A couple months down the line and I'm still extremely happy I got this vehicle as well. Sometimes I wish it had a bit more oomph, but that's me being greedy. I've only ever truly wanted something I can trust to get me from A to B, every day for a long time. I had an interest in the model, did some research on it and found your videos and bought the vehicle because of how much you lauded the reliability of the vehicle. And as they say, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

All the reasons you stated regarding reliability and the future of the K20C2 engine made me pounce on the opportunity to upgrade (I could see the handwriting on the wall with the hybrid coming). I bought this car in white because of your videos. I like it better than the Jetta it replaced.
It might be the last MT car that I can buy. The day of MT or even gas engine might not be available in a decade. I don't think the 2025 will have the an MT option.
2 dealers told me they don't order MT because " nobody wants them". But when the do accept one, they sell immediately because they are so hard to find. An oxymoron since they don't last on the lot upon arrival.

I also bookmarked local Honda dealer sites, but some of them don't have proper filters for manual transmission, so those wouldn't be as useful. I tracked them as they came and went, just to see how long they take to sell, with VIN and color. I wasn't going to get anything but white, and I was in no hurry as long as 2024 model year is still alive. If nothing worked out until maybe July or so, I would've contacted a dealer to see if I can order one.

I've had my 2024 Hybrid Hatch in the Advance Spec for about 6 weeks now, With a whole load of toys, It's great, I'm driving it normally and getting around 51mpg. The Bose sound system is perfect. The only thing that's annoying is all the safety prompts alerting you all of you speeding, going over the white lines and freaking out when you are overtaking cyclists/ center line on the road. In Eco mode it tends to want to go into EV mode quite often, meaning you're saving money. Mines in Sonic Grey as well, I watched you video on fitting the rear spoiler and also fitted one using your video, I went for Berlinetta Black as this matches the black theme around the car and gives the rear more contrast. I bought it from Cox Honda online and fitted it meticulously myself.
The heated Steering wheel is an awesome feature that my favorite comfort in the car, it's that good.
I also watched your video on corrosion from the rear suspension bushes and arms- I've spent a lot of time protecting my Civic. I've completely coated the underside and removed all four wheel arch liners and coated theses areas with the best underseal that money can buy- Bilt Hamber Dynax SC50 and Dynax UC for all the areas underneath that are slightly visible, SC50 for everything else.
The entire front end, including headlamps, 'A' pillars, lower sides and front section of the roof and loading area, Not to mention the 'B' and 'C' pillar gloss black trim that can get really swirled up with scratches has been protected with PPF using Xpel PPF. Ceramic coated the PPF with Gtechniq Halo V2. The entire rest of the car including ALL the plastics have been ceramic coated in Carpro Dquartz Go. Interior has been ceramic coated with DIY Detail Interior Ceramic, The leather seats and Steering wheel has been protected with Gtechniq Leather Guard. All the glass has been treated to Soft 99 Ultra Glaco.
I've bought the best products for the car as its only a small amount more to buy thee best. I also highly recommend Gtechniq Ceramic sealant C2 version 3 as a 6 month protection that's super easy to apply after a couple of weeks when the Ceramic coatings have cured. The Sonic grey looks better then day one when it was picked up new. 264 miles in and nothing to say other then the rear spoiler I fitted hasn't bonded very well for some reason. But it's very very secure. The only area that's troubling is just in one place on the left inner section by the left corner of the glass window. So far so good. 🙌

Also I have now been able to activate Android auto wirelessly now, there is a back door setting that takes you to a secret screen that enables you to turn this feature on. Have a look on CZcams and there a couple of videos that show you how to do it. It involves holding 3 display buttons down when switching the ignition on. You'll need to wait 24hours and unpair your phone and reactivate your Bluetooth connection

Great video. I enjoyed all the ones I have seen from you. I forgot who posted the vudeos with the found solution for the water leak on the hatch. The spoiler you have looks better that the other one offered as OEM. And yes, I prefer this engine for the reliability and longevity. Even Scotty Kilmer stayed hevwould take this engine over the 1.5L turbo anyday. I originally wanted one of these in Boost Blue Pearl or Sonic Grey Pearl, snd I see quite a few here in Honolulu, but I decided that I am going to get an Urban Grey Pearl HR-V Sport. It will be just under $30K with all the OEM accessories I want, before the stealership scalping fee. I have a number of add ons I plan to put on it, but probably few performance mods, exceot fir msybe the Pedal Commander later, a K&N air filter replacement and maybe get slightly lowered stiffer Eibach coil springs if I feel it has too much body roll, but probably not.
Most if the rest of add on accesories would be customization or things like a dash cam and easily installed energency lights.
The most exoensive upgrade will probably be Rockford Fosgate
Punch stock lostion repacement speakers and a 4x100 watt amp. I may not even need a subwoofer.

I bought the 2024 EX turbo with CVT. I actually love how smooth and quietly it accelerates so very happy with the turbo/CVT. Its got plenty of pep to get up to speed too. Shifting again would be cool and noticed how smooth your car shifted in the video but in congested areas where I live not so much fun. Interior feels and looks well built and not cheap. Heating doesn't seem to hit the feet too well so my feet stay cold while rest heats up(minor). At first was angry at the lane assist but have learned how to use it with cruise control and its great on long trips but not totally reliable on semi sharp turns. I had the leak in the hatch but it seems to have gone away(got to check again though as haven't checked in awhile). When I shut the trunk I just give it extra ump in closing and haven't seen it again. The 2 biggest issues to me are the stereo(get the bose!) and the road noise - atrocious. Kind of upset hearing they're fixing the road noise for 2025 cause I'd enjoy the car significantly more with less road noise but still feel I made a very good choice. pd 29k, getting about 37mpg. Good luck with you Civic!

I purchased a 2024 Sport manual because of your videos and am glad I waited a month for it. I wanted the power of the turbo but the responsible adult in me knew the 2.0 would be the best choice. I’m getting 42mpg at 70mph and 33mpg in the city. I installed the resonator plugs you sold me and am very happy with the sound now! Only issue I’ve had is the drivers door takes extra force to close so I’ll be taking it to the dealer next week to adjust it. The fit and finish is fantastic and am very very happy with this vehicle. It has plenty of power, loads of space and damn it looks good!

I got my 2019 2.0t accord for 27,500 for a steal during covid. its an insane highway cruiser at 30mpg doing 80-90mph lol... Everyday the car makes me smile.

I finally got my 2024 Civic Sport Hatch 2.0 MT6 two days ago. $27,900-$1,600+$499+tax+reg/fee. Had to get it from a further away dealer because walkable-distance-dealer don't ever seem to get MT.
Dealer let me go with tires at 43psi (should be 33/32), and they didn't install the body plugs, even though it's checked in the PDI list.
Heck, they didn't even leave the plugs for me to install, and when I contacted them to mail them to me, they said they need me to bring the car in.
Drive an hour to get four rubber plugs? Are they f'n insane? I'm just going to a closer dealer to buy them. This is why I hold off on writing reviews.
I don't think the "technician" doing the PDI even read the thing. Steering wheel is slightly off center when the car is going straight. Driver side seatbelt adjuster buzzes.
Compared to my '19 Fit EX, Civic is too high class. Fit feels like a 90's budget car, raw and clanky. I actually kind of like that!
Civic engine is too quiet. Even less engine braking than the Fit (L15B1). Transmission is way tighter though, so it's easier to drive than the Fit.
Fit transmission is made in Philippines. Civic transmission is made in India.
This latest Honda-Sensing is no match for even the 2015 EyeSight. It's terrible at temporally tracking distances and it reacts like a lousy driver when stuff happens, like someone merging in front of me. EyeSight behaves way more like a good driver. 2024 WRX would be a much better car from that perspective.
I'm planning to swap the wheels/tires with Enkei RPF01 16x7 with 215/55R16. Yes, that is the same size as LX wheels. I like rubber. I'm going to sell the original wheels & tires. Waste of space.
Remember, I barely put 7,700 miles on the Fit in 5 years. I absolutely didn't need the Civic. I only bought it because I was afraid it may be the last chance to get a new non-DI, non-Turbo, MT car.
It's literally just another burden for me to store, drive, and maintain, as I don't even drive the Fit that much. You don't need to tell me I'm crazy, because I know.

I've had the pleasure of driving a 2024 and I will be picking mine up soon. I can tell you that engine braking on this car is substantially more than the engine braking on the D15 Civic that I have and very comparable to the K24 9th gen I once had. I think you will be disappointed trying to increase the engine braking through tuning, but I can't fault you for trying. I think the reason you're used to cars with more engine braking has a ton do with the power steering system. Electric power steering has much less resistance than hydraulic. I do think the notion that off throttle in 6th feels like neutral is overblown. There is a stark difference. I have a hill in my area I can go from 65mph to 74 over the course of a mile down in neutral but in 6th off throttle it gradually drops off from 65 to 60.
My biggest complaint with this car is the oversized 18 inch wheels and the related oversized turning radius that comes with it. The gap between the inside of the wheels and brake discs is ridiculous. I might look into getting some 16 or 17 inch wheels down the line and downsizing from 235 rubber to 215. I would go down to 15 inch wheels but I'm afraid the brakes might not clear. I'm overall impressed with the car though. On paper I thought 6th gear would have been a bit too short but in reality it's perfectly fine. I do wish 2nd and 3rd were a bit shorter though. I really liked the gearing of the 9th gen Si where 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were really tight and then the rest of the gears spaced out in a really gradual but progressive way. Only issue with the 9th gen Si gearing is that the overall gearing was just too short. (should have gotten the 4.39 rather than the 4.76 final drive)
My favorite thing about the car other than the simplicity of the drivetrain is the insane handling. It corners like it's on rails compared to anything I've ever driven and still has a fantastic ride.

Check out my video on pedal commander, I show in detail with data how Honda has the throttle body programmed to stay open when off the throttle at higher RPMs , this allows less vacuum through the intake manifold and as a direct result, less engine braking. My old 2007 civic Si was electric power steering, my 2002 s2000 is electric steering, that has little to do with it . Honda does this to be more fuel efficient which is great and a smart move on their part, but if you want to have full control of the car and have it respond like a NA engine should when driving manual, that throttle body should close all the way when you let off

I don't think this is a bad car at all. They did a good job with the Civic platform and the hatchback gives you more space in the same car. My friend has one, it is a solid daily commuter car, if he has some bigger weekend trips where he and his wife pack a bunch of stuff into it, the trunk has the room. It gets good gas mileage, the manual transmission is good enough for its price, the interior cabin space is good and it is very unique in its segment, only the Mazda 3 hatch compares but these two are very different in terms of size and the Golf GTI is just not a contender here due to its interior and lack of physical buttons. The Jetta GLI would be a better comparison but it is not a hatchback to it doesn't compare either. My friend was interested in all of these but ultimately chose the Civic because it is physically larger and afford so much more room and he had no interest in going for something like an A4 allroad because it just isn't worth the money brand new. The Civic saved him so much money upfront and continues to save him money as where he lives the insurance is very low.

The only other port injected N/A manual car you can still get for 2024, is a Nissan versa 5 speed manual. MSRP 16,680. The thing is that Nissan engineers could not leave the true and tried conventional port injection system they had been using in that 1.6L engine as is and added an additional injector per cylinder.
I drove my brother's 2012 bare bones 5 speed versa new off the lot back in 2012 and the reality the 5 speed MT in that car new was much smoother than my current 6MT on my 2024 Civic sport hatch.
The synchros in my 2024 civic hatch 2.0L N/A were designed in such a way that if you shit at lower RPMs (2K to 2.5K RPMs) they tend to bump into the gear and not smoothly mesh when shifting. I did switched the transmission oil to AC delco friction modified but it made only a slight difference. The bumping synchros tend to happen less if I shift above 3K RPMs.

I've driven several manuals throughout the years, including 90s Honda civics, Toyota yaris, and even my first car a POS 1995 salvage tittle VW Jetta, and I don't remember a Manual being as rough with the bad designed synchros as this one. The fact thay my car is new with under 4K miles says a lot about Hondas 6MT quality these days.
If I ever find a new 2024 Nissan versa 5 speed manual I'll think about trading it in.

@abraham3981 it's been a thing since the 90s I think. My 05 RSX Type S has some resistance into second, usually when it is cold. I have heard the more modern Type Rs suffer from this too.

@@Save_the_Stick_Shifts Yes, I will be switching the transmission fluid again in the near future to Redline MTL and hoping for a slight improvement. After this experience, I will no longer be a Honda customer.

It’s a great car, I got the sport touring because that’s what was available and I love the features and the torque but I wish I didn’t feel the need to baby the engine so much, I don’t think the k20 needs to be babied

Dealer that my friend works for on Long Island had one listed for $30k ($5k markup) on a manual sport hatch and they said they wouldn't go any lower. You said there is no other manuals in the price range, but that is not true, I ended up buying a 6 speed Jetta sport for the msrp of $24k, a year ago now. while there is some difference in looks and material quality, i was shocked to find the jetta with the new 1.5t was mor enjoyable to drive in my opinion, as well as more powerful and more fuel efficient. I feel like nobody talks about the jettas unless its a GLI and thats a shame because the sport trim level for its low price is a great option, and I have never had a single issue with mine.

That dealer is out of their mind then. They may start marking them up now with Hondas latest leaked info. No more manuals in the regular civics next year, buckle up!

What car seats do you have? And are they forward facing? I am shopping for a convertible car seat with this car and I have concerns about it forward facing with the fixed headrests. Have you had any issues with that? My daughter will be rear facing for another year but want to get one that works well forward facing. Thanks!

I have not even thought about the fixed headrests to be honest, both my kids are still rear facing. We use britax 1 for life seats now. When they are flipped to front facing though, I’d be surprised if the rear ancor strap didn’t sinch down tight enough to make the seat sit at the proper angle, the heat rests arnt super hard. But very interested to try it out now that you mentioned that

I think the rattle in the right side of the dash is some sort of unfixable design flaw. I have a 2024 manual Integra, and when it's cold I have the same rattle in the same place as you. Regarding the gasket issues, I think that it is a general Honda problem not a 1.5t engine problem. You yourself leaky gasket on your new 2.0 engine. Back in around 2002 my 1997 Civic LX's gasket started leaking and my 2014 2.4L Accord also had the same issue. In all cases it was pretty easy to replace the gaskets, but it still happened to all of them. I'm sure my new Integra will have the same issue. Oh, I forgot to mention that my best friend's S2000 eventually also had to get the gaskets replaced. Important to note that I treat my cars as if they were made of glass and keep up with all the maintenance.

The 1.5T has head gasket issues. The 2.0 has valve cover gasket issues. One is far more catastrophic than the other !

What do you think about the mazda3 manual? I like the interior of the mazda3 a lot but the civic has such a stylish exterior.

Mazda 3 manual was a few thousand more and is direct injection. Not that it’s unreliable , but this car seemed simpler to me and had much more Interior and cargo room for a cheaper price

Very good point A to B car. Just way too underpowered for my liking. Almost 9 seconds to 60 is just too slow and I like to have a little fun every now and then.

What happened to your 8th gen?! I commented on one of your videos a while back about interest in this car while also coming from an FA1. I ended up getting an FL5 in January, while still driving the FA1!
