In defense of him, the goggles would do nothing to deflect the dowel! (The goggles, they do nothing!)

Fun fact, from my experience with it (I work with metal fabrication) if it gets tangled up in your shirt all the way, you will be pretty much okay. If it breaks the material, you will have a bad day. I have three scars and a number of cuts on my hands from angle grinder related accidents. The wheel with wires is the worst as far as pain goes and it also likes to jump around. Btw, two days ago I almost got killed by a broken disk. It missed my neck with a few centimeters. The other piece hit me in the face. My glasses caught it. So yeah, wear glasses. I guess
That sounds horrible and super dangerous. :s Glad to hear the glasses were protecting you

I'd love to see what that table saw can do with marbles. Although I suspect it'll lack the velocity of the stick (which kinda fires like an Atlatl).
This guy is soooooo right.I've seen only 2-3 of these "accidents".Seeing them , a circular saw grabbing my gloved hand and glancing off of my hand and 2 fingers, and this video soberingly makes me pay BIG ATTENTION to safety.
My power tool incident happened while using a miter saw when I was about 17 or so. I was using the saw to do a straight cut on a 2x4 and didn't realize my brother had used the saw that same day and unlocked it so the blade could be pulled out to cut a wider piece of wood. I don't know exactly what caused the kickback I had, but it ended with me slamming my hand straight into the side of the sawblade with enough force to bruise and cut my knuckles. Still grateful to this day that I didn't throw my hand right into the teeth of the blade. My lesson learned and a lesson for others would be to check the tools you're about to use if anyone else has access to them to make sure that they're set up properly and not fiddled with.
Names the video "This is why you need to wear safety glasses", doesn't wear safety glasses most of the video.

To be fair, short of getting yourself a full set of plate armor the angle grinder chainsaw attachment is deadly regardless of how much safety gear you are wearing. The most dangerous thing you would normally attempt to do with a chainsaw is a plunge cut leading with the tip, and with the grinder wheel version you can only do plunge cuts and the whole thing is tip, and it is even more dangerous because the angle grinder operates at much higher RPMs
I learned a long time ago to respect all power tools and they will kill you in a heart beat if you don’t respect them, I’ve gotta above all these the Jointer and the table router are truly some of the most dangerous common power tools, I’ve personally seen someone using a 8” jointer have the board hit a knot and get shot out and just absolutely mangle someone’s had which they had to have amputated due to the severity and I’ve also personally injured my fingers in the router table which is terrifying

Thanks backyard scientist for showing us a weapon for the apocalypse.
You planning on having electricity to run a table saw during the apocalypse?
Generators are a thing lol
@@Definitelynottheatf and you plan on having a bunch of fuel for that generator that you are going to use to run a table saw to use as a weapon? Refineries won't be around. Gas stations won't be around. Solar power will have one hell of a time putting out enough power to run a table saw for long. Didn't even comprehend what had happened until my hand was completely pulled into the grinder and it wound up in my glove. I was lucky and only had scratches. Always remember leather gloves, and get winterized ones if you work metal outside in the winter. Never wear gloves next to spinning tool. Table saws especially. if it grabs the glove your hand will be sucked in and gone in seconds. Without gloves you are able to pull away and lose a single finger. Rather than a whole hand.
but at the same time if it's minor and it doesn't grab you're glove you can go home scot-free
David shaw do you honestly think that a glove will protect your fingers from a piece of sharpened metal spinning at 25k+ rpm that’s designed to cut through wood and possibly metal? No your better off not using gloves. That includes circular saws and angle grinders.

When we were in high school, we found out we could use babel fish translator to translate what we wanted to search for that would have been blocked by school computers, (mostly some webcomic like bob and george) then we'd copy/paste that into google, pull up the website in german, and we'd be in. they patched it after we graduated, but not before we passed it on to future kids.

The thing with angle grinders is they're dangerous, but can be a whole lot safer if used right. Always try to use the side handle, wear a leather apron or welding jacket, use the guard, and wear gloves. My welding jacket and leather apron have saved me from getting hurt so many times. A few times a drill bit snapped and the drill slipped then got caught in my jacket, numerous times from sparks and loose wire wheel pieces, and just getting burned in general.
