I think Ok Go has well deserved attention for their music videos,
But it’s their simpler videos that make you realize how great they are as a band.

A detail that I think goes overlooked is that the video feeds of the four of them clapping at 0:43 plays uninterrupted until the very end of the video when they reveal the time and walk outside. OK Go planning things out even in quarantine

I was impressed that they coordinated the finish to be at 8:01, but after reading your comment then skipping back to 0:43, I was blown away by how synchronised this recording was. But would you expect anything less from these guys right?!
Actually the end is recorded at night, while the rest of the video is recorded during the day. Around 3:48, the evening recording makes its first appearance, then eventually takes over the screen.

This song very much deserves the title of art. There is so much emotion and power put into a song with a children’s piano. They put everything they could into this song’s meaning. I feel like this song is the band’s return after their sporadic hiatus. The true OKGO coming back. even without posting any songs since (except for Art Together Now) I think this song is a good sign for the future. Damian’s voice has seriously improved since the older days and I’m excited for what OKGO has planned for the future!
Those first notes gave me chills. Watching this for the first time in 2024 stirs up a lot, and already that first year of quarantine feels a world away. I just want to say, as non-denominationally as possible, bless you, to each and every one of you, and bless those who can't be with us today.

Absolutely Agree. 💛🎶 Anniversary Effect for sure. Imprinted. I found this Gem scrolling for musical inspiration during the Pandemic Purgatory. Listened to it a lot and it never fails to help me process towards a positive perspective even during the deadliest part of the pandemic, isolated, surrounded by nothing but psychic pain exchange this song reminded me it’s OK to be human, it’s OK to be finite, it’s OK to be a small part of something bigger like a Pan Event.

I was on life support for 4 days in January of 2020 with double pneumonia after contracting the flu. Ever since my recovery it was my biggest fear that my mother would catch COVID-19. That fear has come to pass and we bury her next Saturday. When will this ever end and why must we keep repeating the same mistakes. I am bawling like a child at the words to this song and can't get past how much I want to share it with my mother, but I can't, because she's the reason that I am bawling at the words to this song. Thank you OKGO for helping me get rid of some emotional toxins. I shall come back here often.
I know you wrote that over four years ago, but I want to offer my condolences anyway. I agree that Covid deaths in North America could have been avoided. Airports could have been closed much earlier, and it was a shock to discover that Canada allowed private airports to remain open, as if rich businessmen couldn't catch and carry a virus. Stupidity and greed just cannot remain in control of our governments.
One day we'll find out that if you play all their songs together with the right timings and speed it creates one giant super song.
Even with limits to what they could film/edit, they still made it entertaining and interesting, especially with the reveal that the four performances were synced at the end and leading into the thank you to healthcare workers
I mean, they could've recorded themselves clapping days apart, they had to mess that up at some point, or they just recorded themselves clapping at different points of setting it all up, like Damian did his clapping segment before everything else and Tim did his clapping segment in the middle
it’s impressive that you guys are still able to make a visually interesting music video considering the circumstances.

This song is so good, it made me cry so much when it came out.
I was just graduating from med school when the pandemic started and soon found myself in the middle of it. I saw a lot of patients with a severe form of covid daily, and I saw a lot of them die. Not being able to make them feel better really made me feel miserable, we had so little knowledge about the disease and vaccines were not developed yet. I had an inmense fear to be the one who would spread covid to my family because at the time that could mean death. So I became completely isolated from them in my own house, I washed my hands so much that I tore my skin, and my face was always red from wearing a n95 mask all day (which I was thankful for having), I was nearly obsessed with desinfection. I felt like a menace to my loved ones and I felt burned out after some time.
The phrase "everything's untouched but forever changed" got to me because at that time I felt like things would never be the same again. It sums up how in such a short period of time a microorganism we couldn't even see showed us how fragile humans can be.
Our everyday activities couldn't be our everyday activities anymore and we suddenly found ourselves alone. This made me appreciate the people I love so much.

There's so much behind this single phrase, "All together alone in the chrysalis". The two concepts "all together" and "alone" are completely opposite to each other, yet it's exactly what is happening in the world right now. Divided yet united. Tired and desperate yet full of energy and hope. We thought that all this quarantine stuff was going to be just a break, a temporary measure, however, it has affected us more than we think. I believe, the real consequences of it will appear later, both negative and positive. God, I could have never imagined that something like this was ever going to happen, but here we are - finally trying to love other people and show compassion all while being away from them. We'll be okay. Humans will be okay. A bit lonely and frustrated, but okay.
Not to mention "the chrysalis" is representative of all the changes we will go through during this process in life.

I just imagine them wandering around their homes checking the acoustics for the best places to record.

Gonna be honest, before this I knew OK Go as that band with the great music videos, but this song was genius both lyrically and harmonically. It's a very Radiohead-esk tone which works for the pandemic and all it's spiraling chaos. Great job.
