i know you probably just wanted the day time lighting but in night battles the enemy gets a morale penalty for "unprepared for night battle" so even if you're not trying to single an army out night battles are almost strictly better than regular battles, except for it being dark and all in game
I knew the Picts got morale buffs at night, but I didn't know the enemy got penalties as well. I've been avoiding them until now because I figure the morale buff is outweighed by my worse performance when I can't see everything as easily, but I might start doing them more, especially now that I'm fielding units with the scare trait.
That's why I think the Huns' ability to scare ALL Christian factions for -10 morale is huge. It's basically a permanent Whistling Shot penalty (somewhat) or slightly more than 3 scare penalties in magnitude. These stack with it too. One more reason to go Graeco-Roman pagan :p
@@Volcano4981 other than the fact that you can’t get a divine triumph if you go pagan. Romes tech tree and victory tree is absolutely bonkers in this one. CA certainly captured the dumpster fire of the late Roman Empire in this game lol

This is pretty much how the Picts engaged in combat with the Romans. It was always difficult for barbarian armies to field an organized army against the professional fighting force of the Roman Military Complex. So the Picts would engage in gorilla warfare by engaging the Romans in skirmishes in the hills of and mountains of Scotland. Often done while the Romans were foraging for food.
It's a shame your older videos don't have the same amount of views, they deserve it. I hope my numerous re-watches will go a ways towards rectifying that.

Yrridian stacking morale penalties is my favourite thing to do in every version of total war
