Thank you. I was the guy getting too deep down the rabbit hole. Saving to buy my first set of coilovers and you all have been a huge help.
Glad we could help Ryan!
@@fitmentindustriesgarage5583 hey there brother. I have a 2015 Toyota camry. I would like to know what suspension you can suggest i install for a smooth non bumpy ride
Shut up dude
@@RWarrior777just search up the car with coilovers and see what other people are running
I love the typed correction of him saying "dampening" (to wet, moisten, make damp) to the correct *damping.
This is a pet peeve of mine. Thank you.
me too, and when people talk about moisture "condensating" instead of "condensing"
You guys have been a major help on my coilovers journey for my f32, from what they are and what they do, to how to adjust, and what are the applications. Thanks guys #educated
Thank you for the easy to follow explanation. This made it seem a lot less complicated.
Just bought my first set of coilovers for my 2018 WRX, bought the FA 500 series so I'm really hyped to install them! Thanks for the video!
Accurate precise and simple description and instructions!! Well done thank you
Easy to understand. Helped me reaffirm what I'm doing with my new set. Thanks
I appreciate this video. I got an 02 Civic SI that was lowered. It rode terrible. I watched your video and figured out how to adjust the dampening. It was all the way stiff when I started adjusting. So much better ride quality now.
Great to hear, and nice work!

Thank you for a no nonsense video. Finally I feel like I understand. A big help!👍
Awesome explanation - thank you!!!! 👌🏻👌🏻
Amazing explanation. Very helpful information!
this was the most simple, uncomplicated go to explanation of coilovers and how they work that I've ever come across. Thanks......
Wow, bought some wheels from you guys and I just got tires and I’m needing to adjust my coils so that they’ll fit! Going from 14s to your alls 15 inch mst mt10s on my 98 civic sedan that’s lowered 2 inches. Was surprised to see you all have a video for this to help me as well! Thanks for the wheels and the help
Thankyou so much for this information! I was winding my springy boys up thinking it will stiffen the spring itself and I was wrong! Always great to have an awesome channel and helpful information. Thankyou again 😊
We got you! 🤘
Awesome!! I'm raising my bmw 335xi this evening that has this exact suspension. Previous owner has it a bit to low for my liking as a daily driver. So I can keep everything the same and just raise the car an inch all around and maybe adjust the camber and be done.
Much better video than the last one on suspension mistakes. Lol. Thank you.
Man. Wish I saw this sooner! Thanks!
Immensely informative and well constructed video. Not alot of new information for me personally but it was a huge help to hear it all coming from an expert. I actually decided against TEINs due to the fact that the ebay seller was a pain in the ass, and I am so glad I did now. Body-adjusted ride height makes so much more sense!
Thank you!!
Just picked up this exact set lol
excellent vid. very helpful.
Appreciate the small details you provided in the video. I’m very happy with the 500 series on my E36 M3 they are worth it! 💯
Subscription done, too easy, this is AWESOME!!!

Holy shit good thing I looked this video up before messing with my coils would of had mine all busted 🤣🤣 thanks!
Great video!!!!
Could you make a video adjusting the rear coilovers? I have some doubts the proper way to adjust it
It’s the same as the front. Loosen the bottom lock collar and turn the coilover from right to left to lower. To raise turn the coliover from left to right until you reach ur desired height then tighten the bottom lock collar back down and your done. It’s very easy
What Feta 89 said. Also, make sure your preload ring bolt is tightened enough so that you are turning the entire shock body and not just the preload ring.
Can you guys cover the Rev9 hyperstreet 2’s?
extremly helpfullllloll tysm
Can u explain what the stiffness does to the ride? And how often should you do any maintance if any to coilovers? I have megan ezII coils on my tsx. I got the car used and not sure how long theyve been on and if they should be checked or maintanced. Thanks!
very helpful thank you! Plus you better get to keep your dream job
Learned a lot in 5 minutes!
Excellent video and straight to the point. I'm shocked! ;)
Pretty helpful. Mine were just installed from RR racing about 32 days ago. I’m hearing some clunks. I went back to a different mechanic and tried to tighten the bolt in the middle. They were all tight. I only dropped a half an inch all around. I’m not sure it’s bouncy in the back also
That damper adjustment wad unbelievably easy,, can't believe it works that effectively and so well..
erased the misinformation of preload from my brain thanks also put me at ease with how I measure the coilover ride height still hesitant on the camber adjustment thanks Sean
🙏 we got you
Damn this is going to save me so much time I just got coilovers and I been taking discounting the rotors and everything to adjust the ride hahaha now I know how to mess with it easily lol
can you guys do a video on adjusting reboud or having softer suspension
does this also work for the air lift system coils in the front ? 🤔
Thanks bro
Definitely going go with these instead of magneride when I buy my new Mustang.5 year warranty plus they are rebuildable from Fortune. Simplicity and functionality is its own reward sometimes.👍
I put coils on my corolla a week ago and been fighting clunks. Thanks I'm gonna try it out
Thanks for this video..do u have any idea what is the right adjustment and height for 2013 wrx sedan base.,mine as of now is too lowered underchaassis touches every humps humps..please and thank you..
Does the damping pen stay in the coilovers? Faction fab FR spec it comes seperate so do I adjust the damping and take out the pen?
hello, to adjust the damper from soft up, clip numbers get more stiff?
Probably the best 6 minute video ive ever seen
So i have my Megan Racing Coilovers set to my desired height. It is not to low. I have about an inch and a half clearance between the tire and the fender. I noticed when im on the highway and there is a dip or jump i hear the rear touch the inside fender or wheel well. It is not much, its a quick zap type noise for a second. Can i fix this with the damper or do i have to rise this up set again? I have a Hyundai Genesis btw.
Thank you so much for the clarification and information!! If possible, can you make a video on how to adjust the coilovers while being inside the car? :o
What coilovers would you recommend for 18 wrx? Mostly daily, 1-2 track days per year. I was between ohlins (heard they can be noisy) vs fortune auto 7 series

would i need to purchase camber arms if my coils come with camber plates?
Speaking from experience since I just adjusted my fortune autos while they were installed on the car. While adjusting the ride height without moving the preload. While adjusting ride height without messing with the preload make sure the spring doesn’t twist while moving the top collar for adjusting for ride height. Ensure the strut is the only thing that is moving up or down. I learned this the hard way. Something as simple as adjusting the ride height, where I thought was a simple 1-2 hour job ended up turning to a 4-5 hour job because I was moving the preload. From my understanding this only applies to the fortune autos because it only has 2 collar’s compared to 3 with most other coilovers
Another word of advice make sure you have a tape measure because with ride height and preload you want to make sure both sides of your car are the same measurements as far as preload and ride height is. So always measure your springs and ride height for both sides of your car. I just adjusted my coilovers today and ran into a lot of problems since it was my first time doing it. So if this helps anyone out then I feel like I’ve accomplished something 😂
I have fitted some coilovers to my car but the ride is very hard. No preload set. Spring compression is 20%.
The dampeners are not adjustable.
Can you give me some advice.
Would the ride be improved by changing the springs to lower tension ones and or would the ride be better improved by changing the dampeners to adjustable ones?
Can you guys do a walk through on installing some KSports on my ride thank you . Altima 2021 Sr.
im being as patient as i can after tye install of my Flex Z’s. i will be putting new rims on, an inch larger… once those damn tires get here. back ordered since i didn’t order them the day you all helped me. anyhow, thanks! -quickie q: do i really need to use an allen key to turn the knob on Teins damper? it almost doesn’t feel necessary. am i missing something?
Wanted to know can I get a stock ride with coil overs. I want to be able to lower my car a good amount but don’t want to bounce every where like I have in some of my friends car. What’s a good set of coilovers that with give me that stock ride
Have a 08 335i convertible .. had coilovers installed .. they adjusted the damper .. but the driver side is very different then the passenger.. curious if they should be dialed in the same ??
Hey FitmenIndustries 👋, do you have any shop where I can adjust my Ttein z flex Coilovers for my infiniti G35 in Los Angeles California area? 🙏
Hey man I’m on K Sport Control Pro’s I am riding on 15x100’s 20+ I want a stanced look on the rear what setting do I put the camber plate on? Do I add positive or negative camber. Please help 🥲
Even with the pillow top camber plate would they hold just like a regular front end skunk 2 or truhart camber plate for the front end? Considering out of the camber kits the fronts seem to be the most expensive? I bought my rims and tires from fitmentindustries and now have found Tein Street Flex Coilovers Adjustable Lowering Coils Set Kit that comes with a adjustable camber plate for the front strut type suspension. (Usually these camber kits are $300+) just for the fronts and around $140 to $180 for the rears. Ive heard nothing but great things about tien. Its going on an 06 acura tl and really im just fixing a lot of what the original owner messed up (putting 20in rims with no upgraded suspension, pulling the fenders rather than rolling them) even after putting 18in rims with new tires the cars still sitting super low but the negative camber is crazy and i cant find anysort of name on the current suspension. So aside from new rims, tires, coilovers, rear camber kit, should i also worry about getting a toe kit to go with the upper rear camber kit? Id try to fix the fenders myself but the creases on the driver side are unreal and trying to put a light marker on there would be next to impossible. The ONLY reason i even spent the 1500 on the car was the transmission is new and the engine is super solid. Interior of course is somethong left to be desired but hey all windows roll down. The AC works like a dream and the single speaker he drilled into the door panel works great lol (oh yeah he totally messed up the rear deck where the 8in sub would have gone so bending that metal back in place and spending time to rewire the speaker system is where the real fun begins. Luckily the guys at mobile car max audio have been super nice in helping me figure out my needs and even offering up suggestions on how to make my process easier. But right now im stuck on going with the higer end coilovers with the front camber plate (which sounds like the smart way) or gettig something cheaper and just buying the skunk2 front camber kit :/ i did spend a decent amount on my rims and tires from fitmentindustries and i want to do them proud. Is there a better coilover system out there you could recommend?
THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION SHAWN, CAN I ASK WHAT STATE YOUR IN?
Hello Sean, I really like the way you describe and explain everything. Keep it up!
I have this coilovers Fortune auto 500 when the shop mount it the car begins with a noise at the driver side like a bearing or a ball joint was bad we verified everything and found nothing. what it could be? Adjustment?
Thanks in advance!!
Did you check to see if you have everything tightened?
is there any chance that the inner axle will pull out? when bc coilovers are on? because I had it removed because I had coilovers, I just adjusted it from .5 to 2.5fingers gap, then the axle pulled out after adjusting, suspecting the spring because it is said to be soft. or is that tension because it's no longer camber?
I have vw jetta 2013 comfort-line , i have 18” VMR (18x8.5 + 45) wheels with tires 225 45 R18 but i have stock suspension and coils. I am getting some rubbing issues with getting through small pot hole even , like even the small bump make sound of tires touching body. I am super confused what is a solution for this “do i need to change suspension or coils ?” If i need to than what type and option of suspension and coils i should put in ?
Fortune autos pre load is already done for you, right? There was a sticker that said this from fortune auto.
Can I adjust the damping to the softest setting?? Like actually 0. All the way to soft.
For adjustments does the car have to be in the air or can it be on the floor
My first coils with dampening adjustment. After watching this, I am now a dampening adjustment pro.
U have a shop were can i take my homda accord 2015 how much u charger me to put the coil on
I have a GR86. Can't decide between Silvers Neomax and Fortune Auto 500. I just want a drop between 1.5" - 2" my car is mostly a daily but would like something that would be decent for track incase I ever do and also rise quality is important hopefully nothing worse that the stock suspension.
So on my fortune auto 500s, when i lower the car by releasing the lower perch and screwing the whole strut into the body, my preload was messed up. caused my spring to droop and was not snug to the spring perch. i thought the body spinned independently of the spring perch? or am I missing smth here.
Question about the camber adjustment. The 4 bolts on the top have other options for holes. What are these for please?
Camber plates for your front wheels
Can you please go over compression/rebound? Since high-end coilovers allow you to adjust them separately, how does it actually affects the performance? What if i have stiff rebound and soft compression, or the other way around?
Thanks
We can look into making a video on it! 🤘
How do you deal with bouciness after installing coilovers?
so with the camber plates identical on both sides, the actual degree of camber is different. both maxed towards negative gave me about -5 passenger front and -2.5 driver front. ive since just matched each side as best i could but passenger side maxed towards positive is still at -1.5 and driver side is about halfway to match. this is on a set of rev9 coils
Any hints on how to unseize a set that's been at the same height for 2+ years ? I'm at my wits end and just need to drop the rear another half inch. Any help is appreciated.
WD-40 my friend
I installed RS*R coilovers on my Honda Accord and I really like them and I like their dampening adjustability. One thing still bothering me a bit is the shock travel compared to the OEM one, which makes hitting road dips is noticeably uncomfortable, even with the softest dampening level. Is there any way to solve this or at least make it close to OEM? The car is dropped a little not much from OEM height.
Where is your pre-load adjusted to? Unfortunately That's kind of the nature of a coilover, is it's going to be a bit stiffer than stock. It shouldn't be uncomfortable though. I'd play around with different settings. Maybe even try going stiffer on the damping.
@@fitmentindustriesgarage5583 Preload was untouched as it came from factory, and I tried stiffer setting and it got worse. Now it's in the middle and I started getting used to that ride.
When a set of coilover have the 24 way adjustable dampening but the also have a non adjustable option are the non adjustable at the most soft setting, the middle or the stiffest setting?
Normally the middle
So do the manuals for every set of coilovers indicate the preload specs For both style struts?
Yes
I'll be purchasing my first set of coilovers. I drive a 04 bmw 530i..e60....will these work with my ride? If not, could you recommend a set?
E60 5 series is a pretty popular chassis, fortune auto 500s or 510s should have E60 5 series options.
But what about hight adjustment on cars like my Volvo C30 where you mount the coilover in to a hub.... The coilovers I have seen out ther dont have hight adjustment on them only preload. Is it okay to do hight adjustments via Preload?
I can’t recommend it. It will get you low but it’s not a great way to do it.
I got a 16in rim. I want to know the best tire set up. Rn. It’s 205/45/16. Think I could go 195/45/16
What coilovers would you pick for the golf 7R?
Fortune Auto 510.
Explain the rear suspension most of us usually have sperate shock and spring setup in the rear
Cheers. Had my coil overs way to stiff and I'm wearing out struts in less than a year...
Bro I just got ma set of coilovers n everything works pretty well but the only issue that I have is when I turn something makes a noise I don’t know it it’s the break tablets or the coilovers .
What’s a good coil over for g35 coupe that you would recommend?
It’s a 2003 g35 coupe I just want a solid one with all the adjustments
Hey man, a bit of an odd question....
If posted a couple pics of my setup, think you could throw me some guidance? This is new territory for me.
Appreciate you and your videos!

I would like to have coilovers for my azera and call you guys for help but they don't have any good coilovers options for me.😔😔
Do you have a garage or somewhere that you guys can work on my car. Where or your location
Awesome vid as always, do you need to get a wheel alignment after ever time you adjust the hieght and/or camber or does that not affect the toe at all?
Camber affects toe, and ride height affects camber
My question is the stiffness/softness from front to rear. Put them the same or should the rear be softer vice versa
Generally same side to side, but front and rear can be totally different based on setup and car weight etc.
Don’t forget to add that tightening the lock collar needs to be hammered in per instructions or it will loosen!
So my 1000euro fitment with blinstein b14 pss it's crap because the height adjust with pre load only 😭😭 and the problem is if I leave the full range of spring my to car hits the ground so I squeeze the spring to the middle and now I have 2 finger space between wheels and fender.... 😭😭
Do ya sale coilovers for cryaler sibring 2007
waiting on my fortune auto 500 coilovers to arive, so im watching all these coilover videos to prepare myself, and tootally not because I need to satiate my need for coilovers while still not actually having any
I recently raised my rear (divorced spring coilovers) and have noticed that the ride is much more unstable when turning almost like it sways side to side much more easy. Is this due to having too much preload?
it definitely could be! That’s where I would start!
@@fitmentindustriesgarage5583 thanks getting ready to try this. As a rule of thumb on divorced spring and shock setups should you always reduce preload when raising the vehicle? Since you are basically extending the spring length.
Ive got some maxpeeding coils over coming in with adjustable damper.. now im not a fan of low cars so i want to rise my car up... can you help me with that? I have a 2001 330ci 5 speed and the rear suspension is divorced... seperate spring..
They come with an adjustment spacer for under the spring. It's basically the same as adjusting the lower collar in this video, except it only sits under the spring to jack it up.
@@802Garage dont even matter now. 2 weeks ago my car got wiped out... 7k for no reason.. 😭💔
@@officialyungtwizted3858 Nooooo! That's the worst. I'm sorry. I just spent a bunch of time adjusting and greasing my MXR coilovers the other day. They are on a $500 1993 Impreza though. Hope you can get another fun car.
@@802Garage man im so sick with it man 😭😭3 days after the coil overs got on. A really bad storms flooded the streets. Cars were being hit everywhere and i got side swiped and that put me into a hydro plane baddly i spinned all over the road snd first consct hit broke my front tie rods so i couldnt even controll the wheel And it went over the median to the other side of traffic.... i got pics if you wanna see 😭😭im currently tryna buy it back from the yard to see whats damaged.
does this also apply to BC coilovers?
Yes! BCs are very easy to adjust!
What about the rear coil overs? How do you adjust damper on them?
If you ordered Rear Adjustment Extenders, then adjust them the same as the fronts (usually they are located in the truck). If you don't have the extenders, then you will have to find the top of the coilover which might be in a tight place.
@@awakenthesleepinglion6377 im going to take my car to get the coil overs re adjusted. They are only stiffening the dampening when i go to a shop but not fixing the actual bounce of the suspension because its good in stiffness but not the bouncing.
@@awakenthesleepinglion6377 sucks because i spent 800$ on these K Sport coil overs that are supposed to be for performance but came really bouncy out the box
@@sssjdemon4686 My understanding of these coilovers is they reduce car roll to keep the tire patch as wide as possible on the track. Therefore, they might not give as smooth a ride on the street.
I had a speed shop adjust mine and they ride awesome on the track but not so great on a bumpy public road.
I was told to use a lot of never seize on the locking rings or will lock up tight.
