Auto-Showcase Project (ASP) presents Dennis' 1952 Willys M38 Military Jeep.
Dennis was camera shy, but allowed the ASP to showcase his historic Willys M38. I provide an after action report (commentary) to the video.
I thank Dennis for showcasing his 1952 Willys M38 Military Jeep to the ASP.

It makes me feel happy to know that people take care of Korean War era Jeeps. I’m glad people can still witness what my grandfather most likely saw all those years ago!
God Bless your grandfather and all the other Korean War veterans who suffered and died fighting the " Forgotten War".
This is one of if not the best looking M38 I've ever seen. I've restored a few M38A1's many years ago. I really enjoyed seeing this. Tip my lid to the restorer. Great job.
I love the way this video is shot. It allows me to take in the detail of this beautiful Jeep without having to pause and rewind. Thanks for sharing it.
That is amazing, and the attention to detail is mindblowing. So much work gone into this jeep.
Thanks for posting this.
Another beautiful piece of history..
I'm 45 seconds in and that thing is BEAUTIFUL...
What a beautiful Jeep! The owner I'm sure if very proud, and just awesome to see all his work and attention to detain in this video. Thanks for sharing. :)
Great Jeep and Great video on it. Thank you.
Dear Gurilla: Thank you for doing such a great job on researching the M-38 and narrating the video.
Regards Dennis
Aaaahhhhh...the good old days! Tight looking, well dressed Jeep! 'Preciate' the view n trip down a dusty road!
Keep your head down ,n butt tucked in, n don't skyline yourself...n when u r dun...I'll see ya back in the world!
Great looking M38! From one MV owner to another great job!
Fantastic engineering: simple, well thought-out, and RUGGED!
Cerobong knalpotnya ada ga
Only vehicles who took part and participated at Normandy invasion had the star with the dotted cyrcle ..... Great restoration thought and it does look good with the star.....
These are better than a side by side, more rugged too. And more fun to drive!
Great video and production
Not many jeeps looked as immaculate as that when they were in service.
Pretty sweet idea for period looking floor mats. regular old anti fatigue mats
Great job on the M38. As far as a spec M38 there is a lot of things not original. But maybe he wasn't worried about it not being 100% original. I have a m38 that also has a few things not original also. Good job.
01:31 - "it was also considered a direct copy of the Willys CJ3-A..."
Not a "direct copy", though essentially similar, there were several differences. The MC, for instance, had 24 volt waterproof ignition while the CJ3-A was six volt with standard distributor. Random examples of MC were pulled from production, started, and run at idle for twenty minutes while a fire hose was run on the engine full blast. MC had stronger frames, shackle reverse, blackout lighting, various military fittings... .
Also, Willys rhymes with 'Phyllis', not with 'lillies'.
You're absolutely right on the invasion stars, but it really looked good, so that is why I put it on the jeep. Thanks everyone for your comments.
Regards Dennis
It's your 'Jeep'!

grande carro...........valeu cara................!
NICE.
Very Great Sir
Da gusto ver ese reacondicionamiento de coche y como otros individuos que enseguida lo modifican de todo ........y por todo
Those are "data plates," with instructions for fording, shift diagrams, factory info, etc.
@domiNATEshots12
You are absolutely correct on the hood numbers. The jeep is dedicated to my father how's picture is seen on the interior windshield behind the gun rack. The hood number is his WWII serial number and his outfit, the 995 Field Artillery is on the rear bumpers. Thanks for noticing. Best Regards Dennis V.
Dennis do you still have this M38?
@@paulsworld07 Yes I do.
i noticed the two lights on the m38 panel gauges shouldnt be there it is not for m38 but over all it does look awsome, fantastic work
Civilian Jeep Panel lights. I left them on since it was a 12 volt system on the jeep.
I put many a mile driving Army jeeps in all types of terrain for many years. They were reliable and trustworthy and it was a danged shame to see them leave active service. I think the modernization was carried too far as the jeeps would fill many roles as well today as they did when l served.
06:30 - That engine is set up as a civilian model (CJ3A). The MC (M38) had 24 volt waterproof ignition. The distributor and ignition parts look entirely different.
His trailer is a Willys MB-T or a Bantam T-3.
The trailer is an original M-100 made by the Strick Corp in 1952. There is a Japan Depot rebuild tag on it also.
@@dv3468 Cool.
I should have noticed the heavy lunette.
That's a very nice M38 and trailer.
Nice one
Awesome...

Hey guys! Can someone please explain me what the rhinoceros sticker mean? What is the history behind that symbol?
THE RHINO WITH THE ARTILLERY SHELL FOR A HORN IS THE LOGO FOR THE 995TH, FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION DURING WWII.
Thanks for posting this,it was really interesting, reminds me of the show "Rat Patrol".What are the brass plates for on the dash, instructions on how to's?
Specifications, ordnance inventory, transmission and transfer case instructions.
Could some one explain about two sticks for low and high mode?
Left stick forward engages four wheel drive. Back disengage. Right stick forward. Four wheel drive low. Back four wheel drive high.
@@paulsworld07
You have the left stick reversed.
X -
- X
Left stick forward, right stick back is 2WD high range (pavement mode).
- -
X X
Both sticks back - 4WD high.
- X
X -
Left stick back, right forward is 4 Low.
Unaltered transfer cases have an internal lockout pin which prevents use of 2WD low range..
Left stick is 'in - out'
Right stick is high - low.
I like that...how much that you selling completly?
Great
How hard would it be to convert a old willys to an automatic?
Why would you do that??
+SaintJames40 it would be a sin
ufffff toda una reliquiaaaaaaa
LINDO!!!
I
Also not to judge this awesome jeep, but if the jeep was used in the army, its numbers on the hood would have started with 20
The distributor is not correct
Which engine ???
That's a 134 'L - Head' (overhead valve).
Great jeep. But a lot of different parts used on it.
The Star on the hood is incorrect, this star was used in the landing of Normandy, when this jeep did not exist
'Artistic license'.
Judging by the video this particular model does not have the full floating rear axle.
MB / GPW of WW2 had those.
AWESOME have u ever saw an bear Gerber knife
I like jeep willis...
distributor is twelve volt and not waterproof I can't blame you for that
is that gun NJ legal in NJ
yes it is in-operable.
not nj legal
Brett Duffy is anything legal in NJ or NY?
Brett Duffy is anything legal in NJ or NY?
Anyone 6 foot plus there not suited, I couldn't see through the windscreen or fit in behind the steering wheel.
🇺🇸👍🏼
How grace full like Monika.
I have a M38 still in it's work clothes. Let me tell you in the dictionary under the word Tough there is a picture of a Willys military jeep. No more definition needed.
I have m38 jeep
+Shoaib M-Essa (Shobi) I too... a M38A1 Tires 7.50 wheeler 16.
Did the M38 have a model with an engine in hanger orange . . . no!
Wrong star and hood number for a m38
Those real Jeeps all had 4 cylinder engines
An most of them are was made by ford
@@kevinbeck9459 No, Ford was subcontractor to Willys for the 'WW2 standard Jeep'.
In competition with American Bantam and Ford, Willys won the contract in 1941 with their superior 134 inch 'Go Devil' engine.
Nearly 360,000 Willys MB (Military, second contract) vehicles were built,
Ford built nearly 280,000 of the GPW (Government, 80" wheelbase, Willys pattern). Both were known to Ordnance as 'Truck, 1/4 Ton, 4X4, G503'.
This 'Jeep' is an M38, all of which were produced by Willys Overland.
Dear Saint Lucifer! :D
As silly as it may sound, it really reminds me of my 2014 Jeep Compass. They hardly changed a thing in all those years, really its just cosmetics.
No hip pads?
Not on the M38. WWII jeeps only.

এই গুলির কারখানা তৈরি করুন বাংলাদেশের মধ্যে।
Most of the stuff under the hood isn't original
The original engine was replaced sometime in its lifetime with an early 2A engine with 12 volt ignition. I kept it that way .
Pra competir com uma maquina de guerra dessas só o compass ou o renegade.kkk
Great
