    You're suppose to remove the pins and clean them and also clean the holes they ride in and add the tiniest amount of lube. That amount it had was way to much! It actually creates a vacuum inside the mounting hole. Brake pad life would probably be extended if you cleaned and lubed them right.

    Thanks for the video brother but I think you've misread the torque specs in the service manual and that'll throw a lot of folks off - Gen 2/D40: Caliper Bracket ("member"): 136 ft lb (185NM); Caliper bolts: 20 ft lb (26.48NM); Wheel lugs are correct @ 98 ft lbs. Nissan Factory Service Manual lists 3 x torque specs for each critical fastener, the LAST number in parenthesis is either ft lbs or in. lbs; depending on color of wrench icon. In this case it's listing ft lbs. If folks re-use the caliper bracket bolts (19mm) they could end up w/a sheared bolt @ 185 ft lbs.

      What’s your brake fluid look like? Dirty? Full? clean? Empty?
      I sometimes do a break bleed when I change out breaks which helps remove air bubbles and gets some of the older fluid out.

      Try penetrating oil and leave it on over night. That helps a lot. Are you up North in the Rust Belt?

    • @jeffd3844
      @jeffd3844 Před rokem +1

      It wouldn't hurt to give penetrating oil a try. If that doesn't do the trick, here is what I would do: Assuming you don't have a big impact gun, get yourself or borrow a long 1/2" drive breaker bar, at least 18", or preferably 24". Be sure to use a 6-point socket and be sure to keep it fully seated on the bolt head. Last thing you want to do is round off the bolt head. Let us know how it works out.

    • @MCFIXIT
      @MCFIXIT  Před rokem +1

      I have never experience it do that before when changing out brakes. Changing your brakes should have nothing to do with your traction control light. They are not part of that system. There should be a speed sensor behind your wheel hub which could be giving you a light, but you should not have been messing with that doing brakes and rotors. I do know sometimes on Nissans they do pop up at random times. Is it flashing? Or is it a solid light?

    • @MCFIXIT
      @MCFIXIT  Před rokem +2

      Spongy brakes. This helps bleed air out of line. While you did not open the brake system with changing pads & rotors, air is in the system and can easily be bleed at this time

    Is thr torque ranch necessary? What if I don't have one?

    • @MCFIXIT
      @MCFIXIT  Před 11 měsíci +2

      I would suggest doing it. That’s the specs to ensure your brakes work properly. Without the correct amount of torque things can come lose or too much torque means you can strip bolts or nuts easily. The amount you save by doing it yourself is well worth getting at least a middle grade torque wrench. It has a lot of applications for vehicle repairs.

    There is one thing incorrect. It is easy to think you have the rotor on the correct side because of the way the groves are pointing. According to my research you actually have the rotors on the incorrect side of the vehicle. Look up correct installation of rotors with groves.
