So glad you interviewed Dr Crean! He is great. He got me into sprouting and avian teas.
Yea, he is clawsome and shared so much great info!🌿
❤listened twice to this! Thank you for the expertise and researched information! And Sandra you are a great interviewer ❤
Wow 🤩 that’s great to hear! And thank you so much😉❤️ appreciate it!
Awesome advice! Unfortunately even the 5 star rated avian vets are still pushing pellets, shaming people for feeding chop and sprouts instead. The only avian vet in San Francisco told me I “needed” to feed my birds an 80% pellet diet. I mentioned I give them Top’s as a snack, and she said “I don’t recommend Top’s because they don’t go to our conferences.” What? This told me that what’s happening at avian vet conferences highly influences the way the vet speaks to their patients. Please keep getting the word out!
Oh my gosh😮😧 good on you that you’ve done your own research on diet and continue with chop, sprouts and TOPs! Sounds like their conferences need more speakers on proper nutrition for parrots🌶️🥬 thanks for tuning in!
Always appreciate the knowledge Dr Crean has to share! You guys touched on it at the end regarding diet conversion but are there any more in depth resources on this? I have 2 rescues who are especially difficult. Thanks!
An amazing episode! I’m not sure of in depth resources but I have a video with over a dozen ways to try and introduce veggies to birds which might be helpful! czcams.com/video/MGyN4F8sY1s/video.htmlsi=o1Gbi-t-_QNrhaZj

Fantastic interview, always learning❤❤🐥 for my two parrolettes 😊
Awww😀😀👋🏼🙋🏼♀️
@@orianafisher3960 thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!😀
Mine too 😍 Helping so many parronts across the world! 🥰
I never gave my birds cooked food as birds in the wild don’t eat anything cooked unless they’re digging in the trash but birds rarely do that, not exotic birds anyway and I give some organic grains and seeds mix as part of their diet since they’re natural ground feeders. I have lovebirds so they like crunchy vegetables. They won’t eat what’s been frozen. They surprisingly never touched sprouts but I’ll try mixing them with dried greens and see what happens. With other vegetables, they toss them. 😂 As for their pellets, they eat Top’s and I converted them quickly to that.
Good stuff! Hopefully, they start enjoying more sprouts too😀
One of my favorite episodes!! I would love to know how this information would apply to my red factor canary! I know she’s not a parrot, but I’m wondering if I could contact Dr. Crean to gather his thoughts on feeding a similar diet to both my parrotlet and canary. Also, I have a humidifier, but it’s a cool mist not warm mist as recommended by our avian vet. Curious about his thoughts on that too.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! From Dr.Crean: “Finches and canaries could always benefit from a diverse whole food diet, with a base of seeds including the omega-3 fatty acid seeds like hemp and flax along with sprouts and microgreens”.
Why does soaked buckwheat "slimy" right away?
I was watching this podcast right after i threw a wild rice mix and quinoa on the stove to add with our chop. At the same time, I decided to soak a bean mix we got from our local Sprouts market. I'm gonna kill our bird :(
Aww, don't beat yourself up! We learned in this episode with Dr. Jason Crean! And the cooked grains aren't bad but cooked food will spoil faster as well and you can make changes from your next chop!😀
Where can we buy Dr. Crean’s products?
Nevermind ! Found the links in your caption yay thank you!
biobirdblends.com - in the US and in Canada they carry their products at the parrot shop. Ca 😊
Wow I really love this video!! I had the pleasure to meet Dr Cream the day I pick up Rokko at Parrot Stars 👏👏👏👏
Thank you!! And that’s cool, how awesome!😀☺️ Rokko is lucky to be with you!
Awesome podcast. I like Dr. Crean. Learned something again. 😊
Thank you!😀 This was a really good episode!!🥦
@PoodlesandParrots yes. He set things or myth straight which make me feel good
Is 49 a good age for a parrot?
I would say so! What’s the species?
What about frozen veggies guys? (I havent seen 2nd half of vid till tomorrow)
Dr Jason Crean mentions that a raw, fresh diet is best, and for the dry mixes, freeze-dried veggies are good to include! Fresh vegetables offer optimal nutrition and are more likely to be accepted.☺
