I restored a '51 a few years ago. It was in Strata Blue paint when it left the service in 1967. Very popular at car shows and parades as we have an Air Force base nearby. The top was added in stages, as the budget allowed. You can see Leslie Nielsen drive one in a couple of short scenes in "The Reluctant Astronaut".

Great video. I am also a vet, Army. i also have a thing for jeeps. my jeep was a 1995 jeep wrangler YJ Sahara 5 speed with a 4.0 straight engine. I prefer the jeeps from the post ww2 jeeps to my 1995 jeep wranglers. thank you for your service.

I would really like to own a M38 as nice as yours! I have owned quite a few air force vehicles, because the AF treated their vehicles generally better than the other branches. I've had the M1009, M35a2, M151a1, M1028, m1008, but they all were painted camo, but in the slightly lighter green the Air Force used. Lighter than the Army, or the even darker paint the Marine's used. The only blue AF vehicle I have owned is a Dodge Ram 50. It was basically a civilian vehicle, bare bones and painted the AF blue. I have seen AF buses painted blue, and I had guessed that the AF only painted their vehicles blue when they were not combat vehicles, until I heard your story, and saw your M38. Appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks.
