You might need a "Brake Pedal Stop Pad" Cost: $2.00 - 5.00
    Part Number: 46505-SA5-000
    (or...71045 *from a comment below)
Google: "Honda Accord Brake Pedal Stop Pad"
Quick Fix: If you need to do a quick fix, use cardboard, put a bolt in the hole, or tape a "spacer" such as two pennies, to the pedal and this will get you down the road.
Stop the Battery from Draining: pull the plug off the switch at the brake pedal; or pull the fuse at the fuse box in the engine..see the related video.
NOTE: It's faster to just go to your local parts store; they will likely have the part you need.
Interesting fact...CZcams stats show this video get more hits/sikes May through September. itsa very clear graph. My part broke during the summer months.

You saved me! My landlord awoke me at 1:30AM announcing my break lights on my 99 Accord were on. Pitch black out, I pulled the “Stop” fuse and set my phone alarm to awake me at daybreak. I found the broken plastic on the car carpeting and knew. Then I put the fuse back in place under the hood; went to the break pedal; taped a penny in the plastic stopper’s former spot and drove to AutoZone. They were out of stock of part 74015 but the female clerk who once owned a Honda guided me to another part - a flat rubber stopper with a cone shaped end and her coworker depressed the break peddle for me as ol’ me got down on a blanket, reached up to the break light switch and put the stopper in place. Your video was the first one I turned to! 😊

I wasn't quite sure what to do (and I was half asleep already when he called me)....I quickly referred to Google, found you at the top of my results and watched your video. Bam, spot on!! Thank you soooo much! Absolute help.

@@doitmyselfhomerepair1652 Thank you for showing the actual part one needs for this, but especially for showing the location of the fuse. (I'm an old woman and don't need this aggravation.)

Went to dealership and paid a little over $10 for the "brake pedal switch bumper" (next time I'm in AutoZone I'll ask what they charge) and fixed this in two minutes. Had to turn the engine on in order to depress the brake pedal enough (as mentioned elsewhere) to stick in the bumper. Because of your video, I was able to save time (my brother didn't have to come & fix it), money (I thought about taking it to shop) & my sanity (I tend to say F-It quickly). Thanks for posting this & helping me to self diagnose the problem.

Thank you so much for the posting this fix! Also, for showing what fuse to take out in the interim in waiting for the new part. I didn't want to disconnect the battery cables after every time I drove the car. Sure enough, I found the plastic pieces broken in the floor.
I was walking back to my car in a parking lot and noticed my brake lights were on. I thought, could it be a reflection or was someone in my car!?! I was thankful there was not a thief in my car, but frustrated finding I had a new car problem to fix. This easy-tof-follow video saved me a fortune compared to what the stealership would have charged. Thanks again!

Thanks so much. Today after work my brake light was on got home my neighbors and let me know that the light was still on.
I tried this and that and then I watch your video and I found a little broken screw plastic screw. That look like a piece of crayon. Anyway I use a plastic screw from the back of the trunk where the brake lights are. It works great I put it in there and the brake light went off. I press the brake light and came back on.
I thought I would have to pay a lot of money and waste time off of work. But this save me a a lot of time and money at a machic.
Even so I will go to the store and get me one of those, it's 10 pm now. and I thought I had one in the car anyway, this works great thank you.

Thanks for the video. Had to use the little rubber bushing as the plastic white bushing didn't fit. But your video helped me solve the problem of the light. Also great mention of broken parts on floor. I found the cone portion and thought it was a Crayola on the floor. Quick fix thanks to your video...not a dead battery and panic to fix two issues. Thanks 😊

Thank you for this! I have a 2001 Civic and had to use the black one vs. white. But thank God it was a super easy $8 fix. For anyone aprehensive about doing it, it's literally turning the panel knob, popping it off, putting the stopper in, putting the panel back and done. I'm not into cars or fix them. I'm actually a girly girl and I was cool with fixing it.
