (because i fear change)

    • @davismorganmusic
      @davismorganmusic Před 8 měsíci

      Strength build is absolutely not the way to go. I kinda feel bad for the devs because they seem to want to encourage different styles of play but the Souls community ends up complaining because they can’t use the same strategy for the millionth time.

    • @Lawllin
      @Lawllin  Před 8 měsíci

      @@davismorganmusic they added respecing now, so hopefully that makes trying out different builds better. but this was def on me for taking the option i was (supposedly) more comfortable with from other games.

    what boss took you 15 minute to kill? in all my time playing not a single boss fight took more than 4 minutes without using strong builds, throwables or spectre, if a boss is taking 15 minutes for a single fight then it is purely a skill issue as opposed to the game being unbalanced. it is known to be an extremely hard game due to how unforgiving dodges, blocks and enemies are in general but 15 minutes is absurd

  • @dylankremp1252
    @dylankremp1252 Před 8 měsíci

    No boss takes anywhere near 15 minutes... even before the HP nerfs the longest fights were 5 minutes which is the sweet spot. Unless you're not perfect guarding anything and just running to wait for 1 or 2 moves you want to punish instead of actually learning the fight

    I think it's really hard to let go of prejudice.
    Even so, this review contains too many blatant biases.
    Because the criticism you're talking about also applies to most FromSoft games.
    If this had been a FromSoft title, I bet most of your criticism here would have disappeared.

  • @ohma03
    @ohma03 Před 8 měsíci

    That makes sense.
    It’s good enough to be compared to the Hight Tier Games, but it will be placed in the low end of it.
    BUT in comparison towards the low-mid tier of games, Lies of P stands on top.

    • @Lawllin
      @Lawllin  Před 8 měsíci +1

      my goat! i just find it interesting how that happens sometimes with games. it’s such a good game but the better the game is the higher the standards i want to hold it towards are. like, lies of p has great mechanics, but why the fuck doesnt it tell you what stats do when you mouse over them lol

    • @randomnobody9229
      @randomnobody9229 Před 8 měsíci

      @Lawllin that is literally what FromSoftware does. I guarantee if this game was made by FS you would not have been so harsh. FS players love when the game forces you to figure things out on your own, well except for when another company does it.
      My friend playing Elden Ring had to ask me about literally every stat, mechanic, etc. Because the game explained nothing. Lies of P gives 10x explanation of what is going on than any of FS games ever has.

    • @Lawllin
      @Lawllin  Před 8 měsíci

      what a weird easily disprovable thing to say. you know that if you go to the stats screen in a souls game you can press a button that tells you what each stat does. also in the video said i liked this game- and i said if they tweaked the bosses (which they did) that id consider it even more enjoyable then some other souls games, personally. i feel like you didnt listen to what i said in the video and are just making assumptions about what you think i think

  • @user-tp7ef6rw4l

    Bosses are too hard? There's nothing in Lies of P that comes close to my first fight with Malenia or Morgott. Plus, "people dont want to spend hour or two hours to beat a boss fight"? Have you met souls community?

    • @defiantox2385
      @defiantox2385 Před 8 měsíci

      Both of them are a fun kind of hard, where you learn and grow and gain the knowledge through attempts to eventually beat both of them. Or specifically for like, morgott and elden ring philosophy of game design you leave gain power by exploring elsewhere in the world to come back and beat him. Lies of p bosses are hard because they aren't like, difficult in an interestingly mechanical way. They just have way too much health, you have way to low damage and they just dont give you opportunity's to actually hit them. So fights become long and that makes you become more and more likely to mess up because the way they attack gives very little you can do to try and respond. Lies of p bosses are a boring and unfun kind of hard, which is so much worse. I am more than happy to spend an hour or 2 learning a fun engaging boss where it feels fair to lose to it, but not when it just seems stacked against me in an unfair way.

      FROM software games are easier because of the human summons you can get.

    If this game came from FS it would not be receiving criticims like it has. I've beaten every gauntlet in Sekiro, no Kuro's charm and demon bell debuff. If you actually bother to engage with the combat systems you would see that they are as good as anything FromSoftware has had to offer. It doesnt falter in comparison, you just suffer from tribalism.
    The lore is more straightforward than Elden Ring, which literally has no overall explanation that anyone has been able to glean. Elden Ring has a hilarious amount of ganks, along with all of the other souls titles. And malenia, godskin apostle, etc. All have elevators taking you right to them. Great Owl boss fight from Sekiro has massive combos and turns into a bird before you can hit him. I can literally argue against every point that you have made, because your opinion is built on nothing.
    Did you even think before making this review. This is in the uncanny valley of reviews, where it looks like a review but is really just a list of emotional biases.

  • @danielbob4310
    @danielbob4310 Před 8 měsíci

    I can tell this reviewer sucks in the game. As for me this game is way harder than any from software game and I will say it’s well improved and better than any FROM software game. Lies of P gives you everything, ambushes, Mimi bosses every were, harder bosses, game depth etc
