    Took me a year to diagnose my driveshaft on my k1500. I did 2 alignments at 2 different shops, tire rebalancing and rotations and the driveshaft balance was something I was unaware of at the time and was a Hail Mary call. Wish I would have seen this years ago!

    I'm being chased by axles lately! I just rebuilt a Dana 45... yes 45 and that was my first time in this world - it was kinda ugly. The upper and lower axle arms on my 64 Bonneville I just had to re-bush with liquid poly. Seems, like you say, things come in waves. I once bought a 1967 MGB that had a terrible vibration and the guy was sick and tired of the whole car... believe that or not, and it was only a clump of mud on the driveshaft. After cleaning it was fine and I offered the car back to the guy and he laughed and said "you keep it man". I hope you get to rebuild this unit and I'd love to see your methods on this. I've watched many videos on axle rebuilds now and it seems everyone has slightly differing (Punny huh) methods and your ways are simple and work well every time. I'll be watching! Bobby

    I had my rear drive shaft weight pop loose and start hitting my fuel tank gage on a 17 Tundra with 120 on the clock while towing a 4K lb trailer. No vibration though. Dealer pushed the weights back and said I was good for a bit, but recommend a new drive shaft. I then heard a pop driving it 40 miles later and the weights started hitting the fuel tank cage again. I’m the original owner and rarely off road my truck. What might cause this? Dealer said U joint was fine. Good video. Thanks.

    So, if the vibration feels like a “driveshaft” vibration, there’s likely something out of balance in the driveline. And if it feels like a wheel bearing, it’s possibly a defective bearing in close proximity to one of the wheels. And if the vibration is in the front end of the vehicle, it’s likely an issue near the front end of the vehicle. Thank you.

    Really need some help here ... Would a weak (not as stout as the original) driveshaft cause a 2006 Pontiac Torrent AWD to vibrate under hard acceleration or while turning left or right.
    BTW ...
    1. The two-piece driveshaft and carrier bearing are less than two years old.
    2. Same applies to Motor and Transmission Mounts, plus Bushings, Control Arms, Ball Joints, etc.
    3. In short, all items are fairly new except the tires that are five years old (General RT-43s).

  • @markk3652
    @markk3652 Před 3 měsíci

    The Ford two piece driveshaft is notorious for having the slip bump issue. There’s no real way to fix it, you can take it apart and grease it, but it’s a short term fix. The bad part is that it shoves into the front shaft and carrier bearing which destroys it. It’s made to be non serviceable, therefore requires a replacement driveshaft to be installed. Very expensive from Ford. My driveshaft ruined both the carrier bearing and the transfer case. Truck had a horrible vibration that didn’t go away even after the driveshaft was replaced with an aftermarket one. The limited slip clutches went bad, and it had an IWE fail too. I spent about 10k getting all that fixed in addition to the lower ball joints, and new transmission lines installed before they snapped off unexpectedly as they do with the 6R80 transmission that will be decimated by that happening. I love my truck though, and figured fixing it would be way cheaper than buying a new one that won’t be built any better.

      perhaps a wheel/tire issue. bent rim, bad belts in tire, badly balanced or lost weights from last balancing job.
