In this video I showing how easily it is to replace side mirror glass on BMW e39 or e46.
Before you start to remove the glass out of the mirror assembly ensure
you do not have glass with heating plus auto-dimming feature. These
glasses are locked inside with tap on the bottom which you need to sliding to one side to release the mirror first.
В этом видео вы увидите как легко поменять боковое зеркало на БМВ e39 или e46
На зеркалах с опцией фотохрома снизу есть специальный лепесток для съема зеркала. Лепесток нужно сдвинуть в сторону для разблокировки зеркала, а затем просто его высунуть.

Thanks. I just broke my photochromic mirror after watching your video. Actually there is a small ring behind the mirror glass and a small know which have to be slided to unlock the glass. Thanks alot mate :)

first. As i did not know this difference i broken white plastic part of
the mechanics inside by pulling the glass like in this video and other
,,helps,,.E39-2002.
I'm sorry to hear that. I newer had a deal with autodiming mirror. Where is that clamp, outside?
This is just behind the glass, twist to lock , plastic ring. I took pictures, i can send it if you like.

Так ставятся только обычные стекла. На зеркалах с фотохромом снизу есть специальный лепесток для съема на E39 на рестайлинге. Так что не у всех одинаково.
На моей е39 не было лепестков хотя она и 2002

Это разве от е39 или е46? На моих даже форма другая

Очень полезное видео. Вопрос, почему пожелтели края старого зеркала? У меня такая же проблема
Края окисляются со временем, я думаю из-за того что на них подогрев. Я так думаю) может ктото знает лучше. 🙂

If you have an E39 , check under the mirror for a small plastic clip. You have to push it away from the vehicle so it 'unclips' itself from a plastic holder behind the mirror. Only then you can pull out the mirror. I didn't do this and almost broke the whole mechanism inside,so be careful with it. Also it was the driver's side mirror, I'm not sure if you have to do the same for the passenger side.

Don’t bend out. There’s a tab at the bottom that needs sliding to one side to release the mirror. Use a thin knife or something to slide it.

Hi guys
I have an E38 740i and the side mirror is loose for some reason I open the door panel and thought maybe the screws from inside were loose but actually it was perfectly fit when I drive on the highway the side mirror moves around not sure what to do should replace the whole side mirror or is there another solution please let me know .

Don Rafael sounds like all housing with mirror moves. If it is you probably need to replace it all or take it all apart and see what is broken inside.
