Very nice video. Just a little note, by holding a spoon handle across the top of a glass (or bowl or pot), and pouring down the handle (the side away from the spoon), you can also get a neat pour. It's not foolproof, but often works in a pinch.
Amazing - I never knew you could do that - Many thanks. ....and to think I chucked out my favourite glass because of a chipped rim and can't get another one !
Brilliant. Thanks for the comprehensive video I will try this on a few pieces of chipped bowls and glassware. I need to go to Harbor Freight and get a cheap torch. :)

electronicsNmore yes thats good advice thank you. Ill also add that I’ve inherited a workshop full of wheels, grinders, sanders and misc. items from a person who repaired elegant glass. I am interested in taking on some of his projects that were piled up in his basement. His wife also fired ceramics as well so have her kiln as well. Like i said your video is 1 of many that I’m using to become familiar with repairs and such. Thanks again....ill keep watching👍👍👍
Very informative. Got a story for you. Was dating this girl back in 93-94 and she was cooking. So I walk in and she's got a Pyrex rectangle deep dish on the stove (wire ring heaters) I went to say, "You shouldn't cook that on that." and after I got the last 'that' out, it exploded. Only minor cuts.

Good stuff though. Thanks. I started with oil burners when I was 11yo. I used to sell 'em for 5$ to crank heads. Most of the time it would be 4 & change in penny's.
What if you had a glass rod and wanted to attach it to the side of the glass? Make a kind of pitcher handle for it, and then if you heated everything and then superheated the contact points, would they "bond"?
Cracks are different from chips, and they would probably tend to run further no matter what, but maybe if it was first filled with CA glue then heating it slowly; however, I wouldn't want the heated CA burning in my oven, so now we need a special experiment oven, man this is getting expensive... lol
Has anyone tried this on a very thick glass? I have a large A&W mug that has cracks defining a chip that would be about dime sized, but it hasn't fallen off. I was wondering if I would be able to make those cracks melt into each other. But being very thick, it worries me. It's like trying to work repairs on the foot of that glass you have.
Nice! I have a question. How would you tackle fixing glass that partially cracked from adding cold water? I accidentally splashed some cold water into an empty hot glass pitcher and it has a crack. Can I use this method to re-weld that crack?
My 50oz Bodum French Press beaker suffered a minor crack after being dropped into sink at very close distance, didn't want to risk pouring hot water into it again for making coffee. I wonder if it will be possible to fix it like this with a blowtorch.
Could you heat up a glass like this and somehow repair it? I have a drinking glass that has 1 line crack about 2 inches long and for sentiment reasons i really dont want to throw it away and would love to repair it......and advise is deeply appreciated

Just wondering if you use a gas or electric oven. the reason I ask, with the electric oven, the top and bottom elements come on for the heat up. Is that ok?

Would this method work for a think glass plate that is cracked but not all the way through? I cracked an imitation antique glass plate by putting food that was too hot on it and I'm hoping to repair it
electronicsNmore thanks for the reply. So do you think there is anything I can do for the crack? I have seen epoxy suggested but i don't think it will work on this case because their is no room to get it in the crack since the plate is still intact.
