My favorite quote from Dylan. "Thanks uh.. thanks for seeing me." There was real sincerity and emotion in those words. Mark really knows how to connect with people.
My heart broke when he said “I’m glad you picked me. Thanks for seeing me.”
Mark: “What’s the most important lesson you learned in life?”
Dylan: “To be quiet and just listen, because you can talk and talk and talk and talk, but until you start listening to what’s actually going on, then you won’t even know.”
I thought the bit about how to hop off the train was more inspired
Hasn't helped him much
That me. Been a fly on the wall my whole life. I prefer it that way
His vibe is super mellow.. He’s a trip , a good trip . Dillon only drinks and smokes cigarettes ?
He appears so lost 💔
20 Grand will go fast... play it smart Dillon
I know him and he's an absolute love. Genuine, compassionate, wild. The kinda guy who will stay up with you till 4am to make you laugh and comfort you when you're goin through some shit. Love ya brother 💛🌻🍄
Hey man do you by any chance know how to come in contact with him? I have a friend who may be able to be saved by this guys journey

Omg ! You too ! Now there's two of us... We should start a band dude... Stay Blessed Brother...
I deeply feel so much for this man. His story really touched me and I completely resonate with the way he feels about our society. Please Mark, do a follow up with this man. I’d love to see where he’d be in the next few months/years.
Couldn’t agree more
"I heard you on the phone, seems like people care about you." After 15 years of drugs and 5 years of homelessness.. I felt this one..
Beautiful, sensitive soul. It's not easy to survive in this society for someone who is freespirited and an empath (I know how he feels). Wishing all the best to him.
This is one of your most valuable interviews. We are injured and fed up with much about society.
More of these train hopper interviews please. Thanks as usual mark, i appreciate your work so much!
Yeah train hoppers are cool
I agree more train hopping vids.
yeah
@@aneal191 you've never known train riders if you think they're cool.
That’s not true!!! There are some damn good folks on the rails.
He is just precious. Absolutely precious. A sweet soul- almost too tender. He feels deeply and so many do not nowadays
Absolutely in love with his tenderness ❤
Which is probably one of the primary reasons he gets high
He seems very close to the edge, but he's also right about life. I wish I was as brave.
Awww. He’s not weak. He’s just gentle and seems to feel deeply. 💜
My ex-husband is the same. He's also an alcoholic.
To me he appears severely mentally ill. That or heavy drug use, probably both.
Cayla peeps like you are who placate these peoples way of life. They're savagely addicted to drugs, commit many crimes, and you buy into them.
@@Arthurian. I’m not sure how you came to that conclusion but thanks for the comment. Recognizing someone’s humanity is always a positive thing to me. Much love. ✌🏼💜
@@CrimeSceneTape on, so do you recognize Pablo Escobar, Ted Bundy, Saddam Hussein, idi Amin, Pol Pot, Stalins humanity? All were said to be wonderful to those they cared about.

I watched this last night. I can honestly say that he has such a sensitive , beautiful soul.
“i’ve been in love a lot, i love you, i love everybody ya know. all i got is love…”
this resonates with me so deeply, i honestly see a lot of myself in him. pls do more of these trainhopper interviews, these people seem so full of love and compassion.
Dylan is absolute gorgeous! His jaw is so perfectly chiseled. I love how he thinks and feels about society. He sees the world in a different way. He doesn’t have the social media crap feeding him bs. He just keeps it real. Hopefully he will reach out to his family and get on track. He has so much potential.
You do realize he is mentally ill right?? And a lot of what he was saying was mumbo jumbo he made up in his head that has absolutely no meaning. Not saying he’s a bad person or anything…. Just, yeah.
@@lilbeangrowthagreen7664 as I said “hopefully he will reach out to his family and get back on track. He has so much potential”. Just because of a mental problem or not… doesn’t justify someone can not be normal. Social Media has a huge role in mental health. Therefore, I do not believe he is suffering from his mental health. He is living a free will life. He’s not hurting himself nor anyone.
@@camoandbling sure he does have some potential, but his fam most likely booted him out cuz he prolly wasn’t taking his meds, which would result in him being outta control and doing all kinds of weird shit, causing mucho problemas.
Trust me he’s suffering big time! Anyone with any kind of mental Illness is extremely suffering. He didn’t end up a homeless train hopper cuz life was great and everyone wanted him around. Main stream society doesn’t accept him, so he’s forced into a life of seclusion and loneliness, traveling from city to city never here nor there, just a drifter a ghost.
Just my perspective. Hopefully he is good. He does kinda look like he could do some modeling maybe lol he has a interesting “look” I guess. I was gonna say he resembled side show Bob from The Simpsons.😂✌🏼
This dude is an island of experience who needs an outlet to share what he knows. It seems like lack of human interaction is killing him.
Yes it is
I think you got it all wrong; he's just a habitual liar.
He’s just off his meds. He’s fine, his dad said. He never learned to always do what Doctors provided for him. Poor dad. 🌱
Not even 🙄
@@demivydE even if he is, I think he just needs someone to listen to him.

You’re important, you’re acknowledged and you are certainly LOVED by SOMEBODY… Don’t ever think that having a small circle or being a Lone wolf means that you’re simply a castaway or statistic - In some cases, it really is better that way. Sometimes the bigger the circle, the bigger the serpents fr! 🐍💯 Keep your head up, stay safe out there. Wishing you authentic happiness, health & harmony! 🧘🏽♀️💖🕊️
It's not that the so called street kids don't want to grow up, it's that they have the minds of a child. Whether it from mental illness, drugs, childhood trauma or all of it.
Yup ... the Peter Pan syndrome
To be fair it would help us all to realize MOST of us are still children in adult bodies. Even a lot of "normal" people who are so immature they're still just children.
Maybe even none of that 💚
@@hellfirehaze well it has to come from something.
Hard to tell if hes drunk and suffering from mental illness or just mental illness. Hope he gets help and gets connected with his family soon . Good luck Dylan
I rode with Stobe the hobo once. That was the master of train hoppers. I started doing it around’98. I don’t think I even talked about it in my SWU interview. All the luck to you, Dylan
RIP Stobe the Hobo!
Wish you the best Dylan.
Shoestring is the king. Stobe was an alcoholic and got careless
@@Bill-cv1xu I can see your view too
@@Bill-cv1xu agreed
1) he could be a model 2) I think this is a lot of untreated major depressive disorder 3) if you’re being choked, defend yourself- it’s fighting your human nature and primal instinct to not. I pray you always stay safe, and pray you go home to your mom even though you think you won’t be happy there. You don’t seem happy here or on the streets/trains either.
I’ve been Watching a lot of these interviews particularly involving the homeless and train riders. One thing is very evident and that is we need to do better for our mentally ill people.
Mentally ill is a man made word. Nobody is ill mentally, they just choose a different road
I traveled for four or five years in the late 90s, pretty much 100% of the people I met started out running away from poverty, sexual and physical abuse, and parents with their own mental problems, substance problems, Ect. Pretty much none of them had any kind of positive relationship with any family members. Eventually I quit because I was just traveling from city to city getting high and not really experiencing the places I was going.

I have this feeling that you live in a heavily guarded bubble and are easily taken advantage of.
I agree with you jessica
@@btnhl no you're not lol
If you were you wouldn't say things to get false sense of gratification. You would actually seek him out and "help" him.
@@Arthurian. you hit it girl. It’s all just self gratifying drivel. If she wanted to help, there is no shortage of “Eddie’s” to help. It reminds me of my daughter in college. She was ranting about how more disadvantaged kids should be given a seat in college. I agreed with her, then I asked her to give her seat to that disadvantaged kid. She had a completely different view when she had to put some skin in the game.
Dylan is so similar to Michael Hutchence!
Obviously his looks but even his facial expressions.
I thought the same.
Exactly what I thought too.
Yep
Saw it too. I hope he finds his way, whatever way that is.
I heard you on the phone
Seems like people care about you.
Everyone needs good friends 💯
People care about you if you take the time to care about them. It is not a 100% ROI in every case but you get enough back over time.
I totally relate to you Dylan - the pain inside changes us. Don't ever forget you're a compassionate, intelligent human being. Dylan, if you're watching - You are a Rockstar! Take care of yourself and let others help you. Truly. Find your safe space and build your universe around that. Let others help you. Doing so saved my life. I care so much. Please don't die. I want you to live to tell more of your inspiring stories.
There’s a pretty great photographer by the name Mike Brodie who documented his 10+ years living & riding trains from his late teens to late 20’s. His book, ‘A Period of Juvenile Prosperity’, is one of my favorite photo books of the last 10 years. He received some acclaim early in his traveling by posting images on the internet, which he shot using a Polaroid, and became known as the Polaroid Kid. Then started using a 35mm & his images & compositions only got better. It’s an interesting book, and lifestyle, and it astutely captures a lost part of a romanticized American subculture, though like most things romanticism, the very dark realities get glossed over. He got the title of the book from another train hopper, and it very much coincidences & speaks to what this gentleman here has portrayed in this interview.
I'm watchin the interview right now.

It's very easy to lose your mind when living on the streets.

Can totally see him rockin the LA band scene. He's tired, but is free in his own way.

A soul from another era & time . Sensitive and thoughtful . I just get that feeling he I’d running away from himself . I’m not sure if it’s mental illness or alcoholism ? He could be a great friend to so many people . But I feel he’s lost in a world that’s so unkind and overwhelming for him to handle . I wish I could go save him . Give him a chance that he deserves .
You and me both.
I think hes very inebriated here
@@mysticmama740 No, that's emotions taking over.
He seems to be one of those people that feels things so deeply that it affects him . He's adorable.
"I heard you on the phone. Seems like people care about you.." the way he said it tugged on my heart strings , man.
I think he was on the right track but, something went wrong and all it take was one little mistake! Go to the Caribbean and you will heal from these pain. Sometimes all we need is just a simple life to change things.
He is smart and has manners and still has his mind. The right mind. I'm praying he finds his purpose !
He’s so young , I wish he gets well and can find more positive things in life to live for . ❤
Umm he’s in his thirties lol
I understand the concept of waking up dead. My husband died in a motorcycle crash, and I've always wondered what that was like for him.

Something about Dylan seems... like he’s not being totally honest about something...
Fascinating! More train hoppers - best of luck Dylan !
To me, he’s the definition of an anarchist. Nothing wrong with that, but it seems that he needs a person, a mate, friendship.
He’s a complete empath and I can see (and feel) how society eats him up. Perhaps this is why he fits in this lifestyle? Interesting fellow. Wish him well.
He's a hippie who thinks he's a revolutionary.
Empaths aren't a thing.
It is something only believed in by codependent stricken people.
@@Arthurian. wait. People who are highly sensitive and who have a keen ability to empathize with people around them don’t exist? I’m not talking about some 6th sense, but as someone who simply has the ability to empathize.

Dylan is conflicted because he’s free spirited, and that makes him misunderstood. He has the heart of an explorer. I’m so excited to hear that you were in New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA) Mark. I’m from Louisiana and I live in Alexandria, LA. And you’re not a puxxy Dylan. You’re a kind and intelligent person. Even lambs defend themselves if they have to.
I felt his loneliness 😢 before he said he was lonely 😩 and didn’t have friends
This is a deep heart. Dylan I wish the best for you. Stay away from any drugs, beat to your own drum and get a guitar and play my guy!!
I love this guy. He is amazing. We see you Dylan. God bless you !
Such a sweet guy. I wish him the best. 💛💛
It would be really interesting to hear an interview from the view point of his family., Mom, brother, grandparents etc. He says he comes from money yet he's the only one in his family who lives this lifestyle and has always felt like he didn't fit in. I'd be very interested to see how his upbringing shaped him as the human being he is today. I pray he finds happiness and peace in his life
I understand exactly what is hurting him.... he understands the difference between human nature vs the human condition. Everyone else thinks this is our nsture. No. This is our condition.... we are pretty messed up but we can get better. We just need to value truth and love and freedom more.
Nailed it
💯
I appreciate the time and consideration put into this recording. Dylan is a beautiful person. I felt a part of myself want to feel the freedom he experiences in his lifestyle without the pain. We can’t have one without the other is the bummer. I admire his love and ability to live free even if the pain is there. We try to live within a barrier of protection, but it gets harder and harder. Dylan and Mark, thank you for sharing. Much aloha.
Some people are just nonviolent and that's ok. I used to think everyone had to be tough but i don't see it that way anymore. I think those who are tough should look out for the people who are nonviolent because they are fortunate to be that way and they should stay that way.
I would not feel fortunate lol. My ability to fight is one of m uh favorite tools.
I really like this guy, he's very thoughtful and insightful and intelligent.
i’m only eight minutes and fifty three seconds in and i’ve been fighting the very strong urge to stop and comment this entire time: and him admitting he wanted to be a famous writer just cracked me. that was the final nail for me. so many things he’s said and mannerisms he has and just the way he is - i see me in him. with a heart that is bleeding SO vigorously, you start to feel weak. it’s so strange how life and experience takes us down different paths. one decision, maybe two; a turn here, a turn there - and we are in completely different places. it’s funny. we all start out as babies, hoping for a nurturing nest to fly from. we all start with a dream, whatever it is. mine was to be a famous writer, too. i am his same age, and i’m sitting here, writing in my journal, music playing, candles lit, watching my almost two year old son finger paint alongside me. i never dreamt that my creative endeavors would come to fruition here, at this point. this is simply just where my journey is RIGHT NOW and that can and does change with the snap of a finger, in the blink of an eye. he’s hopping trains, i am raising a baby. in a nurturing nest from which to fly with HIS own dream. i wonder where we will all be in two weeks, five years, ten…. thirty years. it’s life. it’s raw and gritty and it’s brilliant and it’s heart fracturing and staggeringly magical. i wish you the best of it all, dylan. never stop expressing yourself in all the ways you do. your energy matters on this earth, and in whatever comes next for all of us.
PS: when you get the money from your inheritance, buy yourself a new guitar. your dad would want you to. 🤍

He is such a beautiful soul.. I wish him all the luck in the world
I’m pretty sure he’s in some kind of state of psychosis. He keeps going in and out of reality and then something else that’s in his mind… which is psychosis.
Poor guy… 😢
I love watching interviews with travellers 🎉
Clearly a liar and narcissistic. Attacked and arrested for no reason? No one is as nice as him? He's iust this lost beautiful soul and the chaotic world around him is falling apart?
If you ever been homeless or hanging around train hoppers some will definitely just freak out and do shit randomly. Also in small town nowhere if your a homeless train hopper and flying a sign or trying to hitch hike out of town you would definitely be arrested for "doing nothing".
I feel for Dylan. He's just Rainbow Kid who can't stand everyone being horrible to each other constantly and that shit wears!
I totally get what he’s saying about Babylon, everytime I leave LA for the country and come back, I feel it heavy
His artistic musings remind me of interviews with Jim Morrison. Living in his own universe, what is truth what is illusion?
Emotional highs and lows like a rollercoaster
I think with great wealth comes with a void that is hard to feel. Dylan chose this lifestyle likely because it feels like he is filling some parts. He is really funny, and I would really enjoy hearing more from him.
I used to ride trains when I was little in my hometown of hazard Kentucky. My cousin jumped off backwards too and the immediately flew backwards and cut his head on the rocks

He's soo insightful. I really resonated when he talked about Jesus Christ being the son of God and then he said, aren't we all? And then went on to say that we should all live like that. Dylan is definitely beyond his years. An old soul perhaps
He just said what all western hippies say which they've adopted from eastern religions
Wow I knew Dylan for years he's from a really rich area in Orlando, FL. This makes me sad for him. Hope he finds his way back. His brother Dustin is a sweetheart too.

What I have learned over the past five years is that you can be in a rat race whereever you are. Its the persons personality and spirit that makes them live someone grand, unique life. For instance, take van life, you can literally live in a van and not go anywhere. Sit in your van, drink coffee, eat food and go on your phone. Or...you can go travel and do a bunch of cool stuff. You can live 9 to 5 and hate your job, or you can do a 9 to 5, and have a bunch of hobbies outside it that fills you up. Its not the life thats soul sucking, its that people dont really know themselves. You have to find the life that works for you.

Hey Mark glad to hear that your daughter is a fellow 🦆🦆!! I just wanted to weigh in on What gentleman said regarding fetty being legal in Eugene. Here in OR all drugs have been decriminalize as long as you have just a using (personal) amount on your person. Most likely if he got caught with a very small amount on him they either thought it was meth and just let him go because it was a negligible amount. Nowadays you would get a ticket and/or a referral to treatment if you could not afford that ticket. It was Probably a smaller amount and if he was caught with it the cops just didn’t care because they know he’s a train hopper he’s not going to be in town in a week anyways.
