    As the owner of a 1968 Cougar XR7 since 1984 I occasionally look for models of them online but I rarely find them or they are incomplete. So finding your video was a pleasant surprise. I must say your knowledge of Cougars is very accurate also, so kudos to you.

    67, 68 Cougars are by far my favorite 60s cars. I too have both kits but have never done a comparison. Great video!!!! Thanks for sharing

    Now we are talking !! Your channel is turning into one of my favourite channels Raoul.
    I have a mint 67 annual kit that I bought a few years ago, it was still sealed when I got it. Beautiful cars.

    I have a 69 Cougar kit in my stash. I’ve always thought that the 67-68 had the best body lines. An old friend gave me the kit, cause he knew I was into building models. I didn’t know what to do with it, so I decided to make it a short track race car. I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but I have a donor kit for the chassis, and when I get around to it, it’ll come out nice

    AMT was starting to have issues by '67/'68, losing promo contracts to MPC and kit sales were dropping. Nice work.

      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 4 lety

      Didn't MPC form from a few guys that left AMT? I understand that is why the AMT 67 Barracuda and the MPC 68 Barracuda are the same tooling with just the updates to make it a 68. Both kits have the same custom parts. Thanks!

    Ralph, I had a '68 Cougar kit as a kid, and traded it for something else.

    The Model King version was an MPC Funny Car that was completely different from the AMT Body Shell.

    Great video, very useful since I've recently bought a '67 parts kit and a '67 built as a custom so you've enabled me to work out exactly what should be included on a stock build.
    Presume that second metal axle in yours is an extra since the kit is moulded with a front axle that steers?

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 4 lety

      CycolacFan Glad this one helped! I think AMT just included two axles as most of the kits needed them.

    Find a 428cj GTE model please! Lol. FYI the 427 was listed as an option in the 1969 mercury sales brochure, but none were ever produced. No XR-7 G's came with a 427, although every other engine was an option.

    Very nice video! This is my absolute favorite car. I am looking for a few parts for the 67 or 68 kit. I am going to be resin casting much of these as I have access to a company that is willing to make the molds and the resin casting. If you’re willing to part with any of the parts that you have that are extra let me know please. Also feel free to check out the video I did of a 1968 GTE that I did in the scale kit bashing a lot of different stuff to try and get it right.

      Maddog Merv It was included in the Mini Exotics resin kit.

  • @davidpenney4171

    Raoul, any chance you could cast and sell me a GT-E hood scoop? I just got one of the Kenz & Leslie '68 Cougar funny cars which originally had that scoop. I have a resin GT-E hood, but it would be easier to just glue the scoop on the funny car. Started on another stock '68 Cougar recently bought from Facebook group, so that will be my third.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 3 lety

      Sorry. Someone on eBay was selling the hood but I have not seen it in awhile.

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler Thanks. I have one of those hoods, so I'll carefully cut the hood our of that funny car and attach the resin one in its place. Btw, working on my third '68 stock Cougar, which will be another 428 CJ XR-7.

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler i posted an inquiry on Luca Cee's about re release today & got my answer from you...So naturally i scrolled through your Vids & found yours👍...i might have found a AMT 69 Cougar Eliminator today...the one that's Ford blue on the cover...its about as close as ill get & probably crappy engine detail etc.
      Cheers

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 2 lety +1

      That 69 kit really isn’t a bad kit. I like them and the build up nice. Only issue is some box arts make you think you get the 428 CJ (pictured on box)version but says Eliminator. It really has the 302 Eliminator in it.

  • @davidjohnmiller4849

    My biggest complaint is the underhood area is not anywhere accurate . More like looking under the hood of a ‘65 Galaxy . Revell puts these AMT kits to shame .

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 3 lety

      A lot of that has to do with when these kits were tooled. A lot of the annual kits from back then like these from 1967 were promos to start. Then turned into a model kit. Some AMT did a great job detailing the engine compartment and chassis and other not so much like this one. These kits have not been released since these offered last in 68. They were turned into Funny Cars and released a few times like that. Revell didn't exist for the most part back then and the kits they offer today. Most were tooled in the 80's or later!
