  • So apparently Thursday is the new Friday which was the new Tuesday which was originally the new Wednesday. In this video I discuss Bitter v3, Kveik, my inability to handle strong beers and a kids football game.

    I've done mango with philly yeast and it came out like a tart mango beer. Very refreshing.think I did 2kg at high krusen and it did come out a hazy sour beer.

    LOL my latest student paramedic qualified this week and she just turned 21 a few weeks ago and I feel super old now. Looking forward to seeing what fruit you use cheers 🍻👍

    Admire your honesty mate. I’m also not so good on the higher ABV beers (although I’m drinking a 6.2 at the moment 😂). Cheers 🍻

    Alreet fella I’ve just made a strawberry,mint and lime and also soaked some wood chips in white rum on secondary fermentation used 2 packets of the Philly sour and has come out a treat 6.5% but dangerously didn’t taste like it a proper summer supper

      Wow now that is very interesting, strawberry, mint, lime, rum and wood. Sounds like a boozy mojito. Not sure I can handle the abv but I might be able to get it down to 4 in some form. Cheers, that's food for thought 🤔

      @@BigBananaBrewing the only fault I have with it is it’s a little thin on the mouthfeel so would probs mash in next time at 68c as I did a step mash no need really

      Used 79% Simpsons lager malt,18.2% Simpsons wheat, 2% munich. But may split the wheat 50/50 with oats on next brew. 5 limes peeled and 15 grams of mint leaves and however much rum and wood chips ya fancy I soaked them for about 5 days before adding to secondary fermentation

    Maybe try it with Nottingham yeast? Has worked a treat for me when I'm looking to bring out the malt flavours.

      I find Nottingham very clean. I got v1&2 almost perfect then this came along. Maybe Notty is better if pushing 5% 🤔

    I'm watching this and drinking a galaxy/mosaic/bru-1 IPA that's 6.3% and is kicking my ass every time I have a few so I know exactly what you mean and I was thinking the same thing for myself! The Galaxy is on point too and the beer is passionfruit and pineapple and bloody delicious but man I'm no good at 6.3% anymore either! Mmmm galaxy 😂😂😂

      The keg kicked just after I recorded the video and I've been back on the 4.5% beers since and felt great the next day so that's another piece of evidence that I can't handle the big ones. I might need to get some fresh Galaxy so I can get over the mental block I have against it.

    Practice makes perfect. Numerous pints make garbage sleep. Not just you, me an naw, Why do we do it to ourselves? Because beer is good, beer is evil. Embrace the demon. He is our friend. Sometimes…….👹

      Part of me thinks the beer was so good because it was 6%+ and can never be converted to sub 5% and the other part wants to brew it tomorrow to find out. I'll figure it out somehow.
