- Coming hot on the heels of the GameCube launch EA decides to test the waters with a port of its Playstation 2 hit SSX, remastered as SSX Tricky.

I had SSX Tricky on gamecube when I was a teenager and liked playing it a lot. I had no idea it was a bad port lol
I should say, a bad port doesn’t make for a bad game! Tricky on GameCube is still great! Just a shame they cut so much content.
I do agree that the GameCube version was a port that needed more time in the oven. The core experience is there, but playing the PS2 version for months, and then playing the GameCube version…it was tough dealing with the inconsistent framerate. Even in my review for this game, I had to really highlight that it’s a big part that takes away from the experience. Otherwise, the game is a dang near masterpiece. It’s follow up though, SSX 3, clearly had the time to be fully optimized! Great video man!

SSX Tricky & SSX 3 are still amazing games no matter what system you play them on.
I had absolutely no idea that the PS2 was the definitive version, I spent my entire life playing GameCube. Going to try it out now! Thank you~
Definitive would probably be a close call between the Xbox and PS2. The Xbox would have sharper graphics with some extra effects, 16:9 and 480p output. But the PS2 controller might be preferred by most.
Fantastic video, very interesting to learn about the compromises made for the gamecube port. Tricky was a childhood favorite. One the the best character select menus ever.

Blows my mind this series hasn't come back. Steep and Riders Republic has the basics but something like this online f2p could do something

Tricky was my first introduction to SSX as a series when I had it on GameCube
Had loads of fun playing it with my older siblings when we were younger
Shame knowing now on GameCube was poorly optimized and many cut content was absent

Had no idea the PS2 version was the definitive version of the game. I grew up playing the GameCube version (still my preferred version), never got to try the Xbox port of it.

I popped in my childhood copy after watching this and I have some thoughts:

I am…very envious of how quickly your channel has gotten into the algorithm and you’ve started getting massive views way way past what mine has been getting, but the videos are good so I get it, keep up the good work!
this channel has given me a sort of existential crisis. If there is this level of content with this few views/subs, comparatively, what else am I missing from creators that haven't been signal-boosted by the algorithm?!
Loved this game on my Cube except after extended play sessions that tiny and sharp d-pad would give some painful blisters.

God I loved SSX as a kid

I have never played SSX Tricky but I'll admit I am just not a Snowboarding games kind of guy haha. They don't really do anything for me
The best part was there was no grind button. You really had to land on rails. You could also do wall rides by angleing the board. And dont get me started on the best and final level where its an actual mountain. The third game sucked compared to this one and killed the series for me.
Whoever is playing in this this footage doesn’t really seem to have a grasp of how to do tricks in this game it seems.
