    When are you and Rob Dahm going to meet and discuss rotary engines ? I was watching your videos years ago then you must of took a break because I ended up following Rob Dahm and been watching him for years because of the similar videos. Very passionate about every final detail and super in-depth explanation of everything and the process it took and you're super humble and give respect to everyone who's helped you and been apart of the project along the way. Looking forward to more from you can't wait too hear this thing running and what you're doing for ECU and PDM controls. Very insightful learned alot indirectly from just watching over the years. That turbo is insane but they've come out with some even better stuff recently, E-gates, twin scroll, better bearings, turbo speed sensors. I bet you'll go with something different than what is in this video?

  • @neilmchardy9061
    @neilmchardy9061 Před 3 měsíci

    Most of the tension on the the drive and driven comes from the work not the tensioner. You could look at belt tension as a static load, the work is where the real tension occurs. Moving the alternator and pump away on Jack shafts is a great idea and offsets the load from radial to axial which protects their own bearings.

Labels and titles are never important, though, and what he's putting together is very special and from here, the execution and thoroughness are what's not common in builds I've seen, especially with this much truly custom work. Yes it is something we are currently considering, replacing the front guide bolt with a shoulder bolt that holds a ball bearing, pressed into a plate that ties into the oil pan / front cover. however it would require extreme accuracy in bracket placement and Clearence from fuel tank is limited. I am on the fence as to whether it's truly necessary, and if trying to add more support would actually create more risk from more potential things that could fail

    all those lines being very close to the frame or that nut...will be a problem. You can calculate all you want, but you will have more vibration than you think when you are actually running/driving, and things are flexing even just from harmonics, or cornering loads...etc Stuff is going to contact and rub and erode FOR SURE.
    Especially not in very accessible locations...that's going to be a problem area down the line. Which I guess might not be an issue fast enough, and you'll have the F1 style lines before the braided lines wear through. But seriously that stuff can happen VERY quickly.
    Look into the motion detection software that can take even low resolution remote camera feed data, and calculate partial pixel shifts in shade to play out the full range of motion those parts are seeing during operation. It can be pretty cheap to do, and at the very least is very cool to watch with little time/money invested

    The small keyway on your Lovejoy coupler is likely to shear.
    Because of the length of the block you might want to feed the coolant into each rotor section and out the other side rather than along the length of it. I know that's not how the water galleys work on a rotory, but something like that would be much better.
    Your cogg belt that is closest to the engine may "slap" and interfere on the lower center portion, with the idler bracket for the other belt.

    I dare you to put a temp sensor at the entry of the block aswell

      I was actually pretty happy to know that the eccentric shaft will work!
