- TWC T-Shirts back in stock! A stupid breakdown, fog, rain, hail, gales and thunder! In a crazy little blue three-wheeler with a missing window. This video has it all. I was taking my 1972 Invacar Model 70 from my old unit to my new one - it isn't ready yet, but at least TWC is closer to home at last! TWC 725K.
TWC T-shirts and other HubNut goodies can be purchased at hubnut.org where you'll also find support options. Or, support HubNut at / hubnut or via Channel memberships: / @hubnut

"Three-wheeled Micro-Anglia does not exist, it cannot hurt you"
Three-wheeled Micro-Anglia:
Reminds me of driving a roofless AC Cobra kit car from Manchester to Dundee in 8 hours of solid rain and frequent stops to empty a cracked distributor cap. Luckily the rain covered my tears.
Wtf. Ian you must of been soaked? No wonder the Europeans think we’re nuts🤣
@@matty6848 we don't think that, we know..... 😉😂
I had a Caterham a few years back, and this reminds me of several miserable journeys in torrential rain, at night with the full 'hood' on, and one or two without a roof on. Caterhams aren't particularly good at stopping water ingress at the best of times, your head is at the height of most people's headlights, the wipers are tiny, the side and rear plastic windows mist up and even the heated windscreen wasn't much better. A 'half hood' is generally much better when you're actually driving.
This is classic HubNut! have watched it about ten times and it never get's boring,.
Thanks for all the fantastic adventures Ian.
That makes the footage of Guy Martin and Joey Dunlop racing round the Isle of Man took tame.
Especially when played at double speed.
Lorries look BIG. For his sake, don't look round. You're giving me nightmares!! 😳🤪👍
Agreed Spencer. Well funded super edited rubbish. Give me Ian’s CZcams videos any day. He’s the real deal🙌🏼👍
@@matty6848 Although it has to be said that when Guy Martin's TT ride ended in a fireball, it was pretty exciting.
Grenville Phillips oh wasn’t it just. I do like Guy Martin and he comes across as genuine but it’s all the massive funding they have and teams around them, that makes it look all so spectacular. At least with Ian’s videos it’s real life what you see is what you get. Plus I love his quirky nature and that fact he himself admits he just loves awful cars😂
Quite often nowadays I see comments on your videos Ian talking about “Pure Hubnut”, and I can confidently say this is the most Pure Hubnut video I’ve seen in a while haha, absolutely fantastic 👌
'We don't need windows where we're going.' Famous last words 🤪 A brave soul indeed 😄
What, in wet Wales....😁
I've found that saying literally anything before you get to work on something car related will jinx the lot. The only way to have a 100% success rate is to go into full monk mode and not say a word and nothing will get compromised.
I can see Ian dressed up as the Doc, beats a DeLorean hands down!
@@ianjoyce5120 Lol, oh yes 😁
Reminded me of the back to the future line lol
I miss seeing these at the side of a footie pitch.
As a cat guy I was so happy to see George again - Milly the stray sends her best wishes.
My dog Zebbie would love to meet George and/or Milly. He is a fitness trainer for cats, squirrels, pigeons, corvids and foxes. George would soon be a very fit cat indeed.
7:03 no triangle of doom but a slight corner of dissapointment
well in my corner, behind the camera, i was full of anticipation. lol
'Corner of disappointment'
That needs to be on a tee shirt
One has to feel the stress levels of HubNut at this point, if that insufficient parking at the 19:30 stopped bothering him ;)
Brilliant, Hubnut at its best
Yep, this is a classic!
Three years on, still one of my favourite HubNut videos... :)
"whoa this is getting lively" next second "flat out on the throttle" LOL you gotta love Hubnut.
I was trying to use that truck as shelter!
@@HubNut Oh. WE thought you were trying to use it as a car wash.
There isn't an aquaplane in the world, which can't be solved by *Momentum.* ;) ;)
@@HubNut I like it. it does look fun and moves well 👍👍
If this isn't a good road test of an invacar in typical British weather I don't know what is.
It's so wonderful to see you back at the old place and George looks as mischievous as ever! You definitely needed that unit though, no chance of keeping them all out in the open now.
Hahaha, that's classic Hubnut there. Great video, made me laugh lots - hands up everyone who was yelling at the screen "YOU DIDN'T TURN THE SPARKRITE BACK ON!!!!!"
Best. TWC. Video. EVER!!
Hey, if TWC can survive that ordeal, she'll survive anything. I must admit when I saw the flooding in Aberystwyth today I did look for Hubnut vehicles in the pictures...
LOL, that has cheered me up no end. Just hilarious. It looked like you were tanking it along at around 80mph from the footage.
Glad you arrived safe n sound.
"the charging isn't optimal", is great description of ancient electrics.
A bit of bodgery hubnut on the old mop style there ian !!!!! Great content and still oiling the welsh countryside!!!!!!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍👍👍😄😄😄😄
"Nothing to do but carry on" should be on a tee-shirt.
I see you fit a paddle on the throttle like we used to on our motorcycles in the 1970s and 80s. Cheap cruise control.
I totally agree with that - with a drawing of a wheelbarrow
No the paddle was for emergency use should he get flooded.
Yes, maybe with a nice drawing of TWC ploughing through the rain, hail, wind and flooded road, headlights on, soaked driver with flashes of lighting and general blackness in the background!
Firstly I must apologise for laughing as you were getting wet in the rain, but you did us proud, you and twk battled on and overcame the torrential rain and thunder, thank you so much Hubnut.
I must have a cruel streak. It wasn’t until Ian yelped as the hailstones were pinging off his arms that I started laughing!
Why-there *is* something comical about a man in a small car, interrupting his speech with sudden "OW!"s :D
Great vid. I remember seeing these about when I was a kid. Never imagined they would get even close to 60mph though!!! 😮
For best HubNut content, look no further than TWC. Sitting down in that cabin instantly makes the world seem like a big perilous place full of dangers... the wind throwing her all over the place, the soaked and slipping belts, the hail storm, the operator doing their best to drown her in fuel with those choke shenanigans, the massive uphills and huge lorries... but golly she delivered! Long live TWC!
It was like watching an episode of Top Gear (clarkson/may/hamster) but with £490,980 less in budget. Great stuff .
That was terrifying, and I'm just sitting in my living room.
I had to pluck up the courage to watch . That's why I'm so late lol
Even I had some " puckering" while drinking my tea and eating my jammy toast this morning😲
That was hilarious - even the smallest and most humble of vehicles can provide maximum adventure!
I have visions of a determined-looking Mr. HubNut glaring over the handlebars yelling "Come on TWC!!!" on a future t-shirt...
The Invacar is one of the most charming contraptions I've ever seen!
But it's a dangerous death trap on the roads>>
Ought to put a V8 in it...
@Robert Darnell they make that Peel P40 thing over there, microcar from Top Gear.
Something right out of Wallace and Gromit!
Urban legend has it that someone put a Ferrari engine in one and didn’t tell the owner. A great wheelie machine apparently. They of course ended up in hospital. Can’t remember whether it was due to a crash / stroke or heart attack.
Top notch content, you had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole video. Specially that part when wind starts rocking it.
That looked so scary, even on a screen... 😅
Same
Wales had it today bad especially Aberystwyth. Good to see George again and i hope Miss Hubnut's house didn't get flooded.
That wasn't belt squeal, it was the hamster complaining about its arthritis
Only those who attempt the ridiculous, achieve the impossible…. As the saying goes…
Most Excellent video!
Can’t believe I’ve only just got round to seeing this one.
I actually drove one myself once, for about ten feet.
The user, Jim, told me it gave him tremendous independence.
Back in the day… probably mid 80’s. 👍
this was the best video ever! when u hit a hail storm i was crying with laughter! you must take twc out in extreme weather more often!
Misquote from "For a few Dollars More" :-
El Paso Bank Manager:
To try driving an invacar in a stormy rainy road in Wales would be so futile that only a complete fool would attempt it.
Col. Douglas Mortimer:
Yeah. Or a complete madman!
Ha! Ha! Great fun ! HubNut. Loved it ! :-)
Fools rush in where Angels fear to tread, But all the Angels are in heaven, only about half of the Fools are dead.
@@ManicMalcolm how clever!
Man and machine in perfect harmony. That was epic. Best bit of motoring I've seen on CZcams in a while.
Thanks, Ian 😁👍
Just imagine how cold and wet you would be without TWK's bodywork and her lone little wiper keeping the floods from you.
Quite possibly the best vlog iv seen in a long time...
Loved that ride out
You are insane 😆
Well,it seemed like a good idea at the time.lol
That Invacar looks delightful, dreadful and downright frightening to drive all at the same time. Glad your're safe
There were definite similarities there with Spielberg's DUAL! At the end you sounded like you needed a cuppa, with typical British understatement having just survived a death defying feat!
oooohhhhhh i love being "in the back", its really exciting n i am always talking back to Ian. gees chronic!!!!! lol
Weather forecasters: Flooding and danger to life.....
Twc: Hold my beer......
Brave Brave Man, glad you got to where you were going, totally epic vlog!
Who needs 4 wheel drive when you got TWC. The little car did very well despite the foul weather.
23:14 So *that's* what it's like to drive through a Turner painting!
WOW! What a surrealistic comment!
Through the windscreen footage from TWC always makes me feel a bit on edge even from the comfort of my armchair. This took things to a whole new level, no need for false jeopardy on Hubnut.
Sparkrite ignition a true blast from the past. I put one on my 1974 mini 1000 and gained what seemed like 10 bhp, the timing light showed a perfectly stable flash at the right time instead of all over the place. Happy days.😎
New from K-Tel - the three wheeled shower cubicle! ;-)
I don't think I've ever laughed so much at one of your videos 🤣
Wait a minute; elderly three-wheeler, which must leak a bit at best, and has a window missing; monsoon-like weather; shorts; WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?????!!!!!!!
Hub-nutterage at its best!
Epic ! And scary , am glad Hubnut and TWC reached the destination in one piece . David Foster.
Epic journey Ian, excellent video. How riveting can it be watching a fella in an invacar, in the rain, in Wales? I'll tell you.......very riveting!
Blimey I wouldn’t have enjoyed that journey very much in my Land Rover. Hats off to you and TWC . 👍
At least when the windscreen terminally mists up in the weather, you can fold it down !
@@millomweb Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

I have watched this video many times and imo it rates as the scariest yet best video you have ever made. Long live "TUC" (and you ofc)
What fun. Thanks. As a kid, we didn’t call them Invacars, but the 70s was more brutal. Gotta say, this is exactly what a YT car story should be. Way better than some cashed up old dude taking about the old days as they trot off to some free event in Monaco. Keeping it real!
“This car feels dangerous”
It well is dangerous
Not dangerous just alive and kicking
If she can make it though that she make it though anything
I did have to laugh at own reason for the breakdowns and the hail 😂
A classic Hubnut adventure! Who else was shouting "you turned the ignition off!" I'm just glad you made it in one piece 😳
Holy moly, that was tense :o Glad you made it!
Well not much happened there did it? 🤔🙄. That's the ultimate Hubnut trip out summed up in 20 odd minutes! That looked truly terrifying😂
Mussorgsky"s Night on Bald Mountain would make an appropriate sound track to this journey / adventure.
I was hearing the 'Hebrides Overture' 😀
Id say thats is more a dramatic romantic piece 😊
@@edgarbeat275 Yes, don't disagree! But still evocative, in places, of a stormy sea such as the one Hubnut appeared to be navigating in his Invacar 😁
@@2760ade I love that 😊 hubnut is one brave soul.
Epic HubNutting! All the best ingredients for adventure. Borderline unsuitable vehicle, plus epic British summer weather. Stir in a dose of Ian's "forgetfulness" and it makes for perfection.
To misquote a famous road trip film; "It's 50 miles to the unit, it's raining, and we have an Invacar."
"Hit it!"
This has to be the best Tuk adventure since the year you got stranded on the mountain on your way back from a car show with an Invicar full of calendars.
Those poor neighbours at Rachels. They would have been sat reading the paper, listening to the birds chirping and all being well in the world. Until: ''Rrrring-ding-ding da-ding-ding-ding-ding''.....
_''Hang on.....is that?.....it sounds like.....could it be? Surely not? I thought he'd gone? Are you going to go to the window or shall I? AWWWWW fer gawwwwds sake.....he's back! Right then: you get the bags packed, and I'll prepare the advert for the property centre!''_
"'Rrrring-ding-ding da-ding-ding-ding-ding''....."
It's not Crazy Frog you know ;)
@@millomweb LOL! - _not_ Crazy Frog? Have you heard a 2 stroke Invacar struggling up a gradient with the driver feathering the throttle to stop the belt slipping? All Ian needs to complete the _''Rrring ding ding''_ look is a pair of Aviator goggles and a flying helmet!
@@WhosAGoodDogue It nearly came to the goggles and helmet ;)
TWC's not 2-stroke !
Rink, dink dink dink....
Class luv it....
@@millomweb _Not_ a 2 stroke? I thought it was. Well then! - I know the early ones were Villiers engines (as put into bikes). So, this must be the upgraded _Rrronka-ronk-ronk-ronk_ then.
I've seen on of twk's cousins today! Chugging up city Road in Sheffield. First one I've seen in the plastic for years.
Excellent. He seems to be getting a fair bit of use out of that one.
@@HubNut marvellous multi coloured paint job. Looks like he used a old sock on a stick!
really fascinating reminds me of 50 years ago when my wife and i went on our honeymoon from Stockport to lands end in a Reliant 3 wheelier
Cameras turning to look at that pudding cut 😂
Did my eyes deceive me or is TWCs old home more untidy than when she departed. Surely this is not possible!😉
It may be historically accurate to have the wiper park on the left but it makes my brain itch. 😐
When in racing mode, Ian parks it vertically to improve the aerodynamics of the car as it reduces drag.
pmailkeey does Ian have another mode other than race then? The boy is a worry. 🤣
@@robinwells8879 With TWC ? Doughnut in the snow mode.
“Lots of mountains”: gestures at gently undulating countryside ;-)
This has brightened up my day to no end. Ian sir your are a legend! Best of luck with the new unit! Look forward to seeing your next video!
Ian I've been watching you for years now, my favourite channel as it goes, you seem so much happier and more upbeat these days, fair play, make the right calls!
If I opened my bonnet and saw that ‘oil is coming out of everywhere’ I’d be terrified but not Ian.........
Tiss just a gentle anti corrosion/lubrication and total loss system.👍
With Ian that’s just a normal day🤣
So given the choice of an episode of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em
or this, I chose this. #epicwin.
Your best video, it has it all, danger, suspense, DIY, and a continuing story. You have set a new standard for vlogs.
That was brilliant! TWC sounding great on this adventure. Well done on your arriving safely 👍
Best one for a while Ian...everything but the kitchen sinl on that run...and u wd prob put that in too..if it wd fit..👍
That's some hair cut 🤣
Leave him alone
I think it's an MOT cut, everything helps.
Love the control layout - heater setting right next to identical 'kill the engine' control. "Shall we put the wipers on the left in all that empty panel space?" - " No lets put them on the right so the driver has to reach over or take his hand off the throttle".
That looked like a proper little adventure! TWC was flying along. 60mph in that thing must feel more like 150mph, especially belting along those country roads in the wet. Great video.
Have you considered that the tourists might actually be subscribers and know who you are? Not many invacars in mid Wales I'm sure. And I recognise those roads. Spent many an hour driving over them. Especially the hill road from Devils Bridge, up over the tops to Tregaron and then Lampeter and beyond.
Lol Ian that was interesting. Get labels young man.
HubNut you've excelled yourself with this video. I was literally on the edge of my seat throughout that drive! You're a better man than me - I'd have just pulled over and waited for a few hours like a coward! 😞
I was sitting down here in Barry today, watching the old storm tracker... I watched it work its way up the channel, then turn up the coast and head north and I thought to myself "Ooh Cardigans gonna get it, I bet I see this storm on HubNut later in the week." I was wrong, I saw it, later in the day!
Have to comment on the camera slipping, it's like it's turning to say "What on earth happened to your hair?!?", cos, erm, it is a bit "pudding bowl cut" if I'm honest.......... :P
Yeah, bit of a Himmler cut... 😉
Frankie Howard was a trend setter?, who would have thought. Ooer missus!.
That's the first thing I noticed ! ,maybe ian,s going for a new look,you never know !
I believe it's called a fade. Popular with young people.
@@Graham_Langley to be honest,I can't say anything bad,it looks similar to mine when all the barber's were closed and I had to do my own !😆👍

Corona cut by the Mrs, I expect.......😉
I thought the new hairstyle was quite modern, myself,
Good to see George again.
I almost "choked" on my cuppa tea when I found out why TWC stopped. My monitor is now wetter than the inside of an Invacar after driving through a rainstorm with the window down 😁
Now thats a truly british journey!

Blimey Ian, I need a cup of tea after that! Glad you both got back safe and sound. Mart.
Well done Ian! TWC didn't let you down, and you are NOT an idiot!
Even with the downpour, Hail, etc, TWC soldiered on! Always interesting when you invite us for a ride.
Hopefully you will get your vehicles on order, and properly serviced.
And very glad you made it to your destination, albeit just a wee bit damp!
Here in upstate New York it is horribly hot, and looks like it will pour. And yes I just heard thunder!
