    As a father myself, if someone would harm my little princess in any way would find me bringing on the same level of pain to that individual. I go through some level of anxiety whenever I drop off my daughter anywhere (ie: school, primary, babysitter, etc). I won't deny it, I'm an overly-protective father, but it's stories like these that keeps me alert to possible dangers. My princess is my world.

      That's the same way my fiance and I feel about our 2 year old daughter. That's why she will never go to an actual daycare or babysitter or school. I have a little less than 3 years to save up as much money as possible and by then my fiance will have a better paying job than what he has now and I will be homeschooling our daughter. If I can find a stay at home job that works with our schedules then I'd be glad to do that but I'm not going to risk my daughters mental or physical health ever!

  • @Amanda_Woodward
    @Amanda_Woodward Před 2 lety +911

    This is possibly top five worst true crimes story I’ve heard. I cannot even fathom how these mothers continued on with the rest of their lives, I’m sure they are still just as broken today as they were back then. There is nothing worse than sending your small child, 89 or 10 years old away to a wholesome summer camp, encouraging your little girl to go because he want them to experience this amazing adventure. These little girls were absolutely terrified and tortured, raped etc. during their last agonizing moments, to hear that one of their babies was calling for them, yelling mama… I honestly don’t think I could go on living with that pain.

    • @danirip1931
      @danirip1931 Před 2 lety +58

      It changed mother's across Oklahoma. Our mothers would cry and ask us over and over if we wanted to go on our scout trips. We stopped every hour to use a payphone (this was the 80's and early 90's) to call the scout master or one of the scout moms that didn't go, so they'd know we were safe. Once getting to the camp sites there would be so many girls because they no longer allowed single groups to camp alone. It was crazy how they were literally being security for us girls and there was always 3 counselors or camp moms awake walking together all night and even day if we stayed longer than a day or 2. It was a scary time especially when there was so much doubt about who did it

    The scariest thing to me was that the letter said 3 girls and that 3 girls were in this tent instead of 4. Were they being watched the whole time? Or was someone in on it (a counselor) because even if a man was walking around with a flash light as one of the other girls said, how would he have been able to go to each tent without bringing attention to himself.. idk it’s just strange in general! She reluctantly agreed & I remember I got a new pink suitcase, my very own bottles of shampoo, new toothbrush & toothpaste. I was so excited! On the second day, before lunch, I was at a leather stamping class (I made a heart shaped keychain that said Mom🤣) & all of our parents showed up & told us we were leaving. We cried & cried! They wouldn’t tell us why, we just had to leave. Turns out as soon as this story hit the news, the parents decided we couldn’t stay. As a parent now, I completely understand, at the time I was so upset & it was the first & last time I told my mom I hated her. What a brat I was😐 That next spring, April 9, 1978, my mom died in a car accident. When I hear this story, I’m horrified about what happened to these little girls & also ashamed of how I reacted.

    I first discovered your channel through the “unspoken prison rules” series that you did years ago and I was hooked on how captivating your stories were with the way you told these stories. You’ve experienced SO much throughout your life, especially at such a young age.
    If anyone reading this hasn’t watched your older videos where you talk about what happened to you as a toddler, I highly recommend that y’all check those out. You’re here because you’re watching a channel that covers these brutal things, at that point anything she says in the beginning is “disrespectful”. Otherwise, Christina focused on the girls when that’s not the case for most retellings of this. She was not disrespectful at all. She didn’t talk about the day it happened to be during the story or use the story to make an April fools joke, that would be different. You’re watching a true crime channel! Maybe it was just because it was a different time, but as a 2000s kid, for any camp that I went to a counselor was required to sleep in each and every tent/cabin. Never would anyone have left three 8-10 year old kids by themselves. And considering these counselors were so young themselves, maybe it wouldn't have made a difference and one more person would have needlessly died, but I don't know, it seems even sadder that those little girls died without anyone to look up to or hold. Incredibly tragic story, may they all rest in peace.
    Edit: Also I think you make a really valid point regarding the note, prank or no prank, the camp had an obligation to share that with parents. I'm in a unique position because I've worked as both a camp counselor and at a school, and when my school received a "prank" bomb threat, every parent was notified via email of what had occurred and several kids chose not to come to school the next day. Parents deserve to have that information before sending their children to a presumably safe place, like school or summer camp.

    A newlywed living in Oklahoma when this terrible case occurred, it hit me hard. I couldn’t stop thinking about it & it still captures all of my attention. It was so creepy. I do believe it was Gene Leroy,(pronounced La-Roy), Hart. Someone Cry For The Children is an excellent book on this case IF you can find it. There’s lots of interesting Native American beliefs in it. Allegedly, someone cursed the 2 tracking dogs they brought from out of state. 1 died from the excessive Oklahoma heat & humidity & the other was run over. There’s an Agent in it who happened to be Native American. He went & visited a Medicine Man about Hart. The man did some kind of ritual & told the agent if Hart was guilty, he would die soon. Gene, who worked out ALL the time & was very athletic, died shortly afterwards of a heart attack. So I believe from evidence, scientific & natural, that Gene Leroy Hart was absolutely Guilty. Rest In Peace, Girls, Love, from the Great State of Oklahoma,
    USA 🤍✝️🤍

    I've heard about this story before. It breaks my heart what happend to the girls 💔. I'm leaning towards 80% that Jean had something to do with this but not all the evidence points towards him like the "S" that was found. What stuck out to me was the note....it stated WE will kill. It makes me think that Jean could have had someone else there with him that night. Plus I find it hard to believe that ONE person could murder one girl at a time (without stopping the others from running out of the tent or screaming) and did the "other" things. It just doesn't add up. Also it was the failure of the camp that hadn't taken the note seriously. This could've been avoided by having around the clock security, etc. In conclusion, yes I believe he was there but he didn't do it alone.

      I just think most people can’t see past the history of abuse with the Boy Scouts and scouts in general.
      It’s scary to think it could happen again with your children.
      That being said I’m sure there are great families involved who are just trying to teach kids in a safe and fun way.
      I’m sure your family is one of those amazing groups of people, but the abuse both in the US and Canada was seemingly so rampant and the organization knew so it’s hard to trust they’ve changed.
      I feel it’s similar to how people view the Catholic Church.
      Have they done good? Yes, some churches more than others but they do mission trips and charity, etc for the community.
      But have they also caused an extreme amount of hurt and abused populations of people? Yes. For sure.
      It’s hard to look past that, ya kno??
      Regardless I’m glad you and your family have both had and made a positive place for children to learn and grow. That’s a special thing I’m glad they’re able to experience with you guys.
