  • This Drone Will Change Battlefield Forever!
    The modern battlefield features less and less human involvement and more remote vehicles capable of doing damage but with no loss of life. These vehicles are now becoming more commonplace on land, seas and the skies. One of the most advanced unmanned ariel vehicles is courtesy of the UK’s Royal Air Force and it’s called the Jackal. Weapons like this threaten to change how wars are fought into the 21st century so let’s take a look at how it works.

      Right sure, it couldn't be that 1)Our cutting edge has never even been known to us or the majority of our military 2)Many of the latest known by the public aren't being sent into other countries to be potentially reverse engineered 3)Innovation in the most prominent areas is beyond required for how far ahead it already is after you consider the ways we must handicap ourselves for training exercises 4)You clearly still aren't looking in the right places because I'm aware of so many recent or recently released innovations ready to completely change the modern battlefield that it can be daunting to stay current, we even have new defense contractors being born from those innovations that are well outside the box and often cheaper and easier to produce solutions.in addition to many of the worlds largest, well honed and highly successful 5) We continuously upgrade older platforms as well. There is really no way to outcompete us overall due to spending more than the next 12 nations COMBINED on military spending, several of who are buying armaments from US, easily the world's largest arms manufacturer and dealer for good damn reason, so cope harder, you must ignore what you choose mot to see, but hey 👏 for your small achievements. We still have the world's most highly and widely regarded tech universities. By all means take advantage of older tech mainly developed by the world's far leading tech powerhouse unless you're in denial and choose to ignore. Since self-contained munitions and the first successful aircraft, not to mention distributed electrical power, communications and transistors we've been at the forefront of innovation and still are. These days the interconnectedness of elements linked to function in concert with one another is the name of the game. Our robots where it concerns general military functionality is beating Japan, but they love robots and AI is increasing on the battlefield as well so we might as well get used to that. Stealth continues to improve, lasers are becoming much more effective and practical for hypersonic where we also kill. Just out of curiosity what is it that you have which is so brilliant.

Recent intelligence has revealed just how unprepared for us our biggest enemies truly are and I was shocked, even already knowing that no nation on Earth can compete with our gigantic military industrial complex. Chinese missiles with water in place of fuel and incredible corruption running rampant among their defense apparatus. Finding reasons why Russia can't even handle Ukraine with military aid packages from the West, which in our case are already being eclipsed by our latest advancements which we won't be sending. We're just now getting some real world testing done for the systems we send them and that's going extremely well, despite constant Russian lies. The only direct involvement we currently have is blasting Houthies out of water for attacking our shipping vessels. Yemen had better learn to behave itself or it won't just get a timeout, it'll have time reversed by well over a century.

    Any remotely controlled vehicle is subject to jamming. At some point Electronic Warfare systems will find a means to disrupt the control of these vehicles either by jamming the control link or the sensors on board the UAVs. Of course with any jammer, the jamming itself becomes a self-identifying and locating target - thus begins the game of jamming and attacking the jammers. That means that such UAVs will eventually operate in teams with one seeking targets and another seeking jammers to attack. That means there will be wild weasel UAVs shortly, if they are not already being fielded.

    • @gscott5778
      @gscott5778 Před 6 měsíci +3

      That's fine for a wild weasel role drone but for the others if their navigation depends on GPS or any electronic signal that potentially might be jammed. With a man in the loop they can recognize the jamming and use the old Mark I eyeball to see their compass and other gauges or just look outside in the daytime. The question is just how much outside signals will such drones rely on to do their mission.

    • @knightsnight5929
      @knightsnight5929 Před 6 měsíci +2

    • @ManfredBartz
      @ManfredBartz Před 6 měsíci +5

      "... subject to jamming". That is why these drones will have limited AI for fully autonomous operation (at least in the final phase of their attack run.
      Inertial navigation and terrain matching will provide accuracy at least as good as GPS.

    • @Chimel31
      @Chimel31 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Missile-launching drones would be totally out of reach miles away from such jamming devices.
      Their jamming range is rather limited and very localized, plus GPS and radio is very well known and easily circumvented these days.
      You can't jam the whole Russo-Ukrainian 600 miles-long front line and 10-20 thousand square miles. Well, more like 2 million square kilometers deep in Russia's territory now that some Ukrainian drones can reach 1,000km range. And if you put anti-jamming devices on every vehicle and heavy weapon, it's probably already too late, the drone has acquired its target and will reach it by alternate means.

    #1 Drawback seems to be electrical power (batteries). They are HEAVY. Any drone that is to have a significant loiter time (in the air over battlefield on recon, etc...) will have to have either hybrid or pure ICE to get it to and from target areas. There are already small lightweight drones capable of suicide / self-destruction missions to destroy tanks, helos, etc... This thing seems to want to fill a need that doesn't yet exist.

      It can be scaled up and down but "up" is not very useful. USA drones are a perfect example of upscaled drones. They are big, expensive and easy targets. UK is just starting to get into drone business.

    i have the feeling that wars will evolve to be able to destroy your enemies manufacturing and energy production, rather than killing people , which may sound nice at first, but maybe this evolution in warfare will create more death and destruction than we had before.

    What will really change the battlefield will be the ability to compend all the sensory data from multiple sources, including drones, and display that to every soldier in a way that allows them to identify and locate every friend and foe around them in real time.

    Absolutely amazing. With a little more R&D and some programming wizardry they’ll be able to hunt down EW and C&C stations and destroy them by detecting signals. The fact that they’re VTOL and have a decent loiter time also gives it excellent area denial capabilities. Very very impressive indeed.

    It runs on batteries, it stayed in the air for 40 minutes that's it.
    Presumably a 6 hour recharge time.
    Maybe it needs an ultra quiet engine.
    Also being a drone, it relies on cameras for the operator to see what's going on, a smaller drone could sneak up on it sacrifice itself and take out one side or both sides of the rotas which are exposed and vulnerable.
    A racing drone with an all metal body would probably do the job, super fast all metal body make the edges into blades the big boy drone wiped out in not time, the missiles would not be able to defend against a small racing drone with sharpened edges.
    A fully loaded big boy drone would not be able to get out the way, so whatever this costs it could be wiped out with something that costs a fraction of the price in the hands of a skilled racing pilot.
    The problem with countries like the UK developing stuff like this is the lack of pilots, it's all very well the Ministry of defence training up pilots but when you have people playing with these things that have a passion for them it going to be almost impossible for the trained up pilots to compete against people who have played with these drones all their life.
    You can legislate to stop people in your own country becoming top drone pilots but that is not going to help you when you come against people who learn the skills using their own money in other countries.
    We should be encouraging kids and adults to play with drones, learn skills and so on if drones are going to become so important or we will be short of top drone pilots in the UK.
