I was warned about the 1.5t and told to buy the 2.0. Your video is full of information.
Good advise from those that warned you. Thanks for watching.
When I got mine I had a choice between a sport and a touring. Even though I could afford the touring one I opted to get the sport because I had a gut feeling that the 2.0 was gonna be more reliable. Guess I was right
Good call 🙌
@@BCautosolutions yes, I’m glad that I get to enjoy my car with no problems
All of my mechanic friends said the same thing. My powertrain engineer / mechanic brother pointed out that I maintained my 13 cruise echo and had zero issues for $140,000 mi, and it has a turbo. He said go for the one five, my dad pointed out that he bought his first new car back in the day and sacrificed on a bunch of options and paid it off quickly and then he did and he was like oh, wish I would have had those options. But man 11 months ago. I swear I went to bed with a headache every night making that decision between the awesome looking blacked out sport in blue or Sonic Gray, or trying to find the sport touring in a six-speed. Six-speed. Wow I don't miss all that stress involved with trying to find one, waiting for it to get built. I know I would be happy with a 2.0
I was in the camp where I couldn’t afford the touring. Glad I didn’t borrow the extra for the touring.
Also rocking the boost blue 🫡
My 2018 (10th gen) 1.5 liter turbo CVT bought new currently has 140,800 miles averaging 36.2 mpg. Other than the AC failure at approx 118,000 (under extended warranty for known issue) I’ve had no problems. The most expensive maintenance I’ve done so far were replacing the brake pads, rotors, tires, and the water pump, drive belt and PCV. I maintain religiously and plan to keep my 10th gen until the “wheels fall off”.
That’s awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing
Our 18 EX-T has 56k on it and the ac has gone bad, door handles had a short and kept killing the battery, alternator went out. At least I’m getting 39.5 mpg right now.

these videos are very helpful and a great idea. Keep them coming. thanks !!
Thank you. Will do, I have a few lined up. Also working on 2 videos of the tlx. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Thank you for the video.
I got mine last year, the finishing is poor, tick sound from dashboard and infotainment, took it to dealership 3 times but still the same, saying that these are inevitable or whatever. We placed some felt tape around the gap and problem solved. There was one day that almsot all warning lights up one by one, parking brake cannot be released, towed it to the dealership, they said the battery had some issue, got replaced, after 1-2 days later, the car won't start and the weird sound come up again when brake pedal was pressed. It was drivable so we took it to the dealership and they changed some kind of module. My father had 2008 accord and even until now he had no issues at all, accord and civic is different model but I am so disappointed with Honda, will never buy it again. We had loaner car from dealership (hatchback) while the module was replaced, the car was making so loud rattle sound. Sadly it is so hard to buy a new car now so we will wait until this supply issue is over, which will take several years probably
Hey sorry about your experience with your car. First year models tend to be pretty problematic until all the kinks are worked out. With that being said, it sounds like your dealer didn’t want to help the situation as well (shame on them) hopefully going forward the issues with the car are minimal and hopefully non existent. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the info. Always good to know what some of the minor and major issues with new Civic's. I just bought a new 22' Civic Si and love the thing already. But I will keep an eye out if anything does come up on mine. So far, everything is going great with my SI.
Congrats and wish you the best, not all people will see these “issues”. Love the look of the si in the 11th gen, much sell busy vs the 10th gen. Good luck with it 💪🏼
Hey did u have any problems with the gears in the break in period? I just got mine with less than 30 miles and it’s not responding to the 4th gear and sometimes it just doesn’t want to go in any of the gears!! Help
@@metroecco7908 No, I have had no issues with my 2022 Si yet. I kept it in "Normal" mode the whole 600 miles and under 4k RPM. After that, no issues to report. Coming up on 1800 miles and shifts like butter. I would recommend "Sport" mode as I feel like the engine works more freely than in "Normal" mode.
@@metroecco7908 sounds like you need to take it into your dealer. Shouldn’t be having shifting issues. Lmk what they find
@@BCautosolutions just got my civc back apparently 3rd and 4th gear was defected from the factory and they replaced both gears now everything drives good. sucks but now im excited to be driving it
The 2.0 is the smart choice for longevity.
💯
But would the 2.0 turbo slap though
@@geoxys5433 no
Its a shame too cause the 2.0 is not on the touring trim. Civic hatchbacks have one of the highest mpg, resale value and cargo space of a sub 30k car and still has good features. Anyone have another reliable option that is aroubd tge 30k mark with similar or better specs. I would say prius but i hate the interior.
@@HallowsawToyota Corolla Hatchback, 2019-2022 6 speed manual. Stay away from the CVTs
Although I’ve had my ‘22 Sport Touring for five months now, I haven’t had any issues yet. The infotainment at times takes a while to load but it’s not a dealbreaker or nuisance either.
Glad to hear. Some of these issues won’t apply to anyone. Unfortunately someone out there will run across most of them and then everywhere in between. I appreciate your input 👍🏻
I have a 9th gen Accord Sport and the it can take 20 seconds for the Bluetooth to connect and kick up audio from the cell phone. Wish it was quicker, but not as bad as my Toyota that can take up to 2 minutes to start connecting Bluetooth for the cell phone.
I've had my 22 sport touring hatch 6 speed for 11 months. I'm about to hit 14,000 mi. If I'm being picky there is a rattle somewhere. Maybe in the steering column I haven't been able to figure out. The people that ride with me. Don't notice it, but I do. Clutch isn't the greatest thing on earth but the gearbox feels amazing. I love this car. Little bit of wear on the leather seat on the side closest to the driver side door from me getting in and out of it a million times a day. I love it, there are times I still wonder about the GTI or potentially the SI. But I love this car.
Yeah I hear ya about the rattles. Most people won’t notice them but I can pick them up failry easy. Clutch is a known fact to be a weak point. Trans is usually pretty solid unless people are out there shifting like mad people lol. You can always go test drive the upgrade or competition just to see, doesn’t hurt 👍🏻
Owned my 22' 1.5T for a Year now, no problems no check engines nothing, Only glitch i see on the regular is the Radio Screen sometimes it wont work sometimes it lags an the only fix is to turn the car off an back on again.
I love this car alot its a great fun daily an i make 30.5 MPG i have the full Yofer Deluxe body kit + Yofer Spoiler paired with the Remark catback exhaust, currently saving for better suspension an wheels
Thanks for your input. 💪🏼
I’ve had the 2.0 and the 1.5 before. I just got my 22 on Saturday and chose the 1.5 again. I wish you didn’t have to get the 1.5 to get the upgraded options. That’s the reason I got it. I’m hoping for the best with it and with it being a Honda I feel good about it anyways. I chose the touring in Sonic gray Pearl.
Congrats, wish you good luck with it.
@@BCautosolutions Thank you! What has been your experience with the oil dilution issue? Do you feel it’s still something to worry about? I had heard they fixed it when I had my 10th gen.
@@reginaalear nothing to worry about it. Some internet gurus out there will still say the can smell gas in oil (normal in di engines) and try to argue all sorts of things. Long story short if there’s no problem, don’t go looking for one…
I heard they fixed the oil dilution problem, however I just got my 2023 civic sport last week and got the 2.0 for that reason didn’t want to risk it considering this will be my long term reliability car
@@Seth-fo6rf tbh I personally haven’t had anyone complaining about oil dilutions at our dealer. A ton of our customer base drives their car above average and considering the dilution “issue” seems to be on very cold days and short trips that could be part of the reason. Either way, your going to save yourself extra maintenance costs with the 2.0L. Congrats and best of luck with it.
Thanks for everything you do bro..
2022 LX Honda Civic 40k miles one year owner and I have had zero problems I love my purchase
Thanks for watching. So dar the 11th gen civic seems to be rock solid. My only concern at this point is headgasket failures one the 1.5t but only time will tell.
Already 40k miles?!?! Damn!
Damn I barely have 130k on my 08 fusion that’s crazy 😂
@@robertabramsky9535 yes I’ve seen 2-3 at around 40k
My 2022 Civic that I got on September 4, 2021 nearly has 14k miles. I love how the car looks and drives. Definitely a huge upgrade over the 10th gen Civic.
I have a 22 Si that just got checked out today by my dealer for the sticky steering issue, they test drove it and after talking with Honda Canada engineers they're replacing the steering rack (now ordered with ETA mid-march). I'm just worried they're going to replace it with an identical steering rack that's going to have the same issue down the road. My car has 7500 miles btw, the steering started to stick around 6000mi. Please keep us updated if you get any info or customer complaints about the sticky steering issue that's been plaguing 11th gen Civics. Thank you for making these videos btw, they're very informative and are much appreciated!
Thanks for the update, it’s possible that Honda will replace with the same exact rack your right but what they will do is take a look at yours and see what has failed and address it as deemed necessary. They take that stuff seriously. Thanks for the support.
‘23 Sport Touring here. Sticky steering issue just started happening at 24,000 miles. Took it to dealer last week and they said steering rack needed replacing. 3-5 month back order.
Thanks for the information - Mice seem to love oxygen sensors in my area have repaired 3 or 4 of them. Is there anything you think can be done to reduce the risk of the head gasket issues?
Make sure the coolant resivoir is always topped off. If the system is running even slightly low on coolant that raises the risk of higher temps which lead to premature head gasket failures. Also not using regular as detonation will also increase the risk of premature failures.
People in NY said they like Lysol you should look on TikTok or something

Thanks for the video. Am considering a 2022+ Civic Si as a daily driver eventually.
Thank you. Love them for a daily 👍🏻
Go get a 9th gen. 1.5s suk
@@Candybuiltsi Am definitely considering other options away from the 1.5t motor.
Great informative video 👏
I just bought a 2022 touring 1.5T I love it so far
Nice, enjoy it
Just got a 23 civic hatch sport. Love the engine 2.0 but the driver side window regulator is faulty so im a lil let down . Fun car. Sporty and quick for what it is holds the road very nice! I did have a 1.5 accord sport. I had issues with the trunk randomly opening. He is right this is a new generation of k20’s u can boost em. Oil dilution with the 1.5 is what always worried me this will be my fourth honda at 46 yrs old.
Congrats! Sorry to hear about your dilema. Hopefully should be a quick fix.
I purchased a certified pre owned Civic EX sedan here in January 2023. It only had 18,000 miles. The Civic sport sedan was very tempting. Kind of wish I had chosen that one. Well hopefully mine with the 1.5 turbo will be reliable.
Best of luck with it

you'll be fine. Honda has a reputation to maintain.
@azaels911 it was great. Had no issues. Traded it for a 24 Sport Touring Hatchback 6MT in February this year.
Appreciate all the information in this vid 👍
Thanks for watching. I appoligize for the cutting in and out towards the end, background noise wasn’t cooperating.
I LOVE the look of the integra. I drove one about 30 min to a country club for a Honda event. It drives amazing, tech package was awesome, interior build quality was top notch.
However….I want worry free ownership and longevity. May have to buy the 2.0 civic sport hatchback! Absolutely love it too. And can run it on regular gasoline.
Gonna be a tough choice even tho it’s $27k vs $37k lol
Yeah honestly I’d take the civic. It’s a better buy for sure even tho it’s more vanilla.
I have a 22 EX 1.5T that has an intermittent shudder around 1.5-2k when rolling to a stop. Seems to come from the engine, rotors and brakes were fine at my most recent maintenance. 26k on the odometer. Any thoughts on what this could be?
No, bring it in, see if they can capture something on a snap shot
I have a 22 Civic LX ~18k miles. So far only issue I had is the ambient light sensor for auto headlights malfunctioning. It turns on high beams when it shouldn't. (at dusk or sort of low light.) I adjusted the light sensitivity in the dash settings to "low" but didn't change anything. I have auto highbeam off atm. Planning to take it to the dealership soon as it is still under warranty.
Yeah I turned that off on my tlx, it’s annoying and way too sensitive.
Glad I got the Sport with 2L. Do you know how to resolve the Bluetooth connectivity problems for Android?
Never ending connectivity issues with Honda and Apple/android especially when a new version of iOS/android is released. Try to forget both devices on car and phone and re pair see if it helps.
Great video as always👍Do you think its worth waiting for the 2.0L Hybrid Civic?
Thanks! Honestly I’m not on the hybrid bandwagon so I’m going to be biased. They do seem reliable thus far tho.
I'm kinda digging the look of the new HRV
It’s dope. Neighbor just got one. Same size as 3rd gen Crv lol.
@@BCautosolutions I was planning on getting a Boost Blue Pearl Civic Sport Hatchback, but now looking at getting an Urban Grey Pearl HR-V Sport FWD. I've in Honolulu. HI so don't need the FWD, the sbout 1 second slower acceleration speeds and extra $1500 and potential more maintenance cost diwn the road. With selected OEM and aftermarket accessories, nice legal smoke tint windows, a Rockford Punch 600 watt amp, Punch Dpeakers and msybe a powered subwoofer, it would be pretty nice.
K-Tuner has a hop up kit for the Civic N/A 2.0L engine to bring it up to non Si 1.5L turbo engine power and torque. If the tweak and Cali rate it for the HR-V Sport, you would have the extra power on demand without the turbo related problems. That was the number one complaint by people, as not having enough power, often without even driving it. Just like the suspension and steering on the Sport is lighter than the Civic, because most buyers eould want more comfort in the HR-V as opposed to a Civic. But aftermarket companies like Eibach could come out with stiffer springs and sway bars for better handling.
Another big plus for the new HR-V. No auto start/stop feature. Yay!
@@jjacob25101 hrv is a great car and by far Hondas most maintence friendly car. My ONLY gripe with it is the lack of power. Luckily the upside of that is there in minimal wear and tear. I think the hrv is a great car.
@@BCautosolutions The previous HR-V was good, but it was a bigger Fit. The main problem was that it was underpowered. At least the Sport should have had the 2.0L. Now it does. To me it's adequate for what it is. All these keyboards warriors seem to think everything has to have a lot of power. This is not a Civic. It's an compact SUV with lots of improvements. Remember, even the previous performance version of the Corolla and Civic were sbout 130 horsepower or less before that.
People don't understand the perspective of a car company. They primarily mske transportation conveyances, and want to make some profit. The rest is secondary, though they would lije to come out with vehicles people woukd lije, ut realistically, it would cost a lot more to put all they want in it, or certain things at initial launch.
I know exactly what I would do to make a performance HR-V, but it's not gonna happen, because it would overshadow the Civic Si.
Basically, I would start withba Civic Sport Touring Hatchback type upgrades to the Sport in AWD with similar Suspension, brake and drivetrain upgrades from the Si, with the LSD, but put in the detuned Type R 2.0L Turbo engine to get about 260-280 horsepower. That would be way more than enough without encroaching into Type R territory from the factory.
Thank you for This videos
For sure. I will be doing videos just like this one one every new model
I have a new ‘23 civic sport touring hatch, 6MT. Thought I was for sure gonna get a 2.0L model for reliability, but last second went for the 1.5T to have a little more fun. Hope I don’t regret that! The only issue I’ve had so far is with the a/c. It never worked, taking it into the dealership tomorrow to check it out. Anyone else reporting this issue?
23 civic haven’t seen any ac issues. If I had to guess would say condenser, it was a thing witch previous generation it’s possible the issue carried over.
23 exl hatchback. Just took my car to the dealership. The motor is bad. Good thing is under warranty
Thanks for this video. My lease on my 2020 Civic Sport Hatchback is ending next March so I'm starting to explore options for what's next. I really want to stick with a manual transmission, so my options are limited. I'm thinking to perhaps just buy my current car at the end of the lease given the crazy market with low inventory inflated prices all over for the 2022 Civic Sport Hatchback MT, Sport Touring MT, and Si. At the same time, given my life circumstances, leasing is a good option right now to keep more cash around and also since I may want/need a different type of car in a few years. What are your thoughts or suggestions on whether to stick with my current car or jump into a new lease? If a new lease, which car would you recommend? Do you think waiting for the 2023s will help with avoiding some of the issues? Thanks in advance!
The 2023 model will have most kinks worked out by then with the exception of the 1.5t potential/probably head gasket failures long term. That won’t change ever because it’s simply a design flaw imo. With how everything is I would say buy your car out and get the extended warranty (Honda care) none of the aftermarket ones. Hope this helps.
@@BCautosolutions This definitely helps, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be buying the car out. How much can I expect to pay for the Honda Care warranty? Should I work with a dealership to purchase that?
One additional question: my front left bumper lip/splitter is detached and the plastic is cracked in places (I think this happened when someone hit me while parking or pulling out) - is this easy enough to fix myself with aftermarket parts or should I take it to a shop?
I went online and got Honda care warranty quotes. There are several dealers that will send it to your email. In my experience they are a lot cheaper than the dealership you purchase the car from.
@@reginaalear 💯 and that’s a great tip. Salesmen tend to take advantage of those up charges .
@@BCautosolutions my dealer wanted 2,800 for a third party warranty. I was able to find HondaCare online for half of that and 0 deductible. They wanted $100 for the third party one.
the radio in my 22 civic sport is lagging. Every time i would try to record with the music on, it just stop, make a pitch noise then lower the music internally even when the volume is 40. Does anyone have the same problems?
Sounds like it needs a new unit. Take it to your local Honda dealer to get looked at
How about the Honda Accord 2.0t? Actually getting my first car and I’m deciding between the 2.0t and the civic 2.0 non turbo engine. I want something reliable that’ll last a while with minimal issues. How are Hondas hybrids as well don’t those use CVT Engines ?
Either 2.0s are fine. The 2.0t will be a lot more powerful and non comparable to the civic 2.0 na. I would personally get the accord 2.0t just becuase I like the pep, but for fuel economy deff the civic.
The 2.0 Civic gets pretty terrible MPG from my experience of regular highway miles. I get about 32.9mpg so about 33mpg highway. The 10th gen under the same driving situations and the same 2.0 engine can reach 36mpg. The 2.0t Accord my friend has gets very similar gas milage to my 11th gen Civic with the 2.0. Also, the Accord is a much more fun car, but you pay a lot more for it.
@@journeytree My 10th gen with 6MT get about 36mpg if I'm pushing around 80mph. At 50mph (country highways) I can get 50mpg. I'm surprised 11th Gen isn't doing the same.
my right door in my 22 sport already rattles when i play music. either the speaker or something loose

what can you say about the 1.5t that has the camshaft sensor A. intermittent interuption
Nothing, haven’t ran across that issue myself, if and when I do, I’ll have a better assessment
An update on the turbo issues? Are you seeing these on the 23s too? I'm waiting for the hybrid.
We don’t see an alarming rate of turbo failures but we do see some. No turbos yet on the 23s

I got my 2022 civic hatchback ex l (1.5t) almost a year ago and I still love it. I always get compliments on it. Especially since I did all around 5 percent tint and 20 on the windshield. And I’m always mobbing in that little car.

It still has oil dilution problem for the 1.5t? I watched a video on 2022 crv 1.5 and the owner said still has oil dilution issue.
It’s all on your driving habits. Oil dilution isn’t isolated to the 1.5t or just Honda.
So glad I've got a deposit on a Sport with the NA 2.0. I like my cars simple, haven't owned a turbo yet.
Yep. Will outlast the 1.5t 2 times over
Turbos only have a life span of 75k miles anyway. Superchargers are better to maintenance and fix overall
@@belovedLion80 this is false. We have plenty of these engines on original turbo with 150k+ now the head gaskets are a completely different story. Very very few turbo failures. Slight increase lately on higher mileage ones but nowhere near 75k

A lot of 22 civics are getting Sticky steering issues. Just got it hit 37k miles and out of warranty. Reported it to NHTSA hoping Honda will own up to it since so many civics have this issue and it has gotten national media attention.

Thanks for the information! I'm torn between the 1.5T 2022 Civic and the 2022 Jetta. The 2.0L Civic is way too slow for my liking.
Hey thanks for watching! Yeah it’s a bummer they didn’t give it another 20hp or slow and just give it a little more pep becuase it’s a great engine the 2.0 that is. The 1.5t vs Jetta is a tough choice although setting aside the headgakset probable issue I think overall the civic should be/is the more reliable car and cheaper to afford long term. Unless if your leasing then it shouldn’t really matter and go for whichever you like better aesthetically.
@@BCautosolutions I test drove both. The new Jetta is quieter and the trim I drove felt more solid than the Touring 2022 Civic. The Civic has a nicer looking interior and a better infotainment system. Both cars are maybe 2 seconds or slightly more faster than the 2.0L Civic doing 0 to 60.

Does hpd kit helps with anything else than thr awesome looks
HPD kit is cheap stick on plastic parts, save your money
People having issues also with the power steering sticking. Have you encountered these lately. Thanks
I have not although that particular issue is being looked into.
My 2022 Civic camera LKAS system will constantly pull the car pretty hard to the right and then the Lane Departure system will shake the steering wheel as the car is trying to pull itself out of the lane. Basically renders the entire system useless as it's harder to fight the LKAS system to keep the car centered than it is to just drive regularly. The LKAS system gets so close (often goes completely over the lane lines into the right lane) to the right lane line that many times, I would sideswipe a vehicle if I do not constantly apply a decent amount of pressure on the steering wheel to steer to the left. I do a lot of highway driving so this is a large problem to me. I informed my Honda Dealership about this issue and they test drove the car. The mechanic came to the same conclusion, but did not recalibrate or replace the camera. Instead, they told me the car is supposed to pull to the right. I have experience with several Hondas including the last generation LKAS system, and none have ever pulled out of the lane like the 2022 Civic I have does. While yes, ping pong is mostly gone in the new system, the forced lane departure is much worse. Also, I noticed that the climate control which goes from "LO" to "HI" operates strangely. From Lo to about 85, cold air usually comes out of the vents. At 86, slightly warmer air comes out, and at Hi, very hot air comes out. I would have figured there would be more of a mix in temperature instead of going from cold air to very hot with just one increase on the control. To sum the last part up, I can never find a comfortable temperature on the 2022 Civic climate control, but rather have to keep switching between cold and hot or adjust the fan speed to utilize the sun to heat my car through the windows and use low fan speed ac to cool it to a comfortable temperature.
Yeah I do like the lane keep assist at all and find it rather annoying and turn them off on all my Hondas/acuras. It’s not a perfect system but if you feel there is an issue still, take it to another dealer for a second opinion. The hvac system also isn’t perfect and like you I have never found an ideal temp setting.
I have the pulling to the right issue as well ex model
@@BCautosolutions Yeah the system is not perfect but the last generation LKAS system did not operate like this. I've used the older system on several different vehicles and never had the car turn itself out of the lane. I definitely will check with another dealership.
@@sopechuong how many miles? Was this from day one? Any accidents?
@@BCautosolutionsThis has been an issue the day I drove it off the lot. Still occurring over 2 years after I bought the car. I see there is now a recall for my car, I'm wondering if that might have something to do with the LKAS errors.
A crap ton of NHTSA complaints related to the steering are starting to pile up on the 2022 civic model. People as staying the steering wheels are sticking at highway speeds. Have you heard about this?
None have come through my dealer but I have read up on it. As soon as I have something I’ll report it.
I recently bought civic hatchback sport 2023 with 1.5 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder. 1st week was fine. Now I'm in my 2nd my week, I gave my car to Honda dealership for dashcam (front & rear) installation. They took about 4-5 hours for that. Since the release after installation, my car feels funny when I drive. Doesn't sound premium. It suddenly started making slight noise when I push throttle and try to catch up the speed. I thought I was being paranoid, perhaps it's because turbo engine usually makes noise but Before, the cabin used to be quieter, I'd barely hear any noise but now it feels like engine is trying harder to reach to that speed.
I want to know if this is how it's supposed to be or is there really a problem?
Also, I feel like if I go back to dealership, they're gonna ruin it more, but so will private mechanics plus they would charge hefty amount. I feel like I'm trapped man.
Go to the dealer and ask them to drive another one same year, trim, tires, etc.
@@BCautosolutions like test drive the same model? Idk if they’ll let me . What should I be telling them?

Hey, for the 1.5t have you seen anything on oil dilution on these? Supposedly Honda fixed the issues but just curious
Yeah it’s not an issue. By design do engines all dilute although people will never ever see unacceptable dilution levels. What I would worry about and will affect a lot more people would be premature head gasket failure.
@@BCautosolutions would the premature head gasket failure be caused by the DI and the turbo causing too much pressure?
@@sk8terdude013 I believe it’s a combination of low octane (causing detonation and increasing chamber pressures) along with very thin/weak head bolts.
@@BCautosolutions thank you so much for your insight. Definitely a very knowledgeable guy 🙏
@@sk8terdude013 thanks for watching.
I put a deposit down for the sport trim a few weeks back. Been back and fourth watching tons of videos on whether to get the sport or the EX. I’m buying the car. Figured the EX with the turbo would be nice but after seeing this video I’m a little hesitant.
I’d also like to note I live South FL
@@ReiCecilio yeah so I think long term (since your buying) the ex turbo model will be more costly and well and have more downtime in the shop. I should note that the rodent issue seems to be primary up north in the colder months but the headgasket issue seems to appear all year round. Now some dealers are reporting that they aren’t seeing any headgakset failures (I think they are just going undetected imo) but they are 100% failing at an abnormal rate. If I was you with an unbiased opinion as a consumer I would go for the 2.0 engine just based off what I know. The 1.5t tq and power is nice but comes with too many long term problems. Hope this helps.
It’s unfortunate to hear this because you’d think Honda would’ve had this squared away considering the 2023 have to be coming out soon no? Either way thanks for the feedback and thanks for taking the time to post this on YT. I don’t see many others which (should be a good thing). Although the power would be nice I think the headache and my pockets would feel better going with the sport. Even thought about the Si but for the money with the way the market is and I know this could happen to those as well I think the sport is the safer route. Thank you!
Btw anything else I should be aware of before buying? Car probably won’t be ready for another month or so
@@ReiCecilio that’s about it, car is relatively new so any long term issues (if any) won’t be known until a few more years go by.
Hello, would you recommend getting a ‘22 civic sport hatchback 2.0 NA, ‘22 sport touring 1.5t, or a 10th gen 2.0 or 1.5t? I heard the 10th gen 1.5t have oil dilution problems and they suggest using a particular oil.
I wouldn’t worry about oil dilution on the 1.5t. What I would worry about is injector and head gasket failures. With that said I would still personally get the 1.5t over the 2.0 but you run more risks of higher maintenance costs/issues long term. If that’s not something you want to deal with, then the 2.0 is for you 👍🏻
I got the 23 sport 2.0 and I’ll tell you it’s definitely quick enough to get up and going. Usually CVT’s will have a “lag” but this one doesn’t. I pass people with ease on the highway

When I found out that Honda was still making Civics with the K20 and 6MT I had to have one. I keep vehicles for a long time and i wouldn't even consider owning a 1.5t equipped car. The K20C2 on the other hand has been made for 8 years at least and is a solid engine. The 6MT is great and lots of fun.

Ok, 2.0L naturally aspirated engine it is. It’s crazy how the 1.5L turbos have more problems than the 2.0L turbo… especially since Honda uses this engine as their workhorse for most of their vehicles.

Very noticeable fuel economy improvement with the Turbo. I often use 91 or 93 octane fuel.
There was an oil dilution problem in 2017-2018 but that is not an issue with my 1.5T, I have 75K on it now. Also, the 1.5T was available in 2016 on the Touring model only so it’s worth the wait to just get the trim you want. Don’t worry all these car technologies will eventually become standard. There was a time when power windows were a luxury feature, air conditioning too.
I know a lot of people like the non-aspirated engines but if you live in a cold climate it sure is nice how quickly they warm up. It takes me about 3 minutes in very cold weather for the car to warm up, my 2.4L took about 8-10 minutes on a cold day.
Best feature ever… I only need 10 minutes to get to work and now you can use remote start if you want, or just drive and you’re able to use the heater…. There’s nothing like it… the heated seats and steering wheel comes in handy too

The 2.0 Liters of Honda Civic has less moving parts, that why it has less problems and more reliable than 1.5 liters with turbo in either Honda Civic or Accord.
The 2.0 is naturally aspirated. By default will always have less issues.

Planning to buy a 2023 Honda Civic Sport touring, and with it being new not to worried about it. If it becomes a larger issue, Honda will recall it anyways. But always good to know of the issues beforehand. I will add, to anyone buying a Si or any of the 1.5t thinking they are going to mod the heck out of these Civic's. Please don't do it!!! The L15 is a economy engine which isn't really built correctly to turn out 250HP+ performance. There are tons of video's of folks modifying these 11th gens and blowing head gaskets and all. Just save up and buy a K20c engine car, like a 2.0t Accord or Type-R (if you can swing the $40k). The L15 cannot handle the added power like the K20C's can. So save your self the heart ache. Even the 10th Gen civics' are know to not handle modifying much. Just remember this is a nice $30k car that can get 40 MPG, and has a little pep. The stock L15 internals' are not built to handle more power then maybe a light tune and a few bolt-ons, and in some cases that is pushing it.
