    My baby is already going to be 10 months in a few days and she doesn’t crawl… the Dr told us to have her more on the floor and once we did that the first day she started rolling back and forth and being on her tummy more pushing and kind of swimming. I’m getting very anxious and I feel bad that I didn’t know what to do with my baby to help her. My husband is so over protective so that’s mainly why she wasn’t on the floor a lot because he always was worried that she was gonna fall and hit her head… and also because the germs… anyway now we bought her the floor foam letter squares to have more cushion since we have tile. Your vid helped me figure how to help her. Thanks!

      @dfc41 Před rokem +2

      @Erica85 my son will be 11 months on the 21st, he is still army crawling but not "typically" crawling. And he didn't start army crawling til close to 10 months, it happened out of no where. He was doing the "fish out of water" prior to army crawling and seemed not to be progressing until one day he started to push off with one foot just a few inches. Try not to worry. I know it's hard cause I still worry because he hasn't said his first word nor is he crawling on all fours but my pediatrician said not to worry he will be fine.

    • @dfc41
      @dfc41 Před rokem +2

      @Erica85 also before he was army crawling we tried motivating him with toys and it didn't work, what did get him to start pushing with one foot was my plate of food. I would try that. Even the remote didn't work and he always wants the remote but for some reason my food did it.

      For anyone inquiring about a helpful tool- the boppy pillow- or a leg-like pillow has been an integral component in our journey. It has helped each stage and milestone so far. From supporting his back learning to sit up, to reaching forward and back to sitting position, to encouraging him to lean back and forward strengthening his core and neck muscles, to helping him turn over into a crawling position (I.e. replacement for a human leg to give him a buffer as he reaches the 4 point position.)

    I have a 4 month old boy and he is pushing his upper body off the floor.
    Very wide hand positions but he gets the idea. When he has this wide arm span trying to push himself off of the floor, i gently place my arms behind his upper arms near his arm pits and i just apply a little pressure to straighten out his arms underneath him.
    He can hold it for about half a second before he flatens out again, but i do it every time he tries to push off the ground because it helps teach him where his hands need to be.

    Thank you, Emma, for the great video. Our baby is now 9 months old and has recently started crawling. However, he only crawls with two arms (elbows on the ground) and only one leg. He keeps the other leg straight and does not engage it in crawling. When he kicks and jumps, both legs are strong. Anything we should be concerned about please?

    • @EmmaHubbard
      @EmmaHubbard  Před 3 lety

      Hi @shirley placing food in their mouth is difficult if they have not yet learnt how to drop/release items. It is also difficult if they are using a whole hand grip. So typically it is around 8/9 months that they can accurately place food in their mouth and drop it in their mouth. They are even better at it at 12 months when they are using their thumb and pointer finger to pick up food. How old is your little one?

    Hi Emma can you please explain if it’s important for babies who learn how to first walk to get new and good quality/ supportive pair of shoes? Is Stride Rite a brand u would recommend? A mom told me it should never be secondhand as it could affect their gait and posture but wanted to double check with you!! Thanks again

    • @EmmaHubbard
      @EmmaHubbard  Před 3 lety +2

      @Pri USA from my understanding it is best for new walkers to not wear shoes - so be barefoot the majority of the time. If you do need a pair of shoes then what you are looking for are supportive shoes - so you don't want shoes that folds when you try to touch the top of the shoe to the back of the shoe. You also don't want a shoe where you can squeeze the sides of the heel together. I don't think it would be an issue buying second hand shoes - in fact physiotherapist that iI have worked with gave clients second hand shoes to use. Sorry if that is confusing.

    Hello, our baby is almost 10 months (11th of august) and he's gets better everyday at that 4 point position and he even moves his knees forward but he has trouble moving his hands forward so he gets frustrated because he cant reach for his toy in his tempo. My partner keeps telling me i don't have to worry but i do worry a bit because he is almost 10 months and can't crawl.
    Kind regards
    Stanley

      Hi @Blessy K thanks for the tip - I was thinking this would a be good video to do so glad to hear you would find it helpful. Basically there are two ways to help a baby go from sitting to lying down depending on what they can do. It is a bit complicated to explain without showing you ,so a video would be the better option. I will do this shortly.

    Thank you for your videos. They've been super helpfull! My baby is 5 months old and he's recently learnt to do a slow army crawl to get around. He rolls onto his tummy, pushes himself up on his hands and then pulls himself forwards with his arms. I know it's still a bit early for him to start doing a proper crawl, but is this a regular first step for babies to get around? I noticed you didn't mention army crawling.

    I feel like such a failing mommy!
    My LO will turn 6 month this week
    My LO does not want to roll not forward or bakwards. He Hates tummy time he will rather just lei on his tummy with his head flat. When I try and Force exercise crawling and upper body strenght he cries his eyes out.
    He is sitting exclusively but that is thanks to the feeding chair. He would rather just sit and play then to roll. If he fall forward on his tunmy and want to sit back up he will rather cry than try to roll back or try to sit up.
    The pead did a check up and say he reaches all the other milestones well. The rolling will come on his time. Im at the point of taking him to an Pediatric Occupational therapist as im scared that he wont reach the rolling or crawling milestone 😭😭😭
    Emma please what advice can you give me
