In my honest opinion i have to say that Dragonball Z has been for me the most epical cartoon that has ever made and i am 47 years old. the rush, the ride, the drama, the humor its all there. Also those amazing cliffhangers, every episode again. you can't stop watching once you started it. And especially this scene was one of those epical moments. But to feel the right tension, you really have to see every episode from the start. Then you will understand Freeza's hate against sayans.
I grew up with my parents always talking about dragon ball and maybe like 4 years ago I tried to watch it and ever since I couldn’t stop watching the episodes and playing the games

12:35 that's honestly a good point - even though it's more efficient than ruthless, the ship could probably still be of use to the gang etc. but there's a certain bloodline that doesn't want any of that.
For real, like Bulma's dad made a spaceship with the saiyan pods as reference, imagine what he or bulma could do with that entire ship! They'd have healing tanks on earth in a month

At 6 yrs old watching this for the first time, Goku's little sparring session with Trunks is what solidified Goku as a legendary OG in my book.

What surprises me most is how much the voice acting has changed over the years of the series. It went from being purely dramatic and unbelievable to being somewhat believable now. The moments were much more intense though in the original series. You can feel emotion more because it was pretty exaggerated😅

This scene made Trunks my favorite character, and then the writer and producers decided to throw him away and never give him any wins so that Goku can have more.
But he had his own winning moments and he was from future, so Idk why will the producers do something like making him come to the past just to defeat villains that Goku has to defeat. Tbh what you said doesn't make any sense for me.
@@nerdtom4513 the only other win people can argue that Trunks had after Frieza was Zamasu and even that doesn’t count in my head because in the end Zamasu just stayed alive but in the weird sky thing and then Goku had to use his stupid Zeno button and delete Future Trunks’ universe. And btw I am not saying that Trunks should have shown up for every fight after this and win but he had fights against Cell and the Androids and he couldn’t even compete. He got his ass kicked time after time and it made him feel like a joke compared to the Trunks we see in this scene.

@@rageus4731 My point is that the main storyline is based on the past where everyone is alive. Future Trunks is one of my favourite too but the creators have to somehow focus only on the main storyline in the past rather than the Future Trunks' timeline. Still they managed to give him shine in Future Trunks arc and even in the Goku Black arc. DBS is fully Goku and Vegeta show and I doubt they will give Trunks, Gohan and Goten their moments but we can't beg or force Toriyama to write a storyline based on where they get a time to shine. If Toriyama created the show then it's his choice how the storyline will go. I know how you feel but it isn't in our hands to change how the show goes.

One of inm MY opinion, the most ioconic dragonball scenes EVER! Like someone said, the fact there was an entire ARC on Freiza and his ruthless ways. This young adult appears out of NOWHERE... I mean you expect Goku yeah sure, but when this mysterious man is there instead, you feel slightly... shocked/confused. When Trunks strats talking, he sounds cocky to an outsider, the hidden KI technique he used had me fooled first time I watched this 2 decades ago! I thought this was just a filler episode till Goku showed up. UNTIL the point he was playing baseball with EVERYTHING Freiza threw at him. Hell even the energy he used to destory Namek wasn't AS powerful as the one he formed on Earth. Even more incredible the fact Trunks LITERALLY walks towards Freiza and his Father with said energy ball comftorbly resting on ONE finger!
Then, again after all that time Goku and co struggled so much against him. Trunks slices and dices him, purposly gives his Father the sword, humiliates him and proceeds to kill him, all in the space of less than a SINGLE episode... That's the most mind-boggling part! I

I feel like everytime freeza sustained any serious injury in DBZ it always involves a part of him being cut lol, in the namek saga he had his tail cut by krillin's kienzan (destructo disk if you prefer) when namek was about to blow up he got split in half by his own attack, and finally he got cut into pieces by trunks.

Reason why goku was able to block trunks' sword attacks is because he surrounded it with ki at a higher level than trunks' sword which did not have ki on it

i had to be between 9 and 11 when i first saw this shit. i freaked out seeing not only a new saiyan, but a super saiyan that just shit on the guy that i watched the z squad struggle desperately against for months. i even remember frieza or his men mentioning how he was like 10x stronger after having mech parts added to him. not to mention frieza was with his dad, which we all assumed must only be in his second form judging by his appearance. knowing goku was off earth, i literally had no idea how the zfighters would overcome these terrible odds.... then trunks made his debut. probably one of the best anime debuts of all time. and even till this day, trunks is still just as badass and ruthless.

I think you'll like the android saga and cell saga, has a lot of under-rated fights. Also, with the Kai version it follows the manga. I prefer the original than the other versions

It's funny the look on Goku's face when Trunks transforms. He had no idea how awesome the transformation actually looked from the outside looking in.
Goku didn't knew how SSJ looked like at that point until he saw Trunks transforming.
And it was at this moment Aimin became a Trunks fan like all of us.

I remember watching this episode when it first came out at the time Frieza was back and Goku was no where to be seen and then Trunks came out of no where and at the time no one knew who he was, in my mind i was like who the heck is this dude and when he became a Super Sayian i was like WTF how did he do that? Then all the answers came together and my mind was blown me and a bunch of other kids. You should react to cooler vs goku ,it is a really cool fight and it regards friezas brother cooler that came to earth for revenge on goku who is supposedly the one responsible for friezas death,btw this is part of a movie which is a part of different continuety so some things are different such as future trunks not being a part of the story and goku being back from nsmek before learning how to transform to a super Saiyan at will

There's a reason why Frieza's race has something against Saiyans. You should check out the special Dragonball: Episode of Bardock to find out. It was spin-off of the Dragonball manga written by the creator of Dragonball around 10 years ago and Toei Animation made a 20 minute anime of that manga.
Episode of bardock wasn't made by Toriyama. Bardock wasn't Toriyama's character until minus. Also episode of bardock isn't canon
