- What I Did in RIGA IN 24 HOURS
Join me as we discover the amazing city of Riga.
We set off from the city centre and made our way to the enchanting old town of Riga.
On the way, we strolled along the famous Art Nouveau District, met the locals and explored the beauty the city has to offer.
Riga's old town is a real fairytale; we discover why the city was a popular movie set during the Soviet era.
No city experience would be complete without visiting a local market and today we visited two. The Riga Central Market and the Agenskalns Market where we had an amazing food experience.
We end our day indulging in local delicacies and top it off with an amazing folk experience at the famous Folksclubs Ala.
If you enjoy adventure videos from the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, then grab your vodka, some zakusky and join me as we discover the amazing city of Riga in 24 hours.

As a born and raised Latvian, I'm astonished by your latvian and knowledge about our culture and history. I feel you've come here a lot, and I hope to see you here again and again. Keep up the good work !
Incredible video. So interesting to see how beautiful Riga truly is! ❤🇱🇻
Thank you so much, i really appreciate the nice comment! 👍🙂
What a brilliant video! Absolutely amazing places shown, loved the concept of this video - very dynamic! Greetings from us!
I love you channel. Your latvian becomes so better. I am very proud that u honor our country. If I didnt so much work I would love to drink some Moonshine with you ;)
Thank you my friend for such a kind and supportive comment.
If you find the time for some moonshine, let me know👍👍👍
Riga is beautiful, tnx for sharing
It really is... Thanks for watching mate
20:45 😂 It’s never boring in Riga. I like how you communicated in mashup of different languages as if it’s completely normal. 😂
Quince lemonade is very nice. We used to grow quince and make the syrup ourselves. It’s very popular.
And Tarhūns - taste of my childhood. I think I haven’t drunk it since I was 12 or something like that. I really need to go and visit these places once I’m back in Riga!
These videos are so great! I think even locals should watch them because even we dont know some of the places you show on your videos. Thank you for the amazing content!
Thank you mate, that means a lot .
Plenty more to come, so stay tuned👍
Locals are watching 😂✋
trust me locals are here ;)
Same- very very happy He’s on this part of the World and showing Bits by bits - Im Happy brother , thanks for the Enthusiasm Justiiin 💪🏽🥃🥃 cheers
Justin, I swear, you can make any city look like a tourist paradise. Great videos, having lots of fun watching them and I can't wait to visit some of those places.
Hi Justin, your video came one day too late. I took Luxexpress today, Vilnius to Tallinn with my wife. We had a 30 min stop in Riga, just enough time to buy some shprot at the market, and continue our route. I hope I can make it another time to Riga. Nice to watch your videos, always!
Visited twice already this year , Coming back to visit in June, Love the place, Really like the market ,Found the people to be real friendly to us brits, Love the food and beer.
If you can visit in 23th and 24th of June, it's midsummer ir Latvia, and everyone is celebrating
That was another amazing video from you Justin. It is not easy to came across anyone who is able to speak yiddish. And the russian girl speaking with an Irish accent was another marvelous thing.
Hi Justin I saw many videos of Riga from you, thank you for a great contents I will visit Riga in 3 weeks really looking forward to it. Thank you for giving tip and tricks.
Glad I met you the other night, thanks again for making great content. Hope you had a fun night out. I got stung by the taxi at the airport once. I flew in late at night, bolts kept cancelling on me for a half an hour, they didn't want to drive out of town, and no bus, I asked about the taxi, they said the same thing 20-25 euro and it was only about 7 or 8 euro more than bolt quoted me.....
So I took a taxi to the quiet center.... they tried to charge me 80 euro for a 15 minute drive.
Likewise mate, was a real pleasure.
They will try it on, that is why I try to inform people so they want to come again... Trying to resuscitate tourism here🤪
Yep,. My visit to the Corner House during the winter time left chills up my spine. It is a good thing they left the paint in the corridors peeling and in derelict state from the Soviet era; it elevates level to the next step the trauma of just to be there. But by the same token, it would be inappropriate to sweep the history of the place under a carpet. Additionally, at the time of my visit, the rear courtyard was frozen over with ice. It was dangerous to try to walk down the concrete steps to get a closer look at the courtyard itself.
Originally Agenskalna market was built before Soviet occupation. It wasn’t built by Soviets.
Open since 1898, Āgenskalns Market is the largest and oldest market on the left bank of the Daugava River and holds the status of a national cultural monument.
Hey Justin, love your videos mate. I'm a Latvian who resides in London. Fascinating to be living in London and watching a brit exlpore the areas I grew up in. Hope to run into you one day and buy you a beer!
During the school time i was really into history but i did not even know these facts about Riga. That is amazing!

Loved the whirlwind tour! So much fun and good food to be had in Riga. I get such a kick out of you being recognized by your viewers. Uldis was my dad's oldest brother's name.
It was my dad’s name. I think it’s such a masculine, strong and nice name.

I had never considered traveling to Eastern Europe until I came up with your channel, You see, here in Mexico you don't really hear about people going to those amazing countries, so they sadly go unoticed for most of us. And as I'm typing this comment I realize I could've wrote it in Spanish and you would've understand it hehe. Saludos desde Tijuana, México Justin! Gracias por el contenido!

Mārtiņa Beķereja, a legendary place
@@ok-vk9fv Thanks mate. Now that you mention it, I am familiar with the chain. Latvia's oldest patisserie. 👌

Next time go to the klusais centrs especially Antonijas street and the restaurant Lidojošā varde. For me that’s the best Riga
Thanks for the advice, i will try it next time!! 👍😃
Great vid, looking at visiting Riga in September.
Will be my first time.
What flight would you recommend?
Air Baltic or Ryanair from the UK?
Thanks.
You have a new subscriber. :)
Thank you so much mate... I appreciate the support.
Air Baltic is better as an airline and getting to Stansted for Ryanair is also a pain... But that depends where in the UK you are.
I would choose Ryanair
@@J.E.E Booked a return from gatwick on air baltic.
Was arkward on ryanair, being based in the Channel Islands, hope I don't have any problems. :)
Hope we cross paths when I'm over.
Thanks for replying.
Let me know your dates... Would be great to meet
justine are you still in riga? is the latgale flee market is it still open i will be there this april
i hope to come soon to riga to see you justin
Would be amazing my friend👍
Are you planning to go to Tallinn and explore the city like in this video? Would be super Nice
Can I please inform you that Latvia is not Eastern Europe but North Central Europe.
Finland and Greece are more Eastern. Sorry to be pedantic. Tim
Hungary is also in East Europe, and try and compare...
Poland-Latvia-Lithuania

what a lady.
👍🙂
number 22 bus travels to the center of Riga for 1.15 euros. It runs from 5 in the morning to 11 pm.
Thank you very much for your input! 👍🙂
They raised the prices not that long ago. It's now 1,50€ for a 90 min ticket. They got rid of the single ride ticket, but now you can ride in different transports for 90 min with the same ticket. And Nr. 22 bus is the only one, where you can buy the ticket from the driver and it costs 1,81€ there
Huge thumbs up for speaking Latvian. Best video for tourists of `What to DO in Riga in 24hs`
Thank you so much for your kind comment, i really appreciate it!! 👍😃
A bus has a specific time a specific route. Unless you know the taxi driver always take the bus when you come to a new city.
What is the name of the bakery with all the piragi?
Mārtiņa Beķereja
When do you come back in Riga?
Whats the name of Piradzini place?

went to riga and kuldiga last year, very beautiful. that fish food shop looks quite nice.
I can’t believe u already Ken speaking Latvian and some Russians live over 10 years and can’t speak Latvian!
Rīga is great, Latvia is even better. Welcome to Northern Europe.
Agreed… thanks for watching my friend! 👍🙂
if anything we're more eastern than nothern in terms of our culture and mentality, geographically we're north eastern europe.
@@hurmane.8593 well I disagree and we have a very Northern culture and mentality, much more in common with Sweden or Finland than ruzzia apart from having been invaded by it and still today having lots of soviet zombies from there.
@@martinskesteris8664 I've lived in Scandinavia and Latvia for many years. We are MILES away from Sweden. Our governments and people as a hive mind are still very eastern European. You saying we have a ''very northern'' culture shows you've never been or lived long enough in northern eu to actually compare and see the difference. Latvia is changing for the better by eradicating soviet left overs but our progress is very slow unfortunately. A lot of our culture and government is very old fashioned. We have a lot of problems in the socio economic state. A lot of people are struggling which is a lot less pronounced in Scandinavia. Our school systems and prisons are in a very last century state. Our government isn't the sharpest tool in the shed either.. a lot of obvious corruption. 90% of my friends don't work in latvia because the wages are horrible even for a single person. They work in places like the netherlands, scandinavia, uk. And thats a reality for many young people now. This fact alone proves we are far from northern eu standarts.
@@hurmane.8593 miles away from Sweden because Sweden was never invaded by ruzzia. Otherwise very close yet more so with finns
Was that me with the taxi?!
No, it was another mate. When are you back in Riga?
Hi Mate - the same thing happened to me 🤦♂️ We will probably be back in July/ August for a few weeks 👍 Agi would like a review on the kiwi bar 😃
3:06 Man smokes in wrong place. -100 euros.
''Pīrāgi'' are actually those russian pastries. Same thing. Since Latvia has been occupied by the soviet union a lot of food here is ''russian''. I feel like all these ex soviet countries like to claim their own food but in reality we all eat the same food just under different names. Soups be it soļanka, boršs, pelmeņi, potatoes with meat or cutlets. It's all the same thing. I don't think countries like russia, ukraine, belarus, the baltics, poland and some eastern eu contries eat differently. It's all the same food under different/similar names.
im usualy a hater, but you ares so good that you erned like and suscribe
Thank you mate👍👌
riga its like saratov
Come to Belgrade
People from kgb havent left latvia, instead they opened big companies and continued controlling latvian market even in independent times
