Nope. It is because she takes breaks to live her normal life. But yes, she also takes regular time to finish albums. They are masterpieces, yes. But I have heard masterpieces albums from other artists and they did not take them so long. It is just the time of the artist. At least, she respects her own time to do a good work.

I was a fan from day one. As a teenager in the 80's I was buyung her vinyls in Woolworths whilst everyone else was buying Madonna and Kylie Minogue. I remember getting funny quizzical looks and comments like "Kate Bush? She's a wierdo". When my kids were teenagers it was "Kate who?" Now, because of Stranger Things" she has become a goddess. The funny thing is some kids thought she was a new rising star and were flabbergasted to find out that she is now nearly 64 years of age. She has always been a goddess in my eyes.

I thought the same, but was lucky enough through a friend in her Fan Club to get tickets in the 2nd row, at one of her Hammersmith Apollo Gigs, a few years back.
One of the most amazing nights ever.
She was sensational, there was just a tinge of worry as to whether she would be as good as she was back in the day, but she exceeded all expectations.

However I remember those in the 70s who didn’t ‘get her’ & ridiculed either/or Kate Bush or her fans - I hope more have recognised what they may have missed back then. I think Victoria Wood in this interview is quite spiteful & ridiculing of her, taking advantage of Kate’s youth, notwithstanding VW’s so called dry wit. Why is everyone so down on Michael Aspel. Aspel was a bloody good tv host. I was disappointed when his Saturday night show was cancelled. At least with Aspel you get an INTELLIGENT interview unlike other other TV hosts you could mention.
Aspel asked good concise questions and wasn't a notice box like Norton or Ross or any of those other idiots.
Aspel was one of the best TV hosts going. Wish he was still on in TV.

Aspel is a legend! A great interviewer that was laid back and made his guests relax! I can’t forget his tv presentation on Strange But True! His voice and manner really made that programme! It wouldn’t have been the same without him!

Thanks so much for posting this! These clips must be preserved forever. One day I'll get round to doing a Kate site with this stuff on it. I'm watching it with sadness because I've loved her since the start, when I was a school kid, and she and her music was hauntingly beautiful. There'll never be another like her. God bless Victoria Wood.

I read recently that something like 85% of all artists signed to record labels were privately educated, but I really miss this type of artist. She reminds me a bit of Sade. They're from ordinary places in suburbia, but they have imagination and talent, and that's all they're interested in - no bullshit. They're there because they are good at what they do, not because they have the connections or speak the right way. The music industry has really suffered because of the way it is structured now.

Absolutely brilliant muscially. She would not even get a contract today as the music today has to all sound the same just like modern cars all look the same. We are in the age of forced mediocrity but it's so good to look back at true, real creativity.

Couldn't agree more. Music is one of the great arts (Kate's certainly is) and cars should always please the eye in an artistic way. Today's music and cars, they're anodyne, sterile and without art.

I’m so happy how much we’ve evolved as a society. Today those cringey questions about sex appeal are almost gone from interviews. Today she’d probably walk away at the question, it’s so embarrasing. There’s a long way to go still but watching this, it’s clear we’ve also come a long way.

What was so bad about this interview? This is a conversational, light entertainment chat show that predates the saturation of comedy chat shows. It fulfils its purpose. As for Aspel being patronising, he actually lets his guests talk. Those little "that's nice" responses to answers that seem like a verbal pat on the head are just there to minimise his interruption. And do you think Jonathan Ross wouldn't ask her about being a male fantasy? That said, this is last edition of Aspel and Company and it doesn't look like his heart is in it any longer. He looks bored, maybe that's part of it.

@@thischarminglovehound2376 nope, she was funny! As for the "barking mad" stuff, I daresay her album sales rather made up for it. Perhaps you weren't around back then to know she took a lot of stick for the high pitched voice and amateur dramatics dance/mime. I loved it myself but the average person who was buying Showaddywaddy 45's found it odd.
