"Everyone thinks the Undertaker is taking his gimmick too seriously."
And that one line explains why there will never be another Undertaker-
Right?
"Sorry this isn't gonna work, you got better than we thought."
What was he doing off camera that got everyone worried? The good ol' Texas boy was probably fine at home.
@@lordkrishnastolemyheart5485 Digging Graves in his free time got to a very time absorbing point in his life
When your name is Undertaker, it’s sort of hard to take you seriously.
There’s so many “there will never be another” characters/wrestlers from the attitude era. Unfortunately we will never see what we witnessed during that era again.
Referees when hit by a wrestler out for 30 mins
Referees with fans turns into ufc fighters
Funny how they recover just in time for the pin. The miracles of modern medicine...
referees in here comes the pain turn into gods
Great point!
Refs are probably tough sons of bitches to be able to deal with crazy fans. We all know the wrestlers won't actually harm them.
There are a few wrestlers who trained to sell and take bumps, I don’t doubt that a few of them are pretty tough. NXT ref Drake Younger is an indy legend 100% legit in ring.
I basically watch wrestling as actors playing characters. Very athletic and skilled actors. I'll never say they aren't. But it's basically a soap opera for the whole family
Hardcore wrestling would be a horror movie right.
That's good, considering that's exactly the product being offered to you.
Mark Calloway is one of the people who was always 100% loyal to Vince. He’s also a really normal nice guy out of character. If anyone has the latitude to break kayfabe it’s him. I really liked that storyline. It felt good to have a change of pace and get a little meta.
The Undertaker "Mark" stuff happened when I was a kid, so in my head I always imagine that the Undertaker was originally a wrestler named Mark who sold his soul to the devil/grim reaper/what have you, and has since turned into the Undertaker. The angle was then about Vince and co. pleading with the man inside the deadman.
MrPajamaShark I actually thought the exact same thing at the time
Hiero Glyph That's an epic moment.
MrPajamaShark That doesn’t really make sense since Undertaker got his powers (keyfabe) before joining wwf.
SuperVegitoSSJ2 and the urn
What you typed kind of makes sense in a way. It reminded me of him wrestling as Mean Mark Callous in WCW before he'd even joined the WWF.
I mean anytime cm punk "broke character" he was in character cuz that was kinda his character 😂
Austin Kelman sorta like pillman
Terrance Sledge exactly pillman was incredible
Its much easier for them. 😝😂
cm punk reminded me of deadpool
That pipe bomb he did was for real though
I have no idea how Mick Foley and Terry Funk are still alive
That's ok... neither do they.
Sheer will and determination
Cte will soon kick in for the 2 of them sadly I’m sure
cte?
Marvel Underground he actually might literally die in the ring lol he's obsessed with wrestling
vince calling undertaker mark during his satanic era was pretty genius. it was like saying he literally transformed into someone evil, for real. best undertaker era ever.
Victory Road 2011, the fans are chanting about how horrible the ending of Jeff Hardy vs Sting was, Then Sting walks up the ramp and says "I AGREE"
How bout this awesome line from CM Punk:
" This isn't CM Punk talking to Triple H. This is Phil Brooks talking to Paul Levesque!"
The Phenomenal Reviewer that was proven scripted and was apart of the modern era where it was normal for people to push kayfabe because the storyline benefited from it. And punk's pipe bomb angle was one of the biggest in the modern era. I feel like it wasnt on this list because of that because it was pre planned whereas these werent.
Oh, the so called "pipebomb".
We Speak WWE that actually wasn't from the pipe bomb. That was from the promo between the two of them before Night of Champions
The Phenomenal Reviewer I got chills hearing that!
& his mic got cut off right after he said that 🤣
That Undertaker promo is probably the best promo he's ever given in his career. Perfect blending of fact and fiction, it was meta before meta was cool.
Terry funk coming to help mankind is one of my FAVORITE wrestling memories and It makes me shed a tear how much they respect and love eachother
Honorable mention:
Cena gets on the mic and cuts a promo instead of selling his injuries at the end of Extreme Rules 2012.
So?
JAYEN TV He wasn’t supposed to cut a promo. He was just supposed to sell the beating he took from Lesnar. Apparently Lesnar got so pissed he wanted to knock him out backstage.
JAYEN TV so? Really? You're a problem
No one sells previous matches anymore. Even though my hate has damn near disappeared. For lack of care and using it elsewhere. Cena is too blame for everything wrong and everything that will be wrong for years to come
Cena is cancer
mankind really earned his money......no matter how much you practice, that stuff has got to hurt pretty bad....
He was nothing more than a stuntman.
@@ricstormwolf Yeah, but dude went through hell. So many thumbtacks, falling off the cage, through the cage, 2/3 of his ear being cut off, tooth through the lip, into the nose, etc.
He nearly got a thumbtack into the eyeball once too.
@@totallynotzokix11_mc21 He had to work twice as hard his entire career because he didnt fit Vince's fetish for extremely buff oiled up dudes in undies.
Rev Wolf yeah we also watched Adam's video about Ric Flair calling Foley that. Congratulations snowflake
How do you learn to fall like that?
good old JR's quick thinking after Foley took his hard bump is one of the things i really like about pro wrestling! even though Foley and Funk were "bitter enemies" at the time, Funk is the first one to the floor to check on his enemy! then JR tries to explain it away and say that you really didn't just see what you just saw. i love it !!
Ministry of darkness was his best gimmick.
Greetings. Have a nice day. American badass or 2007-2010 Taker
Y E S
I remember Ken Shamrock calling Undertaker "Mark" in a feud. I didn't realize that they thought Taker was taken his gimmick too seriously. Sometimes people take their gimmick too seriously because you were supposed to.
"Clad in the kind of clothes your old uncle wears when he goes to the park to throw rocks at birds"
LOL what?
Clad in an outfit your old uncle wears when he goes to the park to throw rocks at the birds...bruh lol
R. Clark I honestly started reading this just as he was saying it. No shit, word for word haha
That line about "having your intelligence insulted" is great, considering how many times WWE decides to do so now lol
That Undertaker thing could have been fascinating. Mark Calloway losing his identity in the Undertaker and that driving his Ministry's war with the WWE would have been simple and fun. Undertaker should've even "killed" the Higher Power making himself the "most powerful entity in WWE". Suddenly, Austin, McMahon, and the entire company have to unite to stop him and it makes sense.
Dexx Baker the higher power was Vince 😂
Undertaker from 1997 - 1999 was the best. ESPECIALLY during the Lord of Darkness phase.
Andrew Clement The entrance theme was the best in wrestling history in my opinion.
Andrew Clement undertaker you are still the best wrestle ever ether gone or still there buy 1 time part time
Andrew Clement hell yes!!
Biker bad ass Taker was the best. Much more realistic and true to life. Plus it let Mark be more like Mark and less like a comic book character.
ComaAlpha nobody watches wrestling for realism... Personally I find it depends when you were Bron. If you were born pre 90s most people like anything but ABA Taker.
That googly eyed Zeus guy is a treasure.
Shit The Undertaker convinced me 🤷🏽♂️
Didn't The Undertaker think he killed Foley after that Chokeslam, as well?
Pretty sure
Yeah. Go back to the match and watch his expression after Foley hits the mat. He looks horrified.
The Undertaker is so cool man, like as an actual person to. If that makes sense, he would defend anyone who’s right, good business guy, great cat man
Yup
Taker literally thought he killed the poor bastard. Thankfully no one was fatally injured.
Any one here grew up with the Attitude Era? I did . It was the Best period in Wresting . Period.
I remember seeing #7 when it aired. When Chaz walked off JR was like "What the hell?!"
The whole Oedipus thing was such a strange way to write a character. I'm glad that one never went anywhere.
I think one of the greatest Kayfabe-breaking moments nobody remembers is how visibly upset The Undertaker looks just prior to his match with Stone Cold Steve Austin at Over the Edge 1999.
You can clearly see in his eyes and demeanour that he’s devastated over the death of Owen Hart earlier that night.
Had to go watch. He seemed off the whole match honestly. What a sad night.
I remember watching it live here in England on Sky Sports. It was such a shocking and tragic moment. Loved watching Owen Hart wrestle.
I remember watching it live here in the UK as well. I was in my first year of high school and at 12:55am on that Monday morning I sneaked down stairs to watch the show. The plan was to go back to sleep afterwards for a few hours, but there was no way of sleeping knowing a great man's life had just been taken in that ring.
People laughed at me at school when I told them a wrestler had died, with the typical "wrestling is fake" comment constantly coming back.
I don't follow wwe any more, but I believe Vince badly let down the Harts in so many ways.
I remember Pat Patterson coming down to do his run in while crying hysterically, Jarrett’s rushed, anxiety riddled interview before his match with Debra obviously trying to hold it together, and X-pac has said it was hard too at the end of the night because he was last to leave the locker room. He turned the lights on and Owens bag was just sitting in the corner where he left it untouched.
When Sting forgot the camera was still on at the end of a WCW show and said "we got two words for ya!"
The undertaker in sweatpants is just so weird to me for some reason.....
TMPxFranchise2112x there’s a rather hilarious picture I found of Calloway where he’s in some store wearing a Hawaiian shirt and a pork pie hat. I laugh every time I see it.
Because the Deadman wearing the same shit that your friend’s dad wears while he’s shoveling snow is some weird shit🤣
This is basically the video about 10 wrestlers breaking kayfabe but then with "you forget" added.
Who gives a shit?
you.
durante Held who cares? It's Simon in the video
Hollywood Hulk Hogan>>>Hulkmania Hulk Hogan
Do you really think that using 3 > instead of 1 makes your statement that much more emphasized?
@@aceldamia9114 Yes>No
I was in high school in 1992 when WWF came to our school and "Mean Mark" Callaway was one of the wrestlers there. Was pretty sweet looking back.
Simon is WhatCultures Savior
Keep it coming Simon, your an inspiration to me to be positive. UP forever
8:15 when I was a kid I absolutely LOVED the *No Holds Barred* movie!! My brothers and I used to watch it all the time.. I had no idea it was a _flop_
I would like to see a series with gimmick suggestions/improvements for wwe wrestlers right now and how this could be booked.
@8:17 Thats one hell of an ingrown hair bump on Zeus' face. Shit looks like Pustulio from Invader Zim.
4:54 I laughed so much harder than I ought to, and I have no regrets.
CM punk's character is he's the deadpool of the marvel universe to the wwe universe, he can talk to fans outside the universe that it's all a work
Why would you attack Linda?! She's like the least crazy of the McMahons
That’s like saying “the classiest Kardashian“. Bar is pretty low.
She obviously the craziest if she got into politics
Because the fans are more crazy than any McMahon.
@@ricstormwolf nah about the same.
Cheyenne Hayden and why should you do it when hunter stands at her side 😂
Nothing gets to TV without Vince’s approval, especially back in the 90s. No way he didn’t know about dx showing the curtain call on Raw
Forgot the time the Undertaker told the new guy Y2J “My shower time is longer than your ring time.”
that sounds more like shit talking then breaking kayfaybe
Yeah that's just telling him a brutal fact
I was 12 I think when Hogan and Zeus did battle, and I can tell you first hand it made total sense to a child willing to ignore things to keep kayfabe alive in my mind. Of course I knew it was just a character, but I thought it was awesome.
It's still real to me goddamn me.
No holds barred is one of the best movie ever 😂😂😂
If you've never watched oswreview on CZcams before then I'd highly recommend you watch their review of no holds barred it's fucking brilliant.
I remember all of these. Even "Sweat Pants Taker". I must have Total Recall.
When your uncle goes to the park to throw rocks at birds....
You have some weird uncles, Simon. haha. This line actually cracked me up. Well done.
Maybe Wrestling is fake but its real in out hearts and we all love all of it, atleast most times.
Thats deep.

ARNOLD SWARZENEGGER
I can't believe that there was a time in my life where I thought that an elbow was more damaging than throwing someone down 30 feet.
So if the Undertaker did a promo it was a case of "hahaha what a story Mark"
That gets an up from me good Sir
Brian Pillman calling Kevin Sullivan “booker man” during a promo.
Lucas Neuhaus my favourite had to be Brian Pillman doing a shoot where he managed to get WCW to unintentionally but legitimately release him on live TV just before he went to ECW. It was during the Sullivan feud and they were doing a scene where he demanded to be let out of his contract. Sullivan actually brought out actual legal documents letting him out of his contract and he signed them on screen. Sullivan and WCW thought is was hilarious and all part of the act but Pillman’s lawyers said “you signed the actual documents and on live TV no less. This is all above board.”
Wrestling isn’t fake, the outcomes and storylines are scripted. Big difference.
It's hilarious that Vince said that fans didn't want their intelligence insulted and then fast forward 20 years and that's exactly what creative is doing
Vince's speech was 97, not 99.
Thank god, Vince McMahon wasn't telling a bunch of people who had wrestling's predetermined nature shoved down their throat for years that wrestling was predetermined while acknowledging people didn't like having their intelligence insulted.
I like Kevin Nash but he gives the worst powerbombs of all time. He basically just lets them fall. Terrible.
Didn't Sid just drop people too?
But yeah, Nash's bombs are ass.
almightybearrage That's kinda what you're supposed to do on a powerbomb
DryVaccum Cleaner69 You don’t really watch wrestling, do you? Watch how most people do it. There’s slam to it. Nash basically let’s go and moves his hands down as if he’s slamming but the body just falls and it looks horrible.
Nash is a 5 trick pony. Lazy as hell.
almightybearrage i think that’s the point
Keep the lists coming
I just subscribed and enjoy this type of videos. Personally I find Kayfabe really enjoyable and the bigger/flashier it is the better. Though nobody should be punished for breaking it. I miss the 90s style of WWF Kayfabe.
Brian Pillman's "I respect you, booker man!" from Superbrawl VI comes to mind
'clad in the kind of cloths your old uncle wears, when goes to the park to through rocks at birds' PRICELESS
Where was Kane breaking character to check on Jerry Lawler when he realized he was having a heart attack?
That's the one I remember most!
My keyfob? It's right in my pocket.. But..oh no!😂
Vince introduced the attitude era in 1997 not 1999
It was 97 when he said that not 99. I just watched it while flying through 1997 Raws. It's been awesome by the way. And I recommend going back and watching every RAW from 97 and some PPVS
eLi FILMS you using WWE network?
2018 is much much better
Better than what and in what way?
*Yes, Network. I could pull out VHS but why.
*When Vince said it was fake and a soap opera.
*Better than anything WWE has offered in the last 15 years
This should clear up those 3 comments.
Oh, in what way?
Its exciting, fresh, great storylines (sometimes) and great wrestling matches (sometimes). I saw a tag match between Taka/Aguila vs Brian Christopher/Morgan? That was fucking incredible
Chaz' theme was boss as hell
What about in ECW, when Foley tried to put out the fire on Funk
4:00 *THROWS ROCKS AT BIRDS* HAHAHA
You guys are the best!!! I look forward to each and every new video you guys produce! You guys have a dream job, that I wish I were apart of! Wrestling is my life! Need a new American writer? Lol
I hadn't forgotten 9/10 of these. I feel like I should be worried about my mental health or something
Interesting list. Simon is a plus.
Mick Foley shoves his hand into someone's mouth as his finisher lol
6:44 Vince: Oh hi Mark
The Undertaker flat out yelled and pointed to a turnbuckle where Booker T was supposed to be at, OVERSHOUTING the Raw TV crowd...
The explanation of No Holds Barred/Zeus/Hogan angle blew my mind.
When hbk feuded with diesel. During promos, he would at times call him Kevin
I definitely remember the Foley line.
Was so upset that he sold it
No holds barred is an awesome movie one of my favorites
The thing alot of people forget about The Undertaker vs Mankind, Hell in a Cell Match was that Mick Foley, while in a lock up with Mark Calloway ( The Undetaker ) talked him into throwing him off the top of the Hell in a Cell cage. That was the first unscripted incident and the second was they were both on the top of the cage again and Taker choked slammed Mankind and the top gave way and Foley fell down to the canvas. And I'm sure everyone can remember Mick smiling with a bloody nose and a tooth or 2 sticking out just below his nostril.
That RAW after Bad Blood was here in KC. A lot of us were shocked by the curtain call video
Just had to mention the Curtain Call again. Did you also know that JBL beat up the blue Meanie for real??
It's weird seeing Stephanie with her natural, lovely face.
I still find it funny the Zeus is Debo from Friday 😂
Rip ultimate warrior,Paul Bearer.
123 champ Fuck Ultimate Warrior.
Woken Matt Hardy let the man rest in peace
Riccardo Saccà Fuck no, he was a little bitch backstage like Hulk Hogan.
Woken Matt Hardy who cares, he's dead now. Be tastefull and let the man rest in peace
123 champ ur 4 years late
what a sell by JR on the Funk/Foley one....thats why he was the best.
I think Vince said about wwf being sports entertainment in late 97. Maybe 99 too but I remember it was around 97.
What Culture Wrestling won't hire me, as my name isn't Adam.
Please make a list on the most referenced events in Whatculture lists e.g Pipe Bomb, Montreal Screwjob, Curtain Call
Blue Meanie getting beat up by jbl
Those three are referenced across the Internet Wrestling Community
The undertaker one is a worked shoot thats why he still mentions the storyline. Vince told him to do that, that wasnt on purpose
7:35 dont you have a reaction channel with some other dude? I know ive seen you before on youtube.
Simon Miller, the only reason why I still watch what culture 😍
I just find it funny that one second its
"I hate you Hunter"
And then he tackled someone trying to hurt Linda
As John Cena said last year See Ya Later Fouth Wall.
LB 2.0. Punk was breaking the 4th wall, before it was cool.
Umm... 4:00
A better question I now have is "why does your uncle throw rocks at birds?"
Tristan Johns Why? (Smacks Head do some weird hand gestures then smack my bum and question why I just smacked my bottom then end it) Heres Why?
Because, if I threw them at my nieces and nephews, I would be arrested
@@adamhovey407 I throw my nieces and nephews at the ducks. You should give that a try
Well, they kept telling me I could kill two birds with one stone. I wanted to see if it was true.
Oh my goodness Mr. 'Wonderful' Simon 'The Why? Man' hello sir how are u doing. ✌🏿🤣
no holds barred was a awesome movie I saw it for my birthday on june 3 1989
Im rolling HAHAH 8:44
Vince Russo shouldn’t be incharge without a baby sitter lmao😂😂
That Undertaker thing with them calling him mark mark mark was to me, to set up the American Badass character switch.
Terry Funk running out to check on Mankind wasn't "breaking kayfabe". It makes total sense that two on air friends would check on each other after a fall like that. Nobody saw that and thought "Oh, wrestling must not be real!"
The two were feuding at the time, though, so it could be taken as breaking kayfabe.
they were on air feuding at that time so him coming out definitely blurred the kayfabe line
