They have to break the suction of the muddy bottom on that very heavy section of bridge. They do that by keeping massive tension on the cables.

First of all what is "Minorcan"? Second, I have a better seat here in Florida than I would have if I were there in Baltimore watching in person. Thanks for the videos and all the information you tell us about. Third, I'd like to salute the Georgia National Guard of which I was a member from 64 to 1970. Loved living in Atlanta. Great job Andy! It will be very interesting to see just how they remove those massive blocks of solid concrete off of the bow. Looks like those two massive blocks pretty much flattened the entire forecastle and everything under it. Whenever Dali heads down to Norfolk it will be under tow with multiple tug escorts. No way is she seaworthy in her current condition, especially without functioning anchors, so the Coast Guard will never release her to navigate on her own.

Something that may or may not be obvious and if this subject has been covered I appologize but as the piece is lifted from the water the actual weight increases due to the bouyancy of the piece when it is submerged as opposed to being clear of the water.

Thanks Captain Andy! Here Comes a question or 2. 1. When you Drop Anchors near the Dali, How Deep is the area? I thought I heard you say 25 FT. But I'm not sure. 2. What Kind of Admiral is he? Not trying to be Nosy, but just wondering. And Thanks for View of the Clean up at the Bridge, and also Thanks for Bonus of showing us the Loading and unloading of the Containers of the Small Carrier. That was a Plus, cause I've not seen this so close, Not even on TV or Media. I guess cause I've not tried. Can't wait to see your Evening edits and nice 4K shots. Have Fun In Georgia. Peace, Blessings! Terry

Who else would pay for this? There hasn't been any settlements or payout yet, and that could take years. People say hope it's not taxpayers, don't understand that this bridge replacement would be a tiny fraction compared to the useless spending. It's estimated cost is 1.7 billion, so lets say 2.5 billion in reality. Biden spent 320 billion on a sinking pier in Gaza. And how many billions to pay off students contractual debt? The US sends aid money everywhere. This is US infrastructure used by US citizens. It's the Constitutionally correct use of tax dollars. When we see any return from litigation or insurance payoffs, that money will also be squandered.
