- Hi Guys,
In this video, I show you that maintaining a motorcycle won't make you bankrupt. I bought a BMW F 650 GS from 2001, and it's NOT running. Pretty scary to buy it without any evidence that it will work. During this 4th part, I show you what's wrong with the rear spring, and how to disconnect/replace it.
Table of content:
00:00 - Intro
00:09 - Explanation of what to disconnect
01:22 - Timelapse taking off parts
02:33 - Short review about the disassembling

04:14 - Putting the 2nd hand rear shock in place
04:32 - Regreasing the LINK system

See ya!
Please consider leaving links to where you get the parts. Sourcing old parts for a good price is getting difficult these days. Great videos. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks for your videos, I ride a 2005 f650gs in Australa, its great to see it all fit back together !!
Thanks NIC, great bike, ride safe!
Nice video haven’t seen many videos this thorough will definitely safe for later thanks man
Awesome to read! Thank you 🤙🏻
Awsome. Very interesting.
Thank you for the well explanation and making the videos. Are you going to upload more on this bike or model? I am considering to undo the lowering done to mine and this requires the change of rear and front shocks. Would you know any information source on this? Thanks!
Lovely
thank you Ive a 2009 g65gs which I did as you , great bike
Great to hear, thanks for your support🔧⚙️⛽. Don't forget to subscribe.👌🏻
You Didn't paint that rear shock spring Yellow,........ before you mounted it .........?!? Whyever Not?
Useful information. Thank you for sharing. How does the catalytic converter connect to the main silencer?
Hi G58, this connects via a pipe under the seat, towards the end of both. Let's say, behind the rear brake light.
@@carbservice666 Cool. Thank you. Have checked the parts illustrations now too. That’s a lot of extra weight just to comply with emissions legislation. Is it easy to fit an aftermarket silencer instead?
With what kind of brand did you replace the original? And what were your considerations not to just service the original as new at for instance HK suspension?
It's been replaced with a very nice original one, that drove 15k kms. The engine seised on that one so someone parted it out. Mine had 2 years of corrosion/salt on it, what didn't move anymore. Someone put it away mid winter and left the salt on 😱.
@@carbservice666 Aha. Have a look at this vid when you have time: czcams.com/video/lgS_4A0PZCQ/video.html Might interest you.
Hi Bro.
I have Dakar F650GS and I'm looking for the starter.
Please advise
I've been owning 650gs 2000 , 36000Km mileage.
Hope you can enjoy it!
It's a lovely machine. Sold it, on to the next adventure.
Parts 5?
You didn't replace the chain 😱 wwhhhhaaaattt. Was that done later?
I did replace the chain, bought a good 2nd hand one, with the dealer where I got all the 2nd hand parts. In the end, i've sold the motor, it's time for a new project.
ketting nog even smeren😏
Still haven't replaced the chain???
And where's the next issue #5 ?
#5 is not coming, I sold the bike short after part 4. The next owner is going to drive TET days in northen of belgium/france with it, he is taking over the project.
lol just bought one same color running with 9000 klm
Awesome, enjoy the ride!
Why do you keep that Silly catalytic converter can on the bike .......? Get a decent exhaust.......more power...less weight ...get-er-done
to part 5?
