This was an interview on a US TV network that many, many years ago, used to actually play music videos (you know the one I mean - do NOT mention their name in the comments, PLEASE!)
I met Dr. Peter Reich back in 1994 after attending a lecture he was giving in regards to his father, Dr. Wilhelm Reich. Peter was extremely intelligent, very well-spoken... He covered some thing during the lecture that were not covered in the book he wrote about his father, "A Book of Dreams". My one fanboy moment was to have him autograph my copy of "The Whole Story" next to the cloudbuster inside the insert. XD
You mean 1978 when she was famous-But before that my dad would watch her and the others like Del Palmer when she fronted the KT Bush Band at public houses, + pubs across London + South East of England in 1975/76! began recording her first album as a solo artist in August 1977 for-The Kick Inside!
THANK YOU for posting this - I am a huge fan of Kate. She is years ahead of anyone else and she has major stars begging her to work with them. So disappointed that she doesn't record as much anymore.
I remember the days when the unnamed played music videos, and actually cared about music artists. Those where the good ol days :D Thanks for posting B-)
Wow, back when EMPTY V actually had Vj's and not Carson Daly. Beautifully done(per usual for Kate) video, and Sutherland's appearance was a real treat .
Uhm, no, not really. Madonna & Lady Gaga control very little & create even less, other than having a great publicist who makes you believe otherwise. Kate Bush OTOH is a brilliant writer, singer, musician, etc.
ArtisanTony said: Yes i am 46 now and remember when EmpTV started and we would watch music videos al the time. I also remember when they stopped and I predicted the fall of EmpTV well I guess they are finally going back to their roots maybe.
Lol very funny!! :) "Gather round Grandaddy, children. Long ago people sangs songs and made short films for them and an Entire Channel was devoted to promote these clips!!"
@hunterproductions Because, as far as I know, don't have a piece of software that can search through spoken material. But searching through text is easy.
@triplettam said: Yeah, I remember those days, too. Remember Alt Nation, 120 Minutes, those places where we could see and hear new music? Regular MTV should take the M out of their name, but there are a couple *** sponsored cable spinoffs (like Paladia) where you can hear some good stuff. But *** betrayed us, didn't they?
No, Kate's song was called "Cloudbusting", a term coined by Wilhelm Reich, father of Peter Reich who wrote "A Book of Dreams" - which inspired Kate to write this song. But you knew all that, right?
Because networks search for their names and cause videos to be deleted. I've had this policy since I first started uploading videos, and only had two videos taken down. So please, humor me...it's working.
I'm a fan of both as well, though obviously more Kate than Madonna. Madonna does owe Kate for inventing the way she tours - the headset microphone and dancers - but Madonna has invented so much, and has been a consistent innovator herself. That, and I envy Madonna fans her productivity. She's managed to raise several children while constantly producing new music, while Kate has one son and takes 12 years off.
Thank you for uploading this. 'Lavverlylad' before me mentioned the video making them weep and laugh simultaneously, which shocked me, because it was such a stunning replica of my own reaction. What an intelligent and brilliant lady.
@SupernalOne : Always find that a very silly thing to say to be honest. No offence meant, but if you had been born and raised in parts of Hackney, or certain parts of Glasgow, Dublin etc...you might think that Kate Bush sounded very "posh", so what exactly are you saying, and why say it at all come to think of it ? She's a vocalist - not a narrator.
@johnlovesbridge-mtv used to be privately owned by an outfit in Nebraska even. there wasn't even any commercials for at least the first year. then it got sold and turned into the trash it is today. very sad.
I'd agree that Lady Gaga creates less but not Madonna. Having a knowledge of Madonna that precedes the birth of Lady Gaga (yes, I am that old!). And I'm not dismissing the genius that is Kate Bush, but Madonna and Lady Gaga are not the same thing, however much Lady Gaga wishes it were.
Shot Alicia Keys was bad about it too Maxwell he at least gives her credit on the song he did of hers but you can here in other songs he lifted as well.
She IS very ahead of her time.. utterly gorgeous.. love her.

The most brillant and beautiful person in the world....since 1979!
You mean 1978 when she was famous-But before that my dad would watch her and the others like Del Palmer when she fronted the KT Bush Band at public houses, + pubs across London + South East of England in 1975/76!

The most haunting video ever, just chills me every time I see it .. and my god, what a beautiful woman Kate Bush is
Always lovely to hear Kate talk about her music
THANK YOU for posting this - I am a huge fan of Kate. She is years ahead of anyone else and she has major stars begging her to work with them. So disappointed that she doesn't record as much anymore.
my god what a beauty..
That smile at the end blows my mind.
Stunning in every way. Thankyou.
gorgeous lady
cloudbusting is my fave kate bush song
Such a beautiful and magical "short film"
The VJ is Martha Quinn. One of the first VJ's on MTV when it debuted around 1981. I remember watching her and the others.
Yeah, I saw this video as a short movie in a cinema in Glasgow before the main feature. Can remember the video, can't remember the movie.
she's a sweet woman...classy...not many of her theses days!!! LOve to see her perform live...just the once please!
This song brings up memories....
She's so talented and a natural beauty in those days.
Brilliant, intelligent and a stunning beauty.
You can add humble 😉
Have Kate will travel...so rare to see a Kate interview. And Cloudbusting is so brilliant.
Peter Reich's "A Book of Dreams". It was released in paperback with a still of the "Cloudbusting" video on the cover.
I remember the days when the unnamed played music videos, and actually cared about music artists. Those where the good ol days :D Thanks for posting B-)
i KNOW i love her!
Just think it's great to this this for the firsat time as a long time fan. Thanks

Wow, back when EMPTY V actually had Vj's and not Carson Daly. Beautifully done(per usual for Kate) video, and Sutherland's appearance was a real treat .
Awesome vid and music.
thanks K8ate. keep fighting the good fight for us.. we believe!! oh soo many behind me we believe!
.... it's refreshing to see and hear an interview where the interview isn't about the interviewer....
love this! I wonder why she almost always is wearing just one ear ring(?)
Uhm, no, not really. Madonna & Lady Gaga control very little & create even less, other than having a great publicist who makes you believe otherwise. Kate Bush OTOH is a brilliant writer, singer, musician, etc.
What a gorgeous woman. Some lucky man can call Kate his wife! Im jealous of him!!
nice interview
Kate Bush is an amazing artist and person
Kate Bush could never be mistaken as a little boy as she appeared in the video. Great song.
patti smith had a song based on peter reichs book too-a tragic figure hounded to distraction
Gosh, she's gorgeous...
Glimmer!? GILMOUR! I love that clip of Running Up That Hill. It's on here somewhere.
A Brit and a Canadian interpreting a German? How obviously brilliant is that?
@APPLEJAP - I hope so. It would add to her mystic. I love her and her incredible music.

wow what a beautiful woman she is. i never realised
It exists with anyone. Some people are better at it then others.
@SupernalOne Nah, she's a regular suburban girl from Kent. Dad was a GP, mom was a nurse.
now i really love her for what she said about Donald Sutherland.. how great she really loved him..
Kate Bush is everything
Oh. That is what I thought. Thanks.
Lol very funny!! :)
"Gather round Grandaddy, children. Long ago people sangs songs and made short films for them and an Entire Channel was devoted to promote these clips!!"
@hunterproductions Because, as far as I know, don't have a piece of software that can search through spoken material. But searching through text is easy.
I just love her
Pretty pretty wow
I don't have the heart to directly tell k8fan that the track is called "cloudbuRsting"
@triplettam said: Yeah, I remember those days, too. Remember Alt Nation, 120 Minutes, those places where we could see and hear new music? Oh I see. So it's so the network that used to play videos not to find this on you tube and take it off for copyright infringement
Sensual as hell...
No, Kate's song was called "Cloudbusting", a term coined by Wilhelm Reich, father of Peter Reich who wrote "A Book of Dreams" - which inspired Kate to write this song.
But you knew all that, right?
someone now whats the name of the book that is based the song?
After watching this, it reminds me of George Clooney in 'the men who stare at goats' . He cloud busts then crashes! Good song.
authalic said: Wait, *** used to play music videos, and interview musicians like Kate Bush? Where did people watch The Hills back then?
Aw Martha! I miss MTV.
who did madonna get her ideas from? now you know
@k8fan im confused...why cant you say it? it's just your opinion about the station!
What happens if you use those three letters? Is it a legal thing or just a personal thing? Just wondering.
Because networks search for their names and cause videos to be deleted. I've had this policy since I first started uploading videos, and only had two videos taken down. So please, humor me...it's working.
What station are we talking about?, can someone message me and tell me?
Wow
sehr wahr ,btw great music at it's best
Can you tell me why youtube is removing her videos?
Wow Kate looks really stunning in this video. Beautiful, especially her mouth!
so you keep saying

That's Donald Sutherland? That's amazing!
Why can't you mention their name in the comments since she says it at the end of the video anyway?
I figured you'd get it, being a Time Lord and all.
Ok, i getcha ;)
A brilliant woman.
Gawd how beautiful!
Thank you for uploading this.
'Lavverlylad' before me mentioned the video making them weep and laugh simultaneously, which shocked me, because it was such a stunning replica of my own reaction.
What an intelligent and brilliant lady.
It was the thing to do way back then :) I never did it, because it was thing to do.
It rhymes with "empty v".
How can any woman look so good!
is that Erica M
The video gets removed. I believe if a user has enough videos removed, his or her account gets deleted.
@SupernalOne : Always find that a very silly thing to say to be honest. martha quinn, kate bush interviews, kate bush videos, wow MTV was awesome in the 80s. What the hell happened???
They have removed videos of mine before, and have closed accounts of friends. Better safe than sorry.
Now, who would you say is a better mother ?hope you decide right
It's the 1980's Big Hair, Big Promo. Clips!
Was Donald Sutherland slumming it?
Slumming it? Sutherland was a great admirer of KB's work and was grateful to be included.
she s gorgeous i wish she was my girlfriend and i was 20 yrs older :/
beatiful woman
@johnlovesbridge-mtv used to be privately owned by an outfit in Nebraska even. there wasn't even any commercials for at least the first year. then it got sold and turned into the trash it is today. very sad.
hubba hubba!
Yeah that was when EmpTV was actually good.
i kissed her in 1982....

I thought Wilhelm Reich was Austrian???
Kate bush is g maxwell

I hear a lot of Kate Bush songs where Madonna lifted off of The Dreaming being one of them .
Shot Alicia Keys was bad about it too Maxwell he at least gives her credit on the song he did of hers but you can here in other songs he lifted as well.
youre kidding
