It was tried several years ago. A petition was circulating, but nothing came of it. It would have been the best halftime show of all time.
I stood in line to get into San Diego Comic Con behind Weird Al about 20-25 years ago (wasn’t a long line, like 10 mins), super nice guy. Totally humble, friendly, was just there as a general person not in a panel or at a booth or anything, just joked around with the people in line around him, and then waved and went on his way like a normal person. Total class act.

I actually sat in a radio station waiting room with a young fella with weird hair back in ‘81 or so. I was there to interview for a DJ gig (I wound up being hired by the other major rock station in the market), and he was there to plug (in person) this Dr. Demento cut called Another One Rides the Bus. (That station played the single, but passed on me; the other station hired me, but refused to play Weird Al. The takeaway? Weird Al is known to the cognoscenti as one of the most creative artists of his generation, and I use a public platform to comment on him. Oh, and neither radio station exists in the same form it did. Oh - and just two years older than he, I couldn’t even think about doing that kick even as a one-take.)

ohh, i was wondering where weird al was and why the lead singer was acting so weird.
It's so crazy to me that when I was a kid, in the 80's, I wrote Weird Al a letter, and he sent a hand written response with a picture and an autograph. That's probably one of the main reasons he's still around, he's a super cool dude. I was 40 years old the first time I saw him in concert, only regret is I waited so long!

I heard an interview with Weird Al- that guy is amazing! He is super smart, graduating from high school and college early/young. He was called weird by other students, but he embraced that- making all of us who often feel weird to have someone to whom we can feel a connection. Also-super talented musically, his lyrics are so clever, and he doesn’t look like he aged a day.

I just need to say that this video is my go-to video when I am sad or stressed. The leg kick at 2:17 is perfection and I have watched it over a 100 times.
The song itself is a cover that Weezer forcefully agreed to do, and nailed it. Then parodying themselves with Weird Al is top notch. Using the buddy holly outfit plus the general concept of the video for Undone is just amazing. And also all of Al’s band mates nail the impressions of the Weezer guys.

I am very impressed with this cover. As someone who sees music, can see the ebb and flow of the waves of each note as they pass by in beautiful colors, the flow of this song is excellent. I had ZERO clue Weird Al was standing in for Weezers lead singer in this video. I generally don't watch videos or much TV, etc, but this showed up in my feed with it stating "starring Weird Al".
Al was nearly 60 when he did this! And I had no idea he was so smooth. I just got off the phone a few minutes ago with my wife and had her watch this and she is as amazed with his performance as I am.
I'm 52 and clearly remember his first big hit "Eat It" among many others, but I wasn't necessarily a big fan, but I enjoyed his stuff whenever I heard it. I know he didn't sing this, but his performance, again, was amazing.
Weezer making a cover of Toto, and Weird Al stars in the video, while the video is also a parody of Undone -The Sweater song-, so according to that logic, Weird Al should also be the star in the music video of Hash Pipe performed by Toto, and that video should be a parody of Toto's Rosanna.
Obviously this is the only way to restore balance.
Logically speaking, it's the only possible course of action.
