  • Oceania was the last region to be settled by humans and the last part of Oceania to be settled by humans was Polynesia. Polynesians are famous for their voyages to remote islands in distant parts of the Pacific. Using outrigger canoes, they founded a society across islands stretching in a triangle from the Hawaiian Islands to Easter Island to New Zealand. That society was reasonably well-connected by trade, language, culture, and religion, despite its distribution over such a large area.
One major question today is where did the Polynesians originally come from? Several theories have been proposed over the years, but one which is gaining ground is that the Polynesians originated from Taiwan, parts of Papua New Guinea, and Southeast Asia. Another intriguing area of study is the genetic connection between Polynesians and South Americans.
Could the Polynesians Have Origins in South America?
One early theory of the origin of Polynesians is that they came from South America and sailed west, eventually reaching the Polynesian triangle. This was proposed by the archaeologist, writer, and explorer Thor Heyerdahl , who even constructed a Polynesian balsa wood raft and, with a team, sailed it west of Easter Island from the South American coast. This demonstrated the feasibility of using a primitive craft to cross the Pacific.
The thing to remember about experimental archaeology is that just because something could have theoretically been done doesn’t mean that it actually happened that way. Although it is plausible that Polynesia was settled by ancient South Americans; all the genetic, linguistic, and ethnographic evidence points toward a predominantly southeast Asian origin.

While Polynesian explorers definitely deserve more recognition for their accomplishments, I feel like the Asian Austronesians are even more overlooked. When people think of great voyagers, they automatically think of two people: the Vikings and the Polynesians.
But everyone seems to forget about Southeast Asians, the very people from whom the Polynesians primarily descend. Ancient Southeast Asians such as Indonesians and Malaysians sailed as far as sub-Saharan Africa, colonizing Madagascar even BEFORE the native Africans. The Javanese and other Asian Austronesians are known to have made contact with indigenous Australians before modern or colonial times. Southeast Asians were responsible for creating the very first large Maritime trade network in the Indian ocean and established the Maritime Silk Road linking the civilizations of China, India, the Middle East, and of course Southeast Asia itself, creating one of the most important Crossroads of the World in human history. Southeast Asian watercraft influenced those of China, India, Africa, and the Middle East with technologies like the water junk and the double outrigger canoe. Heck, Southeast Asia essentially MADE Han China a seaworthy civilization, considering that all non-fluvial Chinese vessels are derived from Austronesian junks.
Seriously, the Austronesians of Southeast Asia were among the greatest voyagers in premodern human history, second only after the Polynesians. They were certainly one of the most influential civilizations in terms of the technological and economic impact they had on the Old World.

@@mdb1239 Honestly they're all incredible in their own way. Vikings traversed the cold daunting waters of the arctic and had to contend with icebergs and snowstorms, surviving frigid temperatures and reaching North America. Asian Austronesians had a significant influence on world history by building the Maritime Silk Road and introducing their seafaring technologies to other civilizations, linking the Old World together from China to sub-Saharan Africa. Polynesians embarked on the greatest voyage in human history before the modern era by expanding across the most colossal body of water on the face of the Earth that is the Pacific Ocean, settling its most remote islands when no one else could. These are all incredible feats of seafaring and human ingenuity.

Also, i agree with the poster mdb123, not enough credit is given, as it's not just our poly gene pool found in Amerindians, so are our skulls found in America, Melanesia before the actual Melanesians today populated it, and other ancient lands like Australia, that point to an even more ancient oceanic dispersion than the 1200 AD migration date out of the Americas, as this video accurately points out. Our skulls are everywhere in the ancient world, they're found in museums of MesoAmerica and South America even before they realized those skulls are distinctively Polynesian. It's time to get to the bottom of who the Olmec civilization really were. I believe they were at least one of the various groups of Polynesians in the Americas, which possibly coalesced because of a monarchial branch, and may have migrated out of the Americas at least a whole millennium before the 1200 AD Polynesians migrated out of the Americas. The physical likeness in those Olmec heads are undeniable. But not just that, their HLA dna is shown to be in all the same places those ancient mound builders were and the Olmecs were and their descendants were.
They could have used several routes in and out of the Americas and to Polynesia and other lands, as their gene pool seem to be everywhere from Siberia, to Hans China, to Indonesia, Taiwan, virtually all of the Pacific islands not just localized to the Polynesian islands, Ancient Australia and even the Americas. This literally surprised the 2014 scientists, they realized then that the Polynesians were probably in several lands a lot earlier than the current people now living in those lands. At least that's been proven so far via the Vanuatu 3k old Lapita find.
Unraveling the complexity of the Polynesian origin is challenging for 2 main reasons. Firstly, they've designated archaic cultural constructions, and earlier civilizations in various lands to other people that should have been rightly assigned to the Polynesians as they're proving far more ancient than at first assumed. They're even now realizing this and admitting to that strong possibility too. 2ndly, the people who are now inaccurately getting the credit for the Polynesian's ancestors civilizations and other earlier constructions have national scholars in various fields who are understandably biased and so somewhat reluctant to do an exhaustive comparison, and concealing this fact ! They are pretending that Polynesians are not even a serious contender for being the descendants of the Olmecs, when the Polynesian HLA alleles are in all the ancient areas of the Americas that the Olmecs were and their so-called earlier descendants were known as the Zogue, or Miccosukee (literally pronounced Mikasuki) They are the main stumbling block. However, if valiant scientists keep plowing forward, we can finally uncover this amazing fact, with even the collective data, science already has.
So certain factors are really slowing down the process of finally revealing the fascinating depths of the Polynesian's very long and enduring voyages and Pilgrimage. We know their ancient dieties, and tattoos can be tracked back to Babylon, (Sumer) and Egypt, but i think that they can also be tracked back to ancient Turkey.

I didn’t believe we had ties with the Philippines when I was told back then but if you look at most Kukis (Cook Islanders) when they are growing up we all look like brown Asians similar to the Filipinos. I come from a bloodline of royalty, one of my ancestors married a chief in Atiu and created our bloodline and her name is Akepiatonga! I’ve also been told by family members that all 15 islands aren’t exactly islands but they are huge mountains that have survived Tsunamis, that’s why Rarotonga has signs around the whole island saying to head for “the mountains” if there’s a Tsunami.. In my opinion I’m pretty sure that’s why Polynesia isn’t whole anymore because the pacific ocean is highly dangerous due to the tectonic plates.. idk correct me if I’m wrong?

i agree with you except for the polynesia not being whole thing. some of polynesia is close to the plate edges and most islands have been affected by volcanic activity or tsunami, some have even exploded into and out of existence as with hunga tonga-hunga haʻapai. but polynesia hasn't grown or shrunk much in physical size, once populated by people it has always been interconnected islands, not a land continent. sea level hasn't changed much in the last 6,000 years and before that the polynesian islands were uninhabited. in the western and northern pacific sea level changes meant big areas of land were uncovered (and 5 degrees colder), like sahul in the west and beringia in the north, and those places would have had many people.

"The Lost Caravel" by Robert Adrian Langdon offers a very plausible theory for the diversity. The author explains that the sailors from a stranded Spanish ship had families with the dwellers of the islands. The San Lesmes had been separated in 1525 from the rest of the three other remaining caravels, from the initial seven, that sailed from Galicia, Northwestern Spain, westward to find a route to the spice islands. Incrusted into the corals, four canons from this ship had been discovered in 1929 at one of the many atolls of Polinesia. It was through these sailors that not only their genes and culture had been transmitted but their technical knowledge and naval expertise in sailing canoe and catamaran building. The Spanish culture can be seen in dances and dress attire (imitating the long skirts of the 16th century fashion along with the ruffs around the necks with what material there was on the islands. That the polynesians acquired superior ship making techniques being able to sail from Easter Island, Hawai and New Zealand, was passed down from generation to generation. The Maories in particular have the Patakas or storage houses on high wooden poles which are identical to the "Horrios" found in Galicia. The flowers behind the ear in women is a vey Spanish tradition, as are theatrical performances. How else can one explain the different skin coloration and traditions of the Polynesians in comparison with the melanesian populations. The explanation for there being native american indian genes was due to Spanish American presence in the late 18th century. There is evidence that a mission was set from Lima, Peru and Tahitians were taken to and from America.

I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days. Yea, I make a record in the language of my father, which consists of the learning of the Jews and the language of the Egyptians.
And I know that the record which I make is true; and I make it with mine own hand; and I make it according to my knowledge". 1 Nephi 1-3
Hello friends, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The verses above are the first three verses in The Book of Mormon. I know this probably isn't the most ideal place to talk about religion but I really do want you to know that God loves you. You may not love Him or care about Him at all, but He still will continue to love you. You are a beloved son or daughter of God. He knows you personally and He truly and deeply desires for your happiness. He loves everyone who has every lived on this earth, with a perfect equal love regardless of their race, gender, ethnicity, faith and values and beliefs. The Lord loves you more than you can think or comprehend. "He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile" 2 Nephi. He is our loving, caring Heavenly Father. We are literally His children and creations. When we were in the womb, he knew about us" Jerimiah 4:5. He knitted us and we were created in His image.
I testify to you that you and I are not a mistake. He knows the very moment when we stand and when we sit. He is familiar with all our ways and knows us personally who we are. The hairs on our very head are numbered. God loved us so much, He sent His Only Begotten Son for us, that we may be able to return and dwell in the presence of God again. The Lord has not forgotten about us even when it feels like He has. He will never forsake us. When we are happy, He and His angels rejoice alongside us. When we are sad, He heals us and lifts us up from our trials. He has always been there for us. He has always been our loving, compassionate Heavenly Father and God. Will we always be His children and people?
I testify to you that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ. Both love you exceedingly and rejoice when you are happy. They both love you so much. They love you with a love unfeigned. They will never ever stop doing good unto you. I know that The Book of Mormon is true. "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost". Moroni 10:4 I promise and testify to you, that if you will read The Book of Mormon, ponder on its message and ask God if it is not true, you will come to know of its truthfulness, whether its true or not true.
Remember my friends that God loves you with all his heart, might mind, soul and strength. He wants you to be happy. He knows what you are going through and dealing with right now. He desires for you to return back to Him. Unfortunately, He has been misrepresented and seen as a cruel and angry God who anticipates for us to slip and writes down every mistake we make waiting to punish us by those who do not know or know Him fully.
My friends, God has stored many opportunities and blessings for you. He is incredibly eager and desires with all His heart to bless you abundantly. He wants you to live with Him again. He only wants the best for you and your well being. He wants to experience everlasting joy and indescribable happiness in this life and in the life to come. He wants you to partake of His goodness and come and follow Him. The Lord does not care how early or late you decide to come unto Him. I testify to you that if you have strayed and wondered off the path that there is peace and hope in Jesus Christ, The Savior of the world. The Lord accepts those who come unto Him whether your early, late or just in time who desire to change. The Lord will accept you wholeheartedly and forgive you if you are willing to change. The Lord will welcome you and will always be ready to embrace you with open arms. The Lord will lift us up in our trials and use us to bless the lives of those around us if we are willing to change.
If you desire to learn more, you are always welcome to visit comeuntochrist.org. There you will learn more about The Church of Jesus Christ and our core beliefs and values. If you have taken the time to read The Book of Mormon and this comment, thank you. It takes a huge leap of faith and a lot of courage to muster enough faith to read in the Book of Mormon and to believe in something in a personage that you may never see in this lifetime. Although we may not be able to see God and Jesus Christ in this life, I testify to you that they are real. They do truly exist. I promise you that if you will pray to know of their existence, you will come to know whether they exist or have been made up.
You are my friends. The Lord loves you unconditionally and is fully aware of you and despite all our weaknesses and shortcomings, he still loves us and will forgive us if we will humble ourselves before Him and diligently seek correction and do whatever is needed to repent.
Remember that The Lord is always available to talk to through prayer 24/7. No question sounds too silly for Him. James wrote, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him" James 1:5. If you must know whether or not something is true and uplifting, or evil and deceptive, you can always pray to God. He will help you know what the truth is and what is not the truth. He will never be too busy to talk to. He will give you strength you need to overcome and conquer your temptations and will give you the strength you need to endure through your trials and afflictions. Paul said that The Lord will not give you temptations that you cannot resist, but that in your temptations, He will provide a way for you to resist, overcome and conquer them. He will provide a way. He wants to bless you and reward you abundantly in Spiritual and physical things. The Lord knows you and will not forget you. You are loved. You are utterly amazing. You have incredible potential. You are not forgotten or ever will be forgotten or forsaken. You are special. You are unique. You really are one of a kind. You have been reserved for this time and The Lord needs you on His side.
It just simply would not be the same without you. That's just how much the Lord need you on His side.
Thank you dearly for your time.

Hi, I am a Filipino and to be honest, I have never heard before about Pacific Islanders, or maybe even our history does not included them. When I know about the people of the Pacific Islanders because of CZcams, and I learned some of their history. Then realized that the people in the Pacific Islands were also occupied by our ancestors, or the early Austronesian Filipinos, which is why we are linguistically related, and some of them also have Filipino blood too. I don't know how the people of the Pacific Islands feel about the fact that they have Asian relatives. From now on, I will consider them our relatives. Even though we Filipinos are predominantly Asian. Our Austronesian ancestors is one of the tribes in China, then they migrated to Taiwan and start being linguistic, and Taiwan was the hometown of Austronesian languages. Then they entered the Philippines for a many couples of thousands of years, and they populated our country, bringing their cultures, traditions and languages in our country. We also have strong ties from our neighboring countries like Southeast Asian country and even China and Japan we have their influences as well because of our long history contact between these two nations, Chinese peoples settled our country as far back as the early 9th century and Japanese people settled our country in 17th century, bringing their significant cultures and traditions to our country, we have many Spanish influence and American as well because our Mother land Philippines was a former Spanish and American colony. but I can't deny that there have many similarities between Filipinos and people in the Pacific Islands. Yes, indeed, we have, even though we filipinos in general are Asian by cultures, influences and genetics even our geography is part of Asia, but I will consider the peoples of Pacific islands as our relatives because we are linguistically related and they have some Austronesian filipino genetics as well; it doesn't matter when we look different as long as we have something in common. Some of them also ignore us Filipinos because they said we are Asian and we have a lot of differences between our cultures between to their cultures, but as far as I know, we are linguistically related and we have similarities too, so we Filipinos are your Asian cousins.

The idea that the chumash got canoe technology from polynesians is a maybe, that polynesians got kumara from america seems likely (the other explanation is that it got to polynesia naturally). The chicken bones seem like a dead end, and there is no polynesian dna in chilean natives nor in any other native american populations. native american dna in fatu hiva and easter island (dated around a thousand years ago) seems very convincing - most likely polynesians reached america at least once around then and took a small number of people back west with them. if they had been to the americas "regularly" we would see polynesian dna in the americas and we haven't found that evidence.

@Brian Ortega no, that makes zero sense sorry. i think what's confusing you is the timing of these events. eastern polynesia, new zealand, hawaii and probably the americas and australia were reached by _polynesians_ within the last thousand years. those people were polynesians exactly like the polynesians that live throughout eastern polynesia today.
polynesians are the direct descendants of austronesians, and austronesians spread from taiwan through the western pacific (and madagascar), east as far as tonga/samoa. those taiwanese austronesians were not the taiwanese people of today (who have han chinese ancestry), but an ancestral group of indigenous austronesian people, more similar to polynesians than your average taiwanese. so polynesians definitely did navigate thousands of km of open ocean, to settle new lands like new zealand, hawaii and easter island. this is all support by genetics, linguistics and archeology. understand?

I have wondered if some fairly unrelated humans met and sometimes had babies with dwarfism and maybe cleft lip - but since their enlightened dads had arrived from the sea dwarfs/jaguars were therefore deified. Also the jaguar is more quiet and reserved while the serpent is more warlike and phallic. I think jaguar is more left handed and serpent more right handed, looking at lots of photos of carvings over the years.

    Origin of Japanese:
Haplogroup D1a2 and C1a1 are suggested to have arrived into Japan during the prehistory of Japan, during the Jōmon period.
D has its highest diversity within Tibeto-Burmese groups and the oldest D lineage was found im western Tibet and one sample in the Altai region.
Y-DNA haplogroup D1, making up 40% of the Japanese male lineages
Haplogroup D1a2a is found among the Ryukyuans as well as the Ainus, and is t hought to have been the dominant paternal lineage of the Jōmon people.
    K2a/NO
During the Yayoi period, haplogroup O1b2+O2a started to arrive and spreaded to every region of Japan.
Just over half of Japanese men belong to haplogroup O. The vast majority belong to O1b2, a lineage found especially in Manchuria, Korea and Japan, and O2a, the main Han Chinese paternal li neage. A negligible percentage of the Japanese belong to the O1a and O1b1
    The O-M175 haplogroup origin were Yunnan-Burma border,and separated into 2 branch, O1 (O-F265) and O2 (O-M122)
    O2 - Sino-Tibetan
    O1=O1a+O1b
    O1a Austronesians.
    O1b1 Austroasiatics
    O1b2 moved to Korea/Samhan people
Approximately 3% of Japanese men belong to haplogroup N, a lineage that is thought to have originated in China some 35,000 years ago
It is found at low frequencies in Korea and could have arrived with the Yayoi people. Alternatively, N1 could also have entered Japan via Sakhalin and Hokkaido, as it is present among eastern Siberia tribes
Haplogroup N1 was found at high frequency in Neolithic and Bronze Age remains (4500-700 BCE) from the West Liao River valley in Northeast China (Manchuria) by Yinqiu Cui et al.
Haplogroup N1 is found especially among Uralic and Turkic peoples nowadays, including among the Finns, Estonians and Sami in Northeast Europe
    K2b/Q
Haplogroup Q is the dominant lineage of Native Americans, but originated in Siberia.
it is possible that the tiny fraction of Japanese Q lineages came with Yayoi farmers. It is unlikely to have entered Japan through Hokkaido as it is not found among tribes at the eastern extremity of Siberia, nor among the Ainus.
In conclusion, approximately 43% to 48% of modern Japanese men carry a Y-chromosome of Jōmon origin. The highest proportions of Y-DNA haplogroup C and D is found in northern Japan (over 60%) and the lowest in Western Japan (25%). This is concordant with the history of Japan; the Yayoi people of Sino-Korean origins having settled first and most heavily in Kyushu and Chūgoku, in Western Japan
Haplogroup C is another extremely old lineage that left Africa approximately 60,000 years ago and spread over most of Eurasia. Two subclades of C are found in Japan: C1a1 and C2a.
The first group to separate was C1, which colonized the Middle East and South Asia. One branch (C1a ) may have moved north to Central Asia and then split in two: One tribe moved to Europe (haplogroup C1a2,C1a2 is now nearly extinct in Europe.), while the other migrated to East Asia and survives today only in Japan (C1a1).
Haplogroup C2a, representing also 3% of the population, is typically found among the Mongols and Siberians. It might have come with the Ainu through Sakhalin island and Hokkaido, or along with the Yayoi farmers from Korea.
The second branch of C1 spread into South Asia, Southwest Asia, and Central Asia, where it is found today at low frequencies (C1b1a1). During this time, other C strains continued their eastward migration into Southeast Asia, where they split into four main regional clusters: The first branch colonized Indonesia, Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia (C1b2a). A second branch went south to Australia, where they became the Aborigines (C1b2b). Another settled in the highlands of New Guinea (haplogroup C-P55).
The fourth branch went as far as Northeast Asia (haplogroup C-M217) and is now widespread mainly among the Mongols (Kalmyks, Buryats, and Oirats), the Turkic peoples of Central Asia (Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Uzbeks, Dolgans), and the East Siberian tribes (Chukchi, Itelmen, Nivks, Tungus). Furthermore, it is also common in moderate amounts among Chinese (Han, Hui, Manchus), Koreans, but also among several indigenous peoples of North America, including some Na-Dené, Algonquian or Siouan-speaking populations.

this was a really good video essay but what it overlooked, that is crucial to the discussion of Amerindian contact pre columbus, is that prior to european contact, the staple crop of Maori society were kumara, which are types of sweet potato. Now potato originate & were only ever domesticated in South America. Considering that Maori had landed in New Zealand by the time of the crusades, & there was limited contact between Maori & the rest of Polynesia (relative to how frequent trade was between islands). We can speculate that the original contact between polynesia & the America's probably goes back much further based on how disseminated Kumara were across the pacific & how integral it was Polynesian agriculture

1,K2b1 (M,S) → went south mixed with local Denisovan, and became Papuan peoples, Melanesians, Australian Aborigines, Polynesians
    2,Y dna K2b2 (Q,R) ,P1 through Indochina/Sunda Shelf→Northern China/Tianyuan Cave→Siberia,they split into Q and R(about 30,000 years ago)
    3,Y dna K2a-M2313 (N,O) stay in Indochina,NO enter South China,they split into N and O,Then , N1a enter Siberia(about 10,000-15,000 years ago)
Y DNA O1split into O1b and O1a. O1a move to Taiwan and became to Austronesians. O1b1 became to Austroasiatics who live in Indo-China and O1b2 move to Korea and Japan,Tai-Kadai stay in China
Y DNA O2aN1a enter Northeast China and mixe with C2, westward into Tibet/D1
Haplogroup D1 can actually be mostly linked to ancient East Asian Highlanders(Proto-Tibeto-Burman), which seem to have had geneflow into coastal southern East Asia, as well as to Japan(Jomon Period) and ancient Southeast Asia prior to the expansion of East Asian lowland farmers.
Tibetans and Han Chinese are part of the Sino-Tibetan family and had been isolate from each other for approximately 4,200 to 7,800 years ago
    Han Chinese mainly O2a
    Tibetan mainly D1a1+O2a
It is suggeted that C1 and D1 was among the first haplogroups to arrive in Malay Archipelago, followed by MS and P as well as O-M175(O1+O2).
proto-Austronesians originated in Southern China(O-M175)before they migrated to Taiwan and then to Southeast Asia. From there, some Austronesians stayed in Southeast Asia (Filipinos, Javanese, Malays) whereas others proceeded farther East into the Pacific Islands (Samoa, Hawaii, etc).
That's the reason why do Filipinos look more Malay people while Pacific Islanders don't!Although Filipinos and Pacific Islanders are both Austronesians
Genetic work had suggested the ancestors of Native Americans split from Paleo-Siberians(Q1+C2+R1) about 25,000 years ago,R1 split into R1a and R1b,migrated west into what is now Iran India and Europe/about 20,000 years ago
haplogroup R1a diversification likely occurred in the vicinity of present-day Iran.

As the climate began warming at around 18,000 years ago, the Beringia region also became more moist and the sea level rose, submerging the land bridge .
The apparent dearth of haplogroup N-M231 amongst Native American peoples indicates that it spread after Beringia was submerged about 11,000 years ago.
N1a enter Siberia, they became the Neo-Siberians and Northern tungus (absorb Paleo-Siberians Q1+C2),Native Americans didn't seem to have many genetic links to any living group of Neo-Siberians(Ydna N1a).but,they share the same mtDNA type:Native Americans,Siberian, East Asian(mtDNA=ABCD)
    About 5000-10000 years ago
The northern “Chinese” began to form the Sinitic language family
    Origin of Chinese: Yellow River (C2b N1a O2a Q1) + Yangtze River (O1b1+O1a)
The northern “Mongolian” began to form the proto-Altaic language family
That is the reason why Sino-Tibetan and Altaic haplogroups are similar, but the languages are different
Then proto-Altaic people split into two groups N1a and O2a+C2
    1,N1a enter Siberia,they became the Neo-Siberians and Northern tungus (absorb Paleo-Siberians Q1+C2)
A genetic study published in Scientific Reports in November 2019 examined the remains of fourteen Early Avar period males. The majority of them were found to be primarily of East Asian origin, their Y-DNA was "strikingly homogenous", belonging to haplogroups N-M231 and Q-M242″.
The historical Hungarian conqueror YDNA has a higher eastern affinity at ~37.5% to up to 50% haplogroup N, as well as lower frequency of haplogroup C2 at 6.25%
2,O2a+C2 enter the Korean peninsula, where they assimilated the earlier inhabitants of the peninsula(O1b).
These earlier peoples are thought to have have originated from Yangtze River farmers (from southern China O1)
During the Yayoi period, haplogroup O1b2+O2a started to arrive and spreaded to every region of Japan.
Origin of Koreans: Liao River/north East Asia (O2a+C2) + Korean peninsula natives (O1b2)
Origin of Japanese: Jomon (D1a2+C1a1) + Korean peninsula /Yayoi (O2a+O1b2).
A study combining linguistic, genetic and archaeological evidence has traced the origins of the family of languages including modern Japanese, Korean, Turkish and Mongolian and the people who speak them to millet farmers who inhabited a region in northeastern China about 9,000 years ago.

As a Samoan, we were taught that two waves of Samoans migrated to Samoa. The first wave was considered proto Samoans, darker version. They did not migrate, the next migration were the lighter skin Samoans. Polynesians have been around for over 4500 years as our lapita pottery has dated back according to archaeologists. Some scholars believe that Polynesians were lapita people who migrated throughout the pacific.

it looks to me like there was no early waves of darker samoans, but that the first people of samoa were austronesian, arriving from around 3,000 years ago. samoans (and all polynesians) today have around 75% austronesian and 25% papuan dna, so that "darker" papuan dna must have either already been in austronesian genomes when lapita arrived in samoa, or it was introduced later. interested to know what other information is out there.

This could be possiblity. The languages spoken by Melanesians in Fiji, Vanuatu. Solomon Islands, New Calendonia, Parts of Papua New Guinea and some native Melanesians speak Austronesian languages in Indonesia and Philippines. It is not their ancestral language. The languages these Melanesians speak have same origin with Polynesians and the Southeast Asians. The argument of being two migrations can further explored scientifically. The first migration could have been intermarriaged with the Papuans and Negritos in Indonesia, Timor and Papua New Guinea. Their descendents now become Austronesian Speaking people in Melanesia (,meaning darker skin people). Note that Papuans have light brown skin to dark brown and to very dark like Australian Aboriginals or South Indians. But most skin pigment of Austronesian speaking people in Melanesia are darked skin but facial features and languages are similar to some extent to lighter skin Polynesians. The lighter skin Polynesians could be later migration and intermarriage could be limited as they saw that Islands were occupied by people and intermarriage between two groups were to a lesser extent.Ths gives rise to Polynesians especially in Tonga, Samoa and Hawaii. The early photographs during colonial era can see Melanesian features. Today in Polynesia intermarriage between European's and east Asians had happened. It is now difficult to identify some one based on the skin colour.

    Austro-Tai O1a (M119)→Yangtze River Basin→Baiyue people
A 2007 analysis of the DNA recovered from human remains in archaeological sites of prehistoric peoples along the Yangtze River in China also shows high frequencies of Haplogroup O1 in the Neolithic Liangzhu culture, linking them to Austronesian and Tai-Kadai peoples. The Liangzhu culture existed in coastal areas around the mouth of the Yangtze. Haplogroup O1 was absent in other archaeological sites inland.
    Yangtze Riverm O1a (M119)→Fujian→Taiwan→ Austronesian→ Islands of Southeast Asia/C1b2a+D+M→Malayo-Polynesian
Austronesian-speaking regions also have high to moderate frequencies of Haplogroup O1 of the Y-DNA (including Madagascar) indicating shared paternal ancestry, with the exception of Polynesia where the Papuan-derived Haplogroup C1b2a1a (P33) predominates (although lower frequencies of Austronesian Haplogroup O2-M122 also exist).
Haplogroup O has nothing with Haplogroup C
    Fujian O1a →Guangdong and Guangxi O1b1a1→Kam-Tai/Zhuang people
    Kam-Tai→Mainland Southeast Asia→Laos →Thailand
Genetic evidence points out Zhuang/ Kra-Dai possesses a very high frequency of Haplogroup O1b with most of them being subclade O1b1a1 making it the most dominant marker, one that they share with Austro-Asiatic. The other portion of O1b belongs to subclade O1b1a2.
Zhuangs have prevalent frequencies of O1a which links them with Austronesian, but O1a is at much lower rate compared to O1b1a1 and only slightly higher than O1b1a2.
Haplogroup O1b in Taiwan aborigines is almost completely non-existent, but they exhibit very high frequencies of O1a.
This suggests that in the event that the Austro-Tai hypothesis is correct, Tai-Kadai speakers have assimilated O1b into their population after the separation of Tai and Austronesian.
    Austro-Tai
The Kra-Dai languages contain numerous similar forms with Austronesian which were noticed as far back as Schlegel in 1901.These are considered to be too many to explain as chance resemblance. The question then is whether they are due to language contact (i.e., borrowing) or to common descent (i.e., a genealogical relationship).

Great content and very interesting. In the 1960's when I studied the migration of the Polynesians, one of the theories was that they originated from Malaysia. Recently, the theory that Polynesians originated from Taiwan is based on language and DNA and probably the most correct. Agree that these were the aboriginal Taiwanese and not the present Taiwanese people who are mostly descendants of the Han Chinese. Polynesians did not use written history, instead used oral methods such as chants, legends and stories. Archeological studies of the Marquesas and the Hawaiian and Maori chants show that the last wave of Polynesian migration came from the Marquesas to Hawaii and New Zealand and possibly Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Because they were excellent voyagers, the travel between these areas are covered through chants and legends. It is unknown why the contact with Rapa Nui ended and a different Polynesian culture developed there. This could have happened because of the Rapa Nuian contact with South America. I also believe that it is more likely that the Polynesians visited the Americas rather than American Indians visiting Polynesia. Just compare a Polynesian canoe versus a balsa canoe and realize how much more sea worthy it is. History also shows that Polynesians were excellent ocean voyagers, but there is very little data of American Indian ocean voyages. I met an American Archeologist on Rapa Nui in 1969 who was working there and he told me that Thor Heyerdahls' book "Kon Tiki" was a tale and that he found two connections to South America on Rapa Nui. This was the potato and papyrus plant that was growing there. I forgot his name, but I remember that he was a professor at an midwest American University and had made many trips to Rapa Nui. On my tour of the island, there were no standing Moai (stone statues).

    The O-M175 haplogroup origin were Yunnan-Burma border. Before separated into 2 branch, O1 (O-F265) and O2 (O-M122)
    O2 (O-M122) entered East Asia with the western route (Himalayan-Yunnan). And became to Sino-Tibetan O2a2b1 (M134) and Hmong-Mien O2a2a1a2 (M7).
O1 (O-F265) They separated to 2 branch, O1a and O1b. O1a (M119) moved to Taiwan and became to Austronesians. O1b1a1a (M95) became to Austroasiatics who lived in Indo-China and O1b2 moved to Korea and Japan.
    O1b (O-M268)=O1b1+O1b2
The broad consensus on the Urheimat (homeland) of Austronesian languages as well as the Neolithic early Austronesian peoples is accepted to be Taiwan, as well as the Penghu Islands.
    Taiwanese aborigines 89.6%O1a
Y-chromosome haplogroup O2-M122 is a common DNA marker in Han Chinese, as it appeared in China in prehistoric times.Other Y-DNA haplogroups that have been found with notable frequency in samples of Han Chinese includ
    12,0%C2
    K2a -13,0%O1a+ + 10,3%N1+ 7,2%O1b
    K2b - 4,2%Q1
Genetic studies have been done on the people and related groups. The Haplogroup O1 (Y-DNA)a-M119 genetic marker is frequently detected in Native Taiwanese, northern Philippines and Polynesians, as well as some people in Indonesia, Malaysia and non-Austronesian populations in southern China.
An important breakthrough in studies in Austronesian genetics was the identification of the "Polynesian motif" (Haplogroup B4a1a1) in 1989, a specific nine-base-pair deletion mutation in mtDNA. Several studies have shown that it is shared by Polynesians and Island Southeast Asians, with a sub-branch also identified in Madagascar, indicating shared maternal ancestry of Austronesians.

I appreciate you for sharing that. I understood everything you said. I always have a hard time understanding when people talk about genetics on the internet. I am studying I.T so I never had any classes with genetics🤣but I was always interested in the Biological Sciences eversince I was a kid. I copy pasted your post to my MS OneNote because I always wanted to know genetically where my people came from. 👍No wonder why some Japanese people look like South East Asians. Lol.

We migrated from South East Asia through the Melanesian islands on to Samoa and Tonga. Then voyage to Eastern Polynesia like Marquesas, Tahiti, Cook Islands, etc. Continuing onto Hawaii, Easter island and finally New Zealand.

@@goldgen7352 bullshit. The sailing technology used to sail into the pacific was the one the Austronesians brought with them. This is evident in the archaeological linguitical and DNA evidence found on Vanuatu and Fiji. Melanesians entered the above after Lapita/Polynesians. Polynesians are also bigger due to a maritime mutation that stores fat for long journeys across the ocean.
