Have air suspension on my truck also. I mounted my compressor in the cab behind the rear seat to keep it out of the weather. It's actually pretty quiet with the seats absorbing the sound
Also next time when you compress bag just put a pipe plug in it, like holding your finger on a straw it will stay compressed
Nice video. I have used Air Lift bags since 2005 with no issues.
Nice job I never would of done it myself hats off
Bags make a huge difference! All trucks should come with them
News flash ram 3500 already does!
He said trucks!
Thank you. Very informative.
You could use vacuum line or hose on those bolts. And you could put spiral wire loom cover on the brake line. Great video as usual.
Love the video and the truck, upgrades are looking good! 👍
Great video as always. Personally I'm mixed on air bags in general, I had the Firestone ride rite set on my RAM 2500 to help squat issues when trailering. I ended up removing them after we sold off our camper; the empty ride was way too bouncy for my liking. If I end up needing air bags again i'm going to try airlift.
I just installed firestone ride-rite air bags today on a 2006 F350 duallie, towing upto 26K lbs, the ride was very uncomfortable and my back was taking a beating!! i had to remove my wheels for the install, since i have to remove the factory bump stops to use that location. Great video.
Those Dewalt drills are awsome have the same one that came with an impact as well
Air bags are a fantastic investment for any truck. Even if you don't tow near the maximum weight, they help with body sway and keep your headlights from blinding oncoming drivers.
Instead of zip ties. Compress and plug the air hole.
As always, loved the video!
mrdeath212: thank you sir
Beautiful truck
Good video and a good job
That was a pretty bold move using a drill that close too the bag's, we used a huge zip tie around the entire assembly. With the capability of the truck I don't know how much the airbags are going too do. Can't wait too see you slam some heavy load in the bed
Great job man love my 7500s, 50psi and my 5000lbs camper doesn't squat a lick.
TShull: thanks brother!
You're dangerously close to a face reveal, amigo. Haha. Thanks for another interesting video.
You could put a tiny piece of tubing in the bag, sit on it, then put a vacuum port cover over it, it should hold it compressed for a few minutes
Great video . Hope all is well
Sweet!

Thank goodness there's pictures....LOL
I've had that same brand on my 2014 Ram 2500 that I pull my 5th Wheel Toy Hauler and dbl tow trailer with 2d TH. They have worked great the whole time 30,000+ miles. I could live without them, but I off-road Moab etc all the time and they make the truck very solid. Imho
Love the system just wished they allowed an aux port for airing tires.
You could have used a larger zip tie to compress the air bags instead of drilling the brackets. And used a valve stem to hold them shut.
thats 1 nice truck ...
F-150 KING OF TRUCKS: thanks brother
Great suggestion to use the zip ties to decompress the bags for install. Really nice looking truck.
Big Like 👍🏽🙂.
A week ago I had 4WP in Orlando, FL install a set on my 2016 F-350 dually. They didn't install the heat shield because the clamps that came with the kit #57596 were too small to fit around the exhaust pipe resonator. They didn't tell me nor did they give me the heat shield. I ended up ordering the heat shield on Etrailer, and have the same issue. One of the Etrailer reps (David) is going to contact Air Lift to see if a special set of clamps to fit the 2016 F-350 exhaust resonator is available.
Wow while the Rancho shocks are not to bad, if I had to remove them? I'd have added the best adjustable shock I could get! Or at least Bilstein!
Great video as always. Do these bags affect the unloaded ride quality of the truck? Running minimum pressure
Love you Videos! Would this air bag system be real helpful if your pulling a large 5th Wheel? I know the Dully and at least a 250 with a preference to a 350 configuration and I think I have been told Diesel is preferred over gas engines? Thanks Bill M
Great video, I watch it before and had to watch it again. I just bought a 2018 3500 and thinking about installing air lift bags on my 3500, did you ever get leak when you had them, did the 72000 wireless remote ever start up from time to time? Thank you for your reply.
Good video, those bags aren't massive though should just put big rig ones on.
Big Truck Big Rv. Love your videos, but I was wondering, Specially why did you install these air bags, what did you want to accomplish beyond the stock F350?
Nice truck
YzFor: thank you
Hello my friend. Will you be putting plastic tubing around the wires that are exposed to the elements? I noticed you left them exposed. The plastic tubing I'm talking about is the one that has the split in it so that it can be wrapped around your completed wiring. Some of it is on your battery wiring from the factory. I hope my description makes sense.
How do you about the ride with the bags on did it smooth out the little road bumps that were being transferred to the cab. enjoy
Cool vid and I don't have a pick up or a 5 wheel but you vids are grate and can you do a face revell please☺👍
A different suggestion for compressing bags in add about a foot of airline and compress the bag, then fold over the line and pinch with vicegrips. The bag shouldn't expand unless the line or quick connect leaks. I hate those electronic control systems. I have 1999 f250 and i just use a height control valve for a class 8 truck. Add a load and it always keep the right height. I think I paid $45 for a delayed HCV. No electronic failures here
So looking at grabbing 2017 F350 DRW and want to know what RPMs your running with the 4:10 vs. 3:55 rear end. Also what the highway mileage looks like with and with out a load ( pull a 40" 5ver). I only tow about 10% of the time.
Any experience with adding the leveling kit with the Airlift airbags? I've got an 2018 F350 duelly hauling an 16k gooseneck Grand Design. I'm temped to add the leveling kit & 5000 ultra bags but afraid I might get some positive rake when hooked up.
For keeping the bag compressed couldn't you block the air line thus the vacuum effect would keep it compressed?
Can you put air bags in the front on 2018 F350? For smoother ride ?
that's gotta be the tiniest air compressor ever? I guess I've been spoiled with my friend installing complete air ride systems for custom vehicles that use much better compressors. I just don't think it would last especially in weather conditions either snow or saltwater areas
Great video! I have the same truck that I am putting a 5200lb truck camper in so it squats a bit. I want the same airlift bags you have. Does your truck have the factory fifth wheel prep package? I want to make sure the bags will fit because my truck has the prep package. Thanks!!
What brand and model compressor kit you use, looks like a nice one.
Nice job bro, Nice video to
PersianKing: thanks
:)
A little off topic: Ever go to Port Aransas or Padre Island? I really want to visit next summer, hope there is not too much damage from Harvey. Of course the news only shows the worst of the worst, here's hoping the beaches have been spared.
gary usher: Padre Island is fine, Port Aransas is totally destroyed. was just there working.
I have a question for you if you don't mind answering it. Do you have the fifth wheel prep on this truck? I was wondering this because I want to install these on my 2017 F350 but I have the fifth wheel prep for my camper but the Airlift website says it does not work with fifth wheel
I have exact same truck was thinking of doing bags. Do they change the ride quality of unloaded truck? My previous truck was an 08 Ford f450 and ride was horrible like a tank when it was unloaded.
Now put 5,000 ibs of water bottles in the back of it.
Hey I just bought a 1992 fifth wheel and am going to be pulling it with my 2015 Ford F-150. I was thinking about putting air bags in the truck but a buddy of mine said to stay away from them because a buddy of his put then on his dodge then aired up and after one trip with the trailer apparently he bent the frame of his truck. Is this possible or just a bunch of bs? Should I get airbags and if so what would you recommend?
What is the total travel range (lift) relative to psi?
2 things, instead of using electrical tape i would suggest using some electrical shrink wrap tubing on the bolts i have used this many times before and it works and looks great. Sometimes i will shrink a layer on the bolt and then put a second one on and shrink that one down doubling the thickness of protection the bottle jack the cradle is on the part of the hitch receiver it is able to shift since the angle of hitch now slopes upward it would be safer if you had positioned it further forward on the other side of horizontal part of hitch. it wouldn't take much for it to move if slightly bumped. on that same note the concrete looks pretty smooth i would put some kind of rubber pad or jack base under jack to give it a better grip against concrete an old floor mat would even work. I do not know of ANY hydraulic jack manufacturer that would recommend using their product as a means of support while working under vehicle if the bottle jack released or slipped the frame would drop before tires and suspension would stop the fall i know it wont fall to the ground but the space you are working in will get rapidly smaller possibly smashing hands or head. you should also be using and showing wheel chocks both in front of and behind the front tires without anchoring the front wheels to ground it greatly increases the chance that the vehicle could move bringing the jack from its vertical position and causing it to fall and with no jack stands to support truck your chances of being hurt or killed just putting jack stands beneath the frame on each side will prevent the frame from dropping more than an inch should the jack fail. Be safe!
Randy D I
Yeah, I saw that bottle jack assembly and cringed! It is neat, but wouldn't take much to squish a guy
Ogre Dad: even if it failed i wasnt in an area that would crush me. It only raised the truck about 3-4 inches from the suspension so i could slide the bags in.
Big Truck Big RV but when you put those sulastic shackles in your uncle Dodge 1500 or whatever it was you were not supporting The frame and you have the axle and springs disconnected from the truck my point was if that Jack would've slit even after only having to raise three or 4 inches if you were reaching into something when that happens the results could be bad
www.f4tape.com/ -- much better than electrical tape, used it all the time on aircraft.
Question: what kind of watch is this? That you are wearing in this video?
Can you get the six inch dia bags and what would be the approx cost of such a kit ?
Nice jack, what's the name of that jack? and were can I buy one just like it ?
I just wana know the price list of the truck and if I can get it as a right hand drive since USA its Left hand drive
Would these be good for a 2020 f350 doing heavy haul hot shot???
Got a question I just got a new truck 2017 3500hd high country duramax who ever had the truck had them im looking at a set I'm leaning towards 7500xl or the 5000 still don't know
What do u run the psi at in them just wen driving not towing
Why not get the self leveling version so you don't have to bother with setting pressure
How long did it take to lift from low & vice versa?
Any chance you could do a video of your Viper system and how it interacts/interferes with the Ford factory stuff?
Fred Crews: probably not. I dont like giving away security information. Ill say that it did add additional sensors and enhances the factory system significantly
Big Truck Big RV that's understandable, thanks for the info!
What's your personal opinion on deleting the "def"?
Does the ride of the truck get rougher as the pressure is raised?
Will these fit on a 2018 f250 long bed?
Are those air bags only supported on the bottom by the bump stop bracket? If used continuously there should be a connection to the axle. It is not meant to support weight especially in a live load with differing weight values when supporting load. No different than building code that states load must have path to ground. Don't depend on screws or nails to support structure. No different with a truck traveling down the highway with a load sharing the space with others.
Couldn't the zip ties be routed over the entire top rather than drilling holes?
A better idea. Hook up a vacuum pump to the air bag and pull the air out to compress it.
compress the bag and cap it. no need to drill holes.
I am not spending 75k on a truck and then have to add air bags!!! It's a freaking 350 dually!
For 75k it should have auto leveling head lights!!
Andy Hass how much you think it cost to make one of those trucks?
If you had bought a ram you could have got factory integrated air bags....
I am looking at a 2006 ram 1500 single cab as my first truck. The reason I need a truck is because started a lawn care company with a friend. Is this a good idea with the single cab and all? The truck is 6,500 with 120k miles
AJ9: price seams about right. be sure to have a mechanic inspect it
How is the clean up in you eara of texas going from hurrican harvey?
captianjessie1: slowly but its coming along.
I installed but it show fall on the screen why
Nice, I much prefer this truck over the red one as far as looks. just sayin, as always to each is own. This is the one that had the rattle in the sun roof right? I've been a Ram guy and still prefer the power train of the Ram. However there is much more to consider when making a purchase. Such as how you think you will use the truck for one. Having said this, I hate the idea of having to remove the cab to do any serious engine repairs on the Ford. Never the less You have made me much more open minded, when it come to other brands, as I have learned more from you and you're opinions. I recall I accused you of being bias to Ford's a few years ago. Having now said this I think this would be the appropriate time I should probably apologize for my bias and my ignorance. lol
What is part 2?
Here we are now in 2020 with your experience with the wireless system how would you say it works, i just purchased the 7500xl for my 17 F350 and I've heard some issues with the remote not working, very sporadic
Mine worked great in my F350 (this video) because the module was much closer to the cab of the truck. My current truck has range issues unless I'm controlling it from outside and towards the back. Other than that, no issues.
I’m trying to decide between these and the 5000 with the jounce. Does your truck ride the same as before when you’re running 5 psi unloaded?
I had the same question . . . the jounce seemed like a nice option. Too bad he doesn't seem to have time to answer these questions on older videos.
But why? I have the same truck and tow a 42' fifth wheel with minimal squat. I.e. The rear is still higher than the front...just curious.
beau w what's the 5er's weight?
Will this work on a E350 super duty camper (22)ft.
Jerry Ray Hamburg most likely but call aitlift to be sure
Just thought I would ask your opinion on a good quality brand of air bags for my silverado 1500 to help with pulling my TT. Thx Brian
Living The RV Life: I'm a huge fan of Airlift. Also, might want to look into Timbrens
yeah researched them and they seem nice but i was researching are they ok to use with a WD hitch or will it be worse?
Why not just use a hand held vacuum pump to compress the bags?
Orval Stuckemeyer: this works better
What lower leg adapter did you use? Says to measure diameter of axle but that gave the talest adapter and that doesn't sit even
I'm pretty sure I used the shortest leg.
@@BigTruckBigRV thank you I used shortest one too, im almost done installing, but I did the math they recommended and it didn't make sense. Lol thanks you for your time . Awesome Channel
Hello where can I Oder for a 2019 ford 350
Leave the install to PRO's and stop hacking up well designed products. Keep up the good work with the clean up. GOD BLESS TEXAS!
j. s.: just me, i did a better job than most "pro" installers.
Big Truck Big RV I doubt that a pro would drill a NO DRILL KIT!
How are the EXO Grapplers AWTs? I just ordered a set
Hilary Fort: Love them! best on/off road tires I had!
Alright, I have to know what that knife is you used to open the box. I love wharncliff designs.
Peter Haynos: just an Ontario RAT
Sweet dude, gonna have to check them out! Thanks!
Why dud you go from an F450 to an F350? The 350 is not a wide track truck...
13th!
Who still puts a VIPER sticker in the window?
Don't go near that truck!!! It's protected. LoL
Jim: the people who install Vipers put Viper stickers..... Just sayin
Deep Thoughts
Second
Is the ride more comfy?
Ricardo Arevalo: at 5-15psi, its unchanged
I imagine its unchanged at the lower pressures because its still riding on the leaf springs at that point?
Excellent Job. I am looking at a F-450 Diesel P-U Crew Cab. I called my Insurance Co. to get a quote. (Ca-Casualty) Been with them for 40 years. They told me that their list only goes to a F-350 & can't insure a 450. To me that seems ridiculous but guess they have the last word. You have had a 450 before, may I ask your advice on getting a F-450 Insured. It is not for business just pleasure.
Idaho Rider
heck im trying to insure a f350 cab and chassis model but not having any luck so far. the bigger trks need commercial policies is what ive heard even its for personal use. i think its a joke for me its still a f350 just a flatbed instead of a pu trk bed. i can haul a scetchier load in pu bed vs a flatbed
Idaho Rider I ran into this problem even for the F-350 trucks. Most standard insurance companies (State Farm, Gieco, Allstate etc...) only go as high as F-250 for "personal use". They call my F-350 commercial and won't insure it. This recently happened, I'd say in the last two years. I've never had this problem before. It's ridiculous.
I had a 450, and all the insurance companies I called would insure it, but it is rated as a commercial vehicle. So it's much more expensive. I just traded in a 2008 F-450 for a 2017 Ram 3500, and my insurance went DOWN by $40 per month.
Going out on a limb here and saying you might be stuck with taking out commercial insurance if you can not find a company that offers personal for that size truck, if you do find one, make sure before you sign the papers to read through and you get all the coverage you may need or require just in case.
@@CR500R Allstate insured my 2018 F350 and my bill went up $20 a month from my 2009 GMC 1500.
I don't think this system would work in the Northeast Winters snow salt etc
Your truck would be very useful now for carrying supplies to the effected areas of hurricane Harvey right?
He actually lives in corpus about 20-30 minutes from port Aransas and rock port that got hit and destroyed. and he has a video on here of his last truck with two full pallets of water going to help another cause, i am sure he will do it again
I'm sure he's done more than we have here in the youtube comments. It's great that some people in Texas are getting back to normal life.
Ill be helping transport loads hourly to impacted areas. Im also on an ERT and working in the impacted area.
+Big Truck Big RV, that's great to hear! BIG TRUCK = BIG HELP FOR HARVEY VICTIMS! AWESOME! 👍👍🇺🇸
That's awesome
Why are you adding these airbags on a gorgeous truck designed to carry heavy loads from the factory?
CirclePFarm
To carry more and ride better
@@lettstim1474 Can't exceed GVW from factory. If you do and there is an accident even if it is not your fault. After the lawsuit, you won't own anything.
First! :D I know I know, but I couldn't help myself.
wow this is way simpler than just compressing the bag and putting a pipe plug in place of the airline fitting ....🙄🤨
considering there is no way to put a plug in place since it's a quick connect female connection.....it wouldn't be simpler
Something I don't understand is why you spent the money on the product & the labor when you had the air bags put in your F450 just to turn around and trade it in not even a month later. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to spend probably close to a grand on something to just get rid of it and buy another set of air bags again for your New truck.
sirkingdra: 30 days money back guarantee on the kit. Was able to trade in for the new kit at no additional cost. I did the labor myself (which i enjoy). Plus reused the wireless controler and compressor. Make more sense?
Thank goodness for return policies.
